We stayed in the King Room. Currently this is only an Inn, and they do not serve any food. There are several places in the town square within walking distance to eat. We have a group of us that have stayed here several times. This year we had to cancel our…read morereservations on August 1 for our October 20-22 weekend. 2 days later we were all charged a $50.00 cancellation fee for a total of $200.00. Just wanted everyone to note their cancellation policy. We had given over 70 days notice that we were unable to make our trip this year, but it doesn't matter the $50.00 is their set cancellation fee. I would also mention that the air quality in the log cabins is awful!! We opened our windows, bought air fresheners and nothing got rid of the musty moldy smell that permeated the cabin and irritated our sinuses and lungs. This was not a one time experience, we noticed the smell on at least 2 of our stays among several cabins. It was so bad that the last reservation (cancelled one), we had all booked their other cabins, not the log cabins. I have told our group to count me out if they decide to go back, just left a bad vibe with me.

This is a nice peaceful spot about 30 minutes away. Most of the sites here seem to be long-term for the summer And our Park homes or RVs with permanent attachments. The pool was really nice and it seems many people were enjoying it. The weekend nights were busy, but everyone appeared to leave on Sunday night, so it was very quiet the last couple nights. Most of the short term sites just have power and electric, but there is a dump site up by the office. The laundry room had two washers and two dryers and worked great during our stay washing was $2.75 and drying was a dollar for 45 minutes. They do have rolls of quarters at the front office. I do have to say that the staff here were super kind and helpful whenever we needed anything. We weren't here most of the time during the day since we were visiting our grandkids, but it looks like the kids here we're having great fun, fishing in the pond, catching fish and turtles! If you have the ability to bring your bikes, I would definitely do that as you are right next to the great bike trail. You can ride right into Savannah or other places. It's a very extensive trail.

Several men were drinking in the hallway outside my room-go to the parking lot or someone else's room??! The hotel advertises a "24-hour cancellation policy," but I was told it only applies before check-in--not 24 hours before any night you want to cancel. This was NOT clearly explained at booking or check-in. When I asked to leave early the staff were unhelpful and the manager was unavailable. I was told that I would have to pay for the full five days. I had to get his staff to call the manager and talked to him on their cell phone. he was rude and dismissive. He finally agreed that he would "work it out" so that I could leave early. Then I was charged for an extra night after I had already left. The manager claimed I missed a 3 PM cancellation cutoff and cancelled at 5:37. Of course the 3pm thing was never disclosed to me. This place is poorly managed, with unclear policies and rude staff. I've disputed the charges with my credit card and reported the issue to the booking site. If you value your safety and money, avoid this hotel.

All the staff were friendly and polite. I love how they have a bar inside the hotel. The one thing I didn't like was no food served past 8pm. Another thing that I didn't care for, but wasn't really the hotels fault, but I was next to the outside door that has a clear sign on it that says something about close slowly, cause it's loud. People would let it slam. I was probably the only one who would close the door really slow. All the locals were really nice. The breakfast was yummy. They have the best blueberry muffins. They have a golf course right behind it that is part of the hotel. I dont play golf but it was fun to sit at my room window and watch them play. I plan to go back to this hotel in October. There are hotels in Dixon but I love staying here so it is worth the 20 minute drive to Dixon. I love the balcony rooms, it is peaceful to sit out and watch the river. The first morning I was here this week I counted over a dozen white swans in the river. I like to work with my laptop and bring my meals to the balcony. The balconies are furnished with chairs and a table. Breakfast is very good and the foods are kept hot and fresh. The area is clean and well organized. Employees are extremely friendly and helpful. Always an enjoyable stay.

It was July and most everything on the water was filled to capacity so we began looking into B & B's in WI. Green County came up in our search and Albany House was highly rated. We took a chance and were not disappointed. The home sits on about 2 acres, a very peaceful setting, many gardens and a lovely sense of tranquility. A large front porch with seating, a swing and plenty of mosquito abatement welcomes you! Our room was one of the bedrooms in the Eagle's nest at the top of the home. It was comfortably and thoughtfully appointed and decorated. All the conveniences were available and waiting. Breakfast was excellent, Margie is a wonderful chef and Ken made a wonderful server. We sampled some local cheese and had more than enough food to satisfy us until we were ready for a late afternoon meal. The guests were delightful, conversation flowed and we all lingered past 10 am just enjoying ourselves. Green County is a wonderful explore and Albany was a wonderful place base to travel from. We'd go back in a heartbeat, especially as the seasons change so we can see the area in all it's various splendor. And we'd especially go back to enjoy the hospitality of Margie and Ken and Albany House!

Green County provides a nice getaway, and Albany House is the perfect base for us. There are four bedrooms on the second floor and the third floor is a suite (two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a common area). Their website has pictures of everything so you can see the rooms before you make a reservation. Albany isn't a well-known destination, but if you want to relax, ride your bike on the Sugar River trail, sample lots of cheeses, visit the best brewery in Wisconsin (or any combination of those things), I would recommend checking out this B&B. The breakfasts are fantastic -- enough to get you through most of the day. And now they just opened a cottage (really a vintage bungalow on the Sugar River) across the street with two bedrooms and bathrooms plus a whirlpool tub (in a separate room with a fireplace) and its own kitchen, dining room and living room. It looks really nice (but we haven't stayed there yet).

Everything worked fine in our guest room, but we were yearning for more electrical outlets. The front desk attendants were super nice, and quickly brought up more towels when asked. Parking was awesome, as they have a free covered, attached parking ramp for hotel guests. I hope DeSoto House keeps hosting for many more decades!
