They also have paintball, a skate park, BMX tracks, a dog park, indoor gym with a fitness center, basketball courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, playgrounds, picnic areas, and even a lakefront boat ramp with fishing access. In addition to growing citrus, Phelps sold lots to fellow Chicagoans and mentored Loring Chase and Oliver Chapman into turning this largely unsettled area into an upscale winter resort. Phelps, acting as a one-man chamber of commerce, provided the basis of the promotional materials used by Chase and Chapman who marketed Winter Park to wealthy northerners. This nearly six acre park, in Winter Park, provides both natural beauty and recreational opportunities. One of the nicest features of this park is the playground that was rebuilt in 2021 by Kompan Design with input from area residents. This playground was designed to improve physical, cognitive, creative, and social development while fostering imaginative play and friendships. Other park amenities include basketball courts, tennis courts, pavilions available for rental, restrooms, picnic tables, and outdoor fitness equipment. There are also two hardcourts for pickleball. This park is fully fenced for safety and is beautifully landscaped and it is close to downtown Winter Park where you can find shopping and dining options. This park is the perfect place for a morning stroll, a birthday party, play, or a picnic. Phelps Park appeals to all ages. Community Parks don't come much nicer than this one.

He enjoyed everything this park has to offer- watching the big kids play on the big kid playground, playing on the "little tikes" playground, pushing his wagon around the walking loop, watching some guys play basketball on the courts, and best of all, running around on the splash pad! Shady Park is located in the historic Hannibal Square in Winter Park. Hannibal Square was founded…read morein 1881 as the African-American part of Winter Park. The residents provided the labor that built the town of Winter Park and they worked as domestic servants for wealthy families. The railroad tracks provided the dividing line in the town with whites living on the east side of the tracks and blacks on the west side. You can learn more about the history of this area at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center located across the street from the park. Shady Park is located next to a community center. There is a paved walkway, benches, and a gazebo. There is also a splash pad for kids to have wet fun. My favorite part of the park is Molecular dog. The sculpture was created by Miami artist Robert Chambers. Molecular dog is a five foot tall, eight foot long bronze sculpture of a dog. At first glance it looks like a blow up balloon sculpture but on closer examination it is the three molecule structure for propane. Chambers created the art work to highlight the qualities of propane that make it more environmentally friendly than gasoline. Liquefied petroleum gas is cleaner and cheaper than gasoline. It is also colorless and odorless. I really enjoyed learning about the history of this place and seeing the art sculpture. Although not as well known or trafficked as Central Park, Winter Park's larger and more well known park, this small park has it's charm.

I am sure that this park serves the particular neighborhoods around it well. There are some great parks in the Orlando area and honestly this park gets overlooked and overshadowed (a bit of pun intended there) by those significantly larger parks. I would recommend that if you are in the area that this place wouldn't be the worst place to check out. I will say that our lord your Parks have more to offer and if you're looking for a destination type park, you would probably be better suited looking for one of them.

Wow, this is a really cool park right in the 'New Downtown' of Oviedo!…read more It sits on a 108-acre mixed use development surrounding Center Lake Park which has two amphitheaters, a dog park, splash pad, swan and paddle boat rentals ($5), a lakeside promenade, playground, and large indoor event center that can be rented for wedding reception, party's and other events. In the surrounding area there a several other eateries, restaurants, an ice cream shop, The Food Factory (Food Hall) which has live music, a gorgeous indoor pub (Park Pub), along with other retail shops and luxury apartments. The dock provided excellent sightings of turtles, small fish, water fowl, and vegetation on the bottom of Clear Lake. Picnic Tables with Covered Pavilions equiped with Charcoal Grills spaced far apart to provide some privacy for gatherings. Upgraded Playground for Younger People & Families located directly near Parking Lot. Extensive Old Growth Oaks, Covered in Spanish Moss, Providing Extensive Shading, to Nearly All Areas in the park with Seating spaced throughout & a Playground. No Restrooms but Several Water Fountains. Across the Street from a Public School & other Local Government Facilities. Located a Very Short Distance from John Young Parkway & Interstate 4. Working Class, Old Orlando, Urban Neighborhood. Welcoming and located on the Clearest Lake in Orlando. Large Parking Area. Plenty of Field Space for Some Athletic Purposes. It seems the neighborhood enjoys this park, people were walking the paved path, a gentleman was on the dock, I even saw an industrious older man with a pail and a metal detector, looking for his pot of gold or some other form of riches. As stated, this is not a place I would recommend to "get back to nature," however for a neighborhood park, it admirably serves its purpose.

The stump remains. There used to be an incredible piece of art carved into the tree. There are still other great trees remaining though. Lots of trees. One time I went there on a cool autumn morning and I thought I had passed into dog HEAVEN!!! The fancy dog rescue groups met up and there were tons of incredible dog breeds, especially the ones that look like big fluffy mops. I've been here numerous times, & this park means a lot to me. I have incredible memories. *Beware of the lake, there might be alligators. (I used to enjoy watching the sailboat lessons.) *Best if you wear boots. Last time I ended up with a bunch of dirt in my shoes. *I've only seen 2 dog fights. Stay close to your dog. *Once, I saw what appeared to be coyote fur on a fence, there might be one around there sometimes. The walking trails in the woods/forest part is really fun. A guy used to play his guitar in a center area. I like walking my dogs through the woods there. Sad when I see my dogs years later unable to walk like they previously could, or disoriented, lost in there. We sure did enjoy that park extensively. Bring dog shampoo & a towel if you want, the dog shower bench is free.

You can reserve a pavilion in the park office in person. I paid $40 for a reservation on a Saturday morning that could have held up to 40 people and it was located right next to the restrooms and there was even a beach volleyball set up which was really fun. I enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone and I will go back.

There are lots of pickle ball and tennis courts. Plenty of parking spots and it's also pet friendly! There are doggy poo bags and trash. There are also pavilions you can rent.
