Here we are, the last day of instruction (05/29/2020) for my grandson. He has grown here from…read morekindergarten through fifth grade and it has been the best experience ever. From his first day of registration for kindergarten to his last day in elementary his has learned above and beyond our expectations while growing spiritually. From days filled with fun activities such as Cardinal County to the most grueling of days of mostly tests, he has always learned to the highest level. There have been many days when he came home feeling over burdened but that was just part of the learning process. Yes, there has been a few rough days such as friends lost (for now) or getting called in to the vice-principal's office for a "chat"...his days were not pristine but the other 99.9% was great. From his kindergarten teacher, Mrs Lokkesmoe, to the trio of fifth grade teachers it has been the best we could ask for. So far this sounds like what you should expect from any school but where Woodland Christian Schools family really shine, was during the COVID-19 restrictions. Once the State and county implemented the restrictions, the administration put the student's and staff's safety first and the Distance Learning began almost immediately. While other schools and school district were talking about it, Woodland Christian School implemented it. By day three of the State's Shelter At Home orders, the students were online and learning continued. By day four, the kids were having their first online class meeting. It was great to see the trio of teachers pool their resources together and make it happened for all the students. Side note from the teachings, there are a few students here that are not Christian and the are welcomed with open arms. To the "trio", Mrs. Lottridge, Mrs. Heskett, and Mrs. McGinnis along with Mr. Devine, Mrs. Geiser, Mr. Diehl and many more WE THANK YOU!

(we love you ceaser) there are are so many videos of people having seggs and fights AT SCHOOL. all the guy subs, teachers and security are all perverts. the librarian is horrible she's so rude for absolutely no reason. the air conditioning, lights and wifi go out at least once a week most of the "problem students" are just undiagnosed kids with adhd which the school targets and makes harder for them to function which makes them end up at cache creek that's another thing the school just dumps the students at cache creek there's probably more im forgetting but if you love and value ur child's PHYSICAL and MENTAL health please don't bring them here i promise you this school is horrible

I spent a significant amount of time working here and it is nothing short of a nightmare…read more Administration is unprofessional and downright unethical. There are many days the principal doesn't show up to work until 1pm and when she is there she is yelling, screaming and belittling the office staff. I have openly witnessed administration making jokes about the Hispanic student population as well as the SPED population. I have never worked in a place with such low student and teacher morale. Teachers are miserable and what can you expect from a district that hasn't given them a cost of living increase in several years. As miserable as they are, the teachers do try hard and want the best for students. The office staff is nice and friendly and they want to do their jobs but it is difficult when they are being constantly belittled. Even the vice principals are not immune from the disgusting insults and abuse from the principal. Discipline is non existent. They will boast about restorative practices but in reality there is maybe 1 person who has been trained on them and it is not a school-wide practice. Students have no reason to buy in. They are given no reason to care and more importantly they are not held to a high standard. Of course students will perform poorly if that's all you expect from them. Teachers are bullied into passing students. Those high graduation rates each year are a sham and disgusting. If a student is a "problem" student, they're shipped off to (insert any of the continuation schools here.). No attempts at rehabilitation are made. Importantly, if this school's Aeries system is ever audited there will be an absolute GLARING lack of student documentation in the system. Students who should have a laundry list of interventions have none. Students who have had multiple social emotional or mental health check ins are not logged. How can staff reference anything in this school in regards to a student when there next to no documentation? It's absurd. The SPED department is woefully neglected meaning the students with the highest needs are being left to fend for themselves and their teachers are left with minimal support. Woodland, this school is detriment to your students. Unfortunately not everyone has the means to move their child to another school and they will be stuck attending WHS and I wish them luck. There are some fabulous teachers here but the negatives outweigh the positives to such an extent that I legitimately pity any poor soul who decides to work or send their child here.

My introduction to the school was two years ago and I have been very impressed with the cleanliness of the school, the faculty and staff. I am a grandparent of a student here and have volunteered for school trips and other activities that appear to really engage the students, like the spelling bee recently held, of which, my grandson was part of. Apparently, the students were selected by their classroom teacher and peers which was is both an honor and difficult to be in front of an audience of 4-5 grade peers (who can be brutal at that age). However, the students were respectful and cheered for both correct and incorrect spelling bee'ers, and it was fun to watch their reactions especially at the final champion. Another thing I was impressed with was they have a program where students are loaned a laptap for reading at home purposes that includes a wi-fi router for the laptop. They do not have a uniform policy, or bus transportation for students. This is a school that I feel my grandson is cared for and taught well which gives me peace of mind knowing he is receiving a good public education.
