It is a smaller pond than Davis Senior High, and there is less of an academic pressure-cooker vibe at DV. The students and faculty there are accepting of different folks and the atmosphere is very welcoming. There is academic rigor without brutal competition, which to me is the educational sweet spot. The principal at the time (Heather Church) is very wishy-washy of when she wants to follow the rules and guidance of the diocese and private school systems versus the Davis public school system. If you have an issue with the school and take it all the way up the chain of command to the Superintendent/Regional Director Catholic School Department just know they are of no help in resolving issues and parents speaking out.

The school's focus on Christian character development has helped our children to become more loving, considerate, honest, and well-behaved. It's also a challenging curriculum, and we have been surprised at how much our kids have learned each year, especially in language arts and math. Our kids have also really enjoyed the more creative components of the curriculum--the art classes, plays and performances, and field trips. We've seen both kids grow in confidence as they've learned to get up and speak or perform in front of an audience. We looked at many other schools in the area (both Vacaville and Davis) before we decided to enroll our kids here. And we made the right choice. The teachers are excellent, the other kids are friendly and kind, and we are certain that our kids are getting an exceptional education and spiritual foundation. The teachers approach their subjects with incredible enthusiasm and have extensive professional experience and personal care for each child. Our students come home daily excited to share about what they have learned in the classroom. We especially appreciate the team teaching approach at all grade levels which allows each subject to be taught by experts who focus on creating the best learning experience in their areas. Each teacher also deeply cares about the character development of each student, providing individual feedback about how to grow and thrive academically and to be successful Christian young people. As a student my wife found her writing skills especially solidified in the level of feedback and engagement the incredible teacher to student ration afforded. It's deceptive to charge assessment fee when admissions knows there isn't room available. Bad business practice not to return calls as promised.

In my mind that sums everything up. A school with a sense of importance above the children and families they serve. It is not unusual for a school such as this to have this attitude. It is simple disappointing. Remember, if the person set up to interact with you when making an enrollment decision is unhelpful and inexperienced, think what the kids will get. She is still one of my contacts until today. Man, maybe I'm biased because the kiddos in my classroom where so freakin adorable and smart. There is a nice big black top for the kids to play, including a play structure and a field. There are always yard duties out. The cafeteria also has an outdoor area for sitting, so it's nice to have both. The secretary and office personnel were always friendly, and I can't say that about every school. The other teachers I talked to were also nice. Plus, one of my friend's mom works here =)
