If the staff were half as friendly and competent as the members, I would almost have one thing positive to say about this gym. If you actually decide to waste your money here, God forbid you try to cancel your membership as they will put a hold on your account, rather than canceling it, so they can continue to charge you monthly as well as tack on additional "annual" and "equipment" fees. Once you go back for the second time to try to finally cancel your account, they'll hit you with almost $50 worth of "Cancellation" fees, as if they haven't stolen enough of your money already. Plenty of other exceptional gyms to chose from in Richmond that I would recommend to a friend in a heartbeat, unless of course you just need to waste some money.

Positive feedback: the members and front desk staff seem friendly. Opportunities to improve: cleanliness could be better. The coffee station in the lobby has little fruit fly insects all over the place. The entire place looks shabby and rundown. There are no schedules or information available for prospective members. Reason I quit after four hours: Management is unprepared and unprofessional. I was put on a computer for four hours (after the boss was late) to do modules. No new hire paperwork, no tour of the building, no introductions to other staff. I was given incorrect information about breaks and hours worked. (I looked it up online and corrected the manager.) The manager had tested positive for Covid last week and was back to work already- hacking, sneezing and coughing all over the desk. No visible means of sanitation, wipes, masks that I could see. After the professionalism and adherence to company policies I am familiar with from my previous YMCA, I simply have to look elsewhere for employment.

The massage chair hits the spot if you are aching or just need to loosen those muscles up. The tanning beds are ok. Bed 4 is really scratched up on the surface but bed 5 is good. Still haven't tried out the stand up beds but plan on doing so in the future. It's always clean inside which is a huge plus. The reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that the gym is more focused in cardio training than weight training and for me that's causes them to lose a star

Edge is the BEST thing that has happened to me, in my fitness journey. I wasn't a fan of…read moretraditional gyms or really even working out. I was gaining weight, felt crummy, and just generally needed to work on my health. I joined EBBC in February but didn't adjust my diet. I could tell a difference and I was definitely starting to feel better but results weren't coming as quickly as I would've liked. I joined the Summer Shred and I have loved it! The shred has shown me how to eat healthy, without forgoing the things that I love. I'm still able to have all my favorites but I'm more aware of what fuel my body needs. I feel SO much better and I feel so much more informed about what I'm eating. Some things are such simple substitutions and I will never go back to how I was living. I have burned fat, toned muscle, and overall lost inches simply from following simple macros. Jules teaches you all about macros, weight loss, and how important it is to fuel your body with what it needs. She is always there to answer questions, day or night. Having a plan and having people to hold you accountable makes all the difference. I was told results are made in the kitchen and I couldn't agree more! I can tell I'm getting so much stronger in (and out of) the gym - mentally, and physically! The Shred isn't just physical, it is mental just as much. I had to make a choice for myself and Jules shared early on, that time was going to pass no matter how we responded and it made me really consider where I wanted to be 6 weeks from now. I'm so glad I took the plunge and I am so happy not only with my results but to keep working on my goals! EBBC as a whole is great and there's no place I'd rather spend an hour a day. I went to a few classes here a while back and it was not a great experience. The instructors seemed…read morereally arrogant toward beginners--a brilliant strategy for retaining clients! On a personal note, my buddy who also went there for a while and I later saw the head dude in town and said hi to him and called him shifu (instructor-what we called him in class) and he replied that since my friend was no longer a member he "didn't have the right to call him that" -- I thought of several other titles that seemed fitting. I was also a bit freaked out by how gross the mats were. When I wrestled in school we had to really clean the mats before we put them away so that people didn't get warts from them. I know no one likes cleaning, but it's a pretty important part of running a gym.
