Lenka's mixed-ages class quickly became the highlight of our week. She is an incredible educator and her positive energy is immediately apparent. Music Together is an incredible program.... the music and the songbooks quickly became favorites in my household... we still use all of them to this day. Lenka, however, is the shining star of the program. She is adored by my kids and I know will be one of those people I happily remember when I reflect back on "the toddler years". Do yourself a favor and take one of her classes... she also does free demos to try it out!!

We've been amazed watching our daughter develop musically over the past year and a half. She has been very successful in strengthening the Music Together of Belmont community by organizing fun events outside of class. Highest recommendation!

My seven-year-old daughter has been learning piano with Gene for a year now. I did a great deal of…read moreresearch on group lessons vs. one-on-one lessons and then searched far and wide (for over a year, as I was preparing for the right time to introduce a new activity to my daughter) only to find him a few blocks from my house! I only have positive things to say about him. My daughter was first exposed to the piano through the music class at Chinese school. My daughter would linger by the piano after class, and her teacher, who played the piano during the lesson, mentioned that my daughter might enjoy piano lessons. Because my daughter already exhibited signs of interest, I felt that one-on-one was the way to go. I wanted a teacher who was 1) a little outside of the box, 2) willing to make the experience fun for my child - not too strict and 3) experienced enough to have seen a wide range of students to know what to do for my child if/when she experiences difficulty. Neither I nor my husband play the piano, so if our daughter had problems we wouldn't know if it was the material or the teacher/teaching method/style. With Gene, who has tremendous experience teaching in public schools, I knew that I wouldn't have to worry so much about pedagogy. More recently, when Gene updated his website, I learned that Gene is a graduate of Berklee College of Music which I didn't know when I hired him. I feel very privileged to have him as my daughter's piano teacher. During the first few months, my daughter would come out of the lessons completely exhilarated and bursting with glee. When things started to get harder, Gene was able to help us get through it successfully. Now, my daughter goes to our electronic keyboard on her own. I have to pull her away from the keyboard to get her to school on time and to get her to bed at a decent hour! I'm extremely happy with how my daughter has taken to piano, and I'm very fortunate to have Gene teaching her. Gene is very patient and works with students from where they are. My daughter may arrive to her lesson extremely excited about a new song she learned on her own. Gene will listen and give pointers, and then will redirect her back to the day's lesson. He's good at managing the pace of the lesson. My daughter always enjoys going and the time zips by.

If I had an easy child, I am sure it would have been a good program, but my child is a bit challenging but is sweet, smart and well- behaved.. He did ok with the camp. I found out during xylophone class my child was being disruptive the first half of the year and not participating the 2nd half of the year. What really annoys me is that there was no communication with me the Mom. If a student is having trouble for an extended period of time, the parent should be contacted and a plan created. I was told, well its only a 45 minute group class and the teacher is busy. Well, that is unacceptable without proper parent communication, expectations could not be set. My 6 year old now has no interest in instrumental music. Also, during last year's music class i was called to pick up my child because he could not stop crying...Well, turns out he had a small cut near his eye and needed 3 stitches. He was injured by the sharp edge of the whiteboard. Instead of looking at his face, the teacher was annoyed that he was crying. I ended up asking for a partial refund because it was clear that my son was not prepared for the end of the year performance and he is a lot happier now. They also have a draconian refund policy. I understand that this is a school but they are so money hungry that they are inflexible. If you have that perfect child, this school may work well for you. If you have a more mature student this may be the school for you. But beware.

An absolutely wonderful learning experience!! My daughter started attending Music Together classes…read morewhen she was 8 months old. She is 17 months now and has shown so much growth! She can independently sing many of the words in each song and this has carried over to finishing rhymes in sentences when reading books. Her language development has taken off and she repeats many of the concepts at home that she hears in class, such as numbers, colors and patterns. She loves the teachers and interacting with other children, both older and younger than she is. As a parent and early childhood educator, I am very particular when it comes to high quality curriculum and music. Music Together delivers both, as well as caring and nurturing teachers. We look forward to attending classes for many years to come!

My daughter is now almost 2 1/2 and she can't wait to go to music class each week---and, frankly, neither can I. It is impossible not to have fun there! She knows so many of the songs and she (and my husband and I) sing them together in the car and at home. A woman I work with heard me humming one day and said "Music Together? I took my kids there and my grandchildren go now too!" People just love this program and I can see why. The teachers are wonderful. We have had a chance (with make ups and summer classes) to be in class with all three teachers at this location. Each one of them has a different style, but what is a constant is that they all clearly love being around children and they are all talented musicians. They make the songs come alive with dances and props. The children learn the songs quickly because the activities that illustrate the songs are fun and stick with them. Even the babies in the class react to the songs! It's really something to watch their little faces as their moms and dads and caregivers and their big brothers and sisters dance and sing. Last night, my daughter sang me a song we are just learning this semester called "Tomorrow's Now Today." She got 75% of the words and she was dead on with the melody. It was amazing. Give it a try. Music Together will be the best 45 minutes of your week!

I'm thrilled with my progress as a violinist and can't imagine studying with anyone else at this point. One of Stan's greatest gifts as a teacher is the way he demonstrates music. When he plays, he expresses it so vividly that I can see, feel, and hear exactly what he means. Those moments stay with me, and I'm able to draw on them during my practice, which makes his lessons especially impactful. His teaching will stay with me for the rest of my life. I also want to mention Dina, who helps organize the schedule at Newton Violin Studio. She is wonderful--always responsive and helpful when changes come up. I'm grateful for her support in keeping everything running smoothly. I can't recommend Stan and the Newton Violin Studio highly enough.
