I called Luis at the very beginning of February and asked if he would be able to facilitate me getting my private pilots in an accelerated manner. I am from out of town and only had a month of availability to work with. I had a bit of prior flying experience, though it had been years since I last flew. I was definitely rusty. I was also struggling to retain the information from the online ground school platforms so I requested ground instruction. Luis assessed where my skill level, and with my instructor Travis, we came up with a plan to work towards my goal. Travis was thorough, organized, patient, and knowledgeable. He walked me through a preflight check, explained the instruments, told me about our flight, and then helped me learn how to pilot the aircraft. Ty let me fly a few minutes at a time during this first flight which was very fun. We had some serious wind (gusts to 20) so Ty did all the landing while I watched from the copilot seat. He landed us gently and I was very impressed.

I did some training with an instructor in my local area but couldn't quite get the training across…read morethe finish line, so I decided to take some time off work and do nothing but flight school. Jamie was super helpful and flexible in arranging several days where we did nothing but flight training, and I passed my checkride on the first try. He was great at injecting surprises into my training that made me a better pilot. My favorite was when the engine "failed" on takeoff - nobody else had ever done that to me in almost 80 hours of training - and I'm grateful for the knowledge that I can handle any crisis. If I had it to do over again, I'd start off with Fly Accelerated training - just take the time off work and do the training all at once. You'll get it done faster and can broaden your experience with other planes later with local instructors easier than if you are trying to balance your work schedule and flight training and raising kids or whatever else you have on your plate. In the long run you'll save money if you just do it all at once, and Jamie is top-notch.
