I only had a small problem with my bike, but otherwise my instructors, Sebastian and Isaac, were really great, and I had a great time! It is a little difficult for the first time riding, but if you listen to the instructions and put in the effort, it's easier than others make it sound. read more

Had a great experience here. Have some riding experience but came here to satisfy the DC DMV motorcycle endorsement requirements. My instructors (Hank and Phil) were top-notch. They really, really know their stuff, were patient and thorough and extremely good at instruction. I was very impressed. I picked up a lot of new tips I'd never thought of, even though I've been riding seven or eight years. They allowed translators to accompany a few students who didn't speak English very well. Terrible teachers, and after repeated, asking for support in the basics and seeing that I'm struggling at the beginning they completely ignore that and push me to keep going, which only got worse. Instructor do not care about the people in the back of the line to the point of being rude to students. For example, Wayne entail the student, myself, this is not a two-way conversation. If you already know how to ride a bike this may be the class for you, but for the beginners like myself, please avoid. read more

Had instructors Sean and Gary for the weekend 3-wheel license class. Can't say enough good things. They were incredibly friendly and funny, keeping us engaged and occupied. However, as soon as the helmets were on these guys went into instructor mode with top notch precision and commitment. They were concerned with our safety throughout and even pulled a rider out of the course mid-way who was clearly not sufficiently coordinated and could have seriously hurt someone. Most businesses would be thinking revenue and given the rider a ton of extra chances. They gave them more than a few opportunities to get it together, but it was clear the student didn't have basic co-ordination down. They were patient and kind with her regardless and it was dealt with very professionally. As for the training and testing. They over-prepared us using exercises on both days for the evaluation at the end of the second day, which felt easy and straight forward. No one went into it confused. Everyone that got to the evaluation stage i.e. everyone except that one rider, passed it comfortably and got their licenses. If you call and can line up your schedule to get Ray and Sean, I would make the extra effort. They're really kind and considerate people that take this stuff super seriously and are exceptionally knowledgeable. read more

Not a beginner course at all, we went over everything in regards to a motorcycle like a beginner course, but the course was very rushed. My instructor himself said that they were on a time crunch because they had an afternoon course. I didn't realize that this course had a time limit. It mentioned no time limits in any documents I read. I was the only female at the course, I felt that I was undermined because of it. It came time to choosing which bike we would be riding for the entirety of the course I had to step away to grab my helmet and gloves from my car. Though I didn't expect them to wait for me I didn't expect to get left with the heaviest bike there, might I add, I weigh 125 pounds. The instructor saw multiple times that I was struggling with the weight of the bike and still made no move to help the situation while there were two perfectly good dirt bikes, which were occupied by two gentlemen. Again, THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER COURSE. If you fall behind simply because everyone else in your group has a bit more experience than you then you will fail. I failed because I dropped the bike, I was basically told that everyone else was getting the hang of things besides me and they couldn't wait for me so they handed me a piece of paper said I could retake my two days for $200 and that was it. 359$ down the drain. read more

The motorcycles they have will not pass a state inspection. The bikes have been dropped with bent foot clutches, lights broken hanging by the wire. Not to mention you can't bring your own bike that you are going to ride. Not a beginner course AT ALL! If you get the only cruiser there, it's so old that you have to sit there and warm it up while everyone else is practicing their friction point warm-ups. Example after it's warmed up and you try to practice your friction point; it just stalls and dies. The mall location has badly faded lines and might I add the few cones they use aren't cones at all but their palm sized little bubbles that are faded in color. The instructor was pushed for time so he had us come in an hour earlier the second day. There is no point system so good luck getting a quick explanation on what you did wrong. What was said if I "do that again, I'll be dismissed" So let's look at this from an average Joe's perspective. Faded lines and using about 4 faded pushbuttons as cones. Do the left u-turn then do the right u-turn while seeing an open space; no boundaries just imagination. Apparently my right u-turn was too wide; not knowing that was problem, I try it again just alot slower. So I was dismissed and as he was writing me up he said I almost ran into 4 people. Who was these 4 people when it's one person at time on the course? So imagine spending almost $400 and then writing you up to spend $200 so I can retake the course. Sounds like a scam to me. If you're going to spend this money on this course for "BASIC" beginner level, you should find the course exercises like the do AT DMV, paint the small pucks the original color, and repaint the lines and bring your own cones to setup boundaries. read more

I don't think this is a basic rider course (BRC) like others have said in their company facebook page review section, because: 1. they are looking for experienced riders, 2. They will give you the instruction but will not give you enough time for practice, maybe 5-7 minutes of practice for each exercise and will expect you to ride like a 20 years experienced track rider. People actually go there to learn the bike from scratch and pass the test so that they can enjoy it. They don't go there to get discouraged feelings. I took Two wheel BRC course on 08/06 at woodbridge location, some of the guys dropped the bike, falling over the bike, one bike even doesn't wanna start after fall off, few people even stall the bike more than 3 times during the test but still they passed and I didn't have any of these issues but I failed. I agree that I needed more leaning skill but its fixable over the time by practicing it but doesn't mean I have to be failed. I am not perfect, that's why I am a new rider and went there to to learn it. Two people were dismissed even before they started riding it because Coaches were too impatient to teach them. Coaches will yell at you and will try to dismiss you from the course if you are not doing it right. What a waste of money and time for them, its sad! So, I believe I was not fairly evaluated by the Coach and had a feeling like I was chosen to be failed. Another thing for the management, for a new rider, are those bike actually suitable to pass the test? Some are very heavy and some have clutch issues to control. I believe for the test, you just need as simple as possible with less weight, a smaller sized bike so that each new riders can easily maneuver and pass the test.    No, I don't recommend this BRC course here, you can be the victim like me or others who were eliminated and spent $395 plus 20 hours  training under the 98 degree temperature, finished almost 20 exercises, still failed and a couple others from the different groups. I can't imagine it. Some people will leave 5 stars and will say they had great experiences, but those guys have already practiced and learned by themselves at home, not on the spot. Like other guy said in company facebook page, if you have zero experience, don't go there, they won't teach you from scratch. In my opinion, this course should be divided into two parts, Level 1 should be a real zero experience rider and coaches should give them a whole 2 days lesson focusing on only 5 tests that will be evaluated, how to pass the test and real basic stuff like how to lean the bike, friction zone control and other stuff. After two days of lessons, all zero experience riders will know how to pass the test and will encourage more people to learn the motorcycle and everyone will have a feeling like: anyone can ride a motorcycle and enjoy it. Whoever passes level 1, they can move to level 2 to get some extra experience whoever has interest for the rest of the real life exercise.     For a new rider I will suggest buying some orange cones online and going to an empty parking lot with your light weighted bike and practicing with it. DMV only takes 4 parts tests, you don't need 20 exercises and getting a failing result from BRC class which costs $395. Youtube has tons of training videos with cones setup that you can practice, under $100 you can get your license easily. Yes, you can take the MSF course if you want to learn from an instructor, don't expect you will pass the test but to learn some advanced stuff for $359 plus insurance fee $35 or $25 if you can afford it. read more

Reasonable prices, and a Saturday- Sunday schedule for the MSF class really set this school apart. I was not available for the usual three day schools, so this really worked. It's classroom at the start of each day, and then you spend the rest of each day out on the bikes. High quality instruction with a big emphasis on safety is how they run things. I think we started with 10 students, and they bounced 2. This class is very doable, but don't show up without the right mindset. If they don't think you are progressing at the speed at which the class moves, or if they feel like you are not listening or being unsafe, bye bye. This is an adult class, and they are teaching drivers ed for motorcycles. At the end you will take the DMV test and if you pass, you will get your paperwork on the spot to take to the DMV for your motorcycle endorsement. This class takes the place of the DMV test. They provide the bikes, helmets, and gloves. You just need jeans, long sleeves, boots, and sunglasses. read more

I switched over to a PowerRide University course from apex cycle education because Apex basically stole my money and did not provide the course. By contrast, PowerRide was communicative and one of the only schools nearby that wasn't completely booked for weekend MSF BRC courses (the primary beginner licensing course). Further, they have a unique Sat-Sun only class, when most use a Friday evening for class time with range time on the actual weekend. This made their course very easy to fit into my scheudle. The course itself was good, the instructors were clear and helpful if a little informal, which was both a positive and a negative. Positive because we finished the entire classroom portion on Saturday, and were able to leave a but early after range time on Sunday. That did leave the classroom portion feeling a bit like an afterthought, but they did a solid job communicating the key skills and imparting wisdom. The range bikes were impressive too, a mix of 2020 Yamaha MT-03's, Honda Rebel 300s, Suzuki TU250x's and a couple tiny Chinese bikes for easier handling. Overall a good experience, though I left a star off because the instructors basically gave everyone explicit permissions to go maskless inside. Outside is fine, but in an enclosed space for 4 hours I really didn't feel comfortable, and given the rest of the participants seemed relieved to not wear one, I didn't think I could speak up to request they be worn. Aside that, PowerRide offered a concise and useful experience. read more

I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn to ride, regardless of skill level. I had zero experience so I was really nervous and intimidated going into the class but was welcomed happily and taught with patience and kindness. Esteban and Dave were my coaches who were both absolutely amazing. They emphasized safety and understood that this was new and a bit scary for me. Also, Lisa, who coordinated the class for me was exceptional. She was able to reschedule me and hold my slot due to extenuating circumstances. I came into the course with no rider history and left feeling a bit veteran. Hank Waters especially helped my process go smoothly considering i had to reschedule but the class was 100% worth it. Definitely beats having to deal with the hassle of the DMV! TWO THUMBS UP read more
