I never write reviews as I believe people usually take out their anger in the wrong way over the internet. But since it's been several months since not bringing my puppy back to Powderly Meadows after bringing him there 5 days a week for about 3 months, I thought I would maybe hear from them as to why they lost my business but never did.
I will explain why- I started bring my lab puppy to Powderly Meadows at just 12 weeks of age every weekday while we were at work. The staff was friendly and seemed very attentive to my puppy. A few times that I had dropped him off in the morning, the owner was there and she was never very friendly to me which I found odd that an actual business owner was not friendly to her customers.
A few months went by and it was now in the middle of winter (January) one evening my boyfriend had picked up our puppy and he was soaking wet. He had asked one of the staff members why the puppy was soaking wet and they just giggled and said that they were playing outside with the hose. He came home and I found it very odd as to why they would be spraying dogs with hoses in the middle of the dead cold winter- especially a 5 month old puppy. It was then, we decided to stop taking our puppy to daycare there. About a week after, we discovered large sores inside our puppy's mouth and immediately brought him to the vet. He was diagnosed with canine papilloma virus. He then had to be quarantined from all other dogs until the sores went away which took about 2.5 months and on top of that, he will never be cured of the canine papilloma. The sores may go away, but the virus will stay dormant in his system for the rest of his life which can cause possible health problems down the road.
I am writing this review to warn other dog owners, especially those with puppies to not bring their dog here. After speaking with other dog owners in the dog world and a woman whom used to work at Powderly Meadows, I was informed that they spray the dogs down with water hoses to break up dog fights. That explains why my dog was coming home soaking wet and makes sense since they only usually have one staff member on in the morning with 10+ dogs. Not to mention, the facility smells disgusting. I thought this was normal until I visited other dog facilities that were as clean as hospitals. I hope others do not have to deal with such a bad experience at this facility. read more
