So the hotel was completed in 2008, and if you know your history about the EU financial crisis ,, this property was probably built with some of that P.I.G.S money. The property is definitely showing some wear and tear but when you walk into the bright airy lobby you wouldn't think that it was built that many years ago. Amenities wise there is no concierge, bellman, or valet, but the front desk clerk was very professional, cordial, and more than happy to give out suggestions on where to dine or where to catch the best sunsets. BTW, the property is just a couple of blocks up from Mareta Beach. I reserved a partial ocean view room, and both windows face the ocean so I still got an ocean view without having to pay a premium. Or since the Ocean is right down the street from the hotel you can get a regular room and just walk outside of the hotel or go out on the public balcony for an ocean view. The room was a decent size but lacked luggage space and the bathroom had only one towel rack. If you travel a lot, then you understand why you need space for your bags and hang bathing suits. The bed was comfy and although we didn't use it there is a small LCD TV. The bathroom is pretty large and two people can easily move about. There is a cramped elevator that could fit maybe 3 Americans but most people take the stairs, but comes in handy when you need to get your luggage to the third floor or you are too hungover to get to the basement Breakfast Buffet. Yes there is an awesome continental buffet with fresh baked goods, and local items like fruit and meats. The buffet dining room is pretty large so even if the hotel is full, you can always find a table. The breakfast staff works really hard to keep everything stocked, but you got to remember that you are in a beach town and not in Manhattan. If I ever go on a surf trip to Sagres again I would probably stay at the Mareta Beach Boutique Bed and Breakfast hotel due to its central location, walking distance, near shops, restaurants, and beaches again.

An awful experience from start to finish. The only thing this place has going for it is the pool…read moreand views. The walls are thin, the staff is rude and it's impossible to sleep there. The beds are terrible. It's not a four star hotel!

If I tell you I will have to kill you…read more OK, I have to let it go .... no more secrets ...i have been holding back far too long now so here are the deets on my Analogue heaven running parallel with the daft Digital World i normally inhabit. It is rustic, minimalist and ever giving of that fuzzy feeling when things got a bit pear shaped back on the mean streets of the big city. You will not get la-di-da fancy treatment just basic bed, clean sheets, good ice cold Sagres Cerveza and a good nosebag of Huevos a la flamenca to stab your crusty bread in to while you soothe your hot skin by the mini pool bar. This is my hidy hole when i need to slow it down to 33rpm and is within walking distance of the best beach on the Algarve and a ten minute taxi ride to Nut town (Albufeira) . Add to that Scooby's Dive Bar just around the corner and all the boxes are checked. For those of you of who think of the American dive bars, think again. Scooby's has a super deep pool where we while away the day throwing Euros in and then diving and pushing down 4 metres to try and catch it before it hits the bottom. Simple stuff you say, yes indeedy, but immense fun in the blazing sun. Hold on. One more secret .... Just aways down towards the beach is a Finca hidden behind the trees. It is owned by a director at F.C. Barcelona and they have pool parties. We go. We drink Caipirinha made from Cachaça shipped in from Rio. We dance. We drink more Caipirinha. Rinse & repeat. OK. Now i have to kill you.
