One company quoted me $900 to charge my unit and blamed the price on the cost of refrigerant. Borderline criminal. But, the Powell Brothers show up on time with a more than fair in fact, generous quote. Not only did they fix my unit, but they gained my admiration and friendship. This is what the Powell Brothers bring to our community. The national chains are going to hijack your bank account for their shareholders. These fellas work hard and do great work at a more than fair price. They should be your first and only consideration for heat and air. They are mine.

Robert clearly knows his stuff - answered all of my questions and when they had finished, they now blow way harder than before and much colder (and now cleaner, too!). Awesome, but the other system in our main house had a gas leak that I pointed out to the man giving the estimate. Well, they said that they could not test the A/C because it was too cool outside. Be back in a week. They found the gas leak also so that shut that part of the system off.. Over one month later, they contact me and ask for another $750 to fix the leak and some valve. I thought that the $1800 I paid was more than enough to fix the problems. Why more when they were only here for a few hours and really didn't accomplish what I asked for? And a month passed before they got back to me.

Me as a business owner love working with smaller business and they treated us like family. They went above and beyond to take care of us. We have a new unit in 2 days. They cleaned up like they were never there. We even had a light that wouldn't come on and Ogle stayed late to fix it. I want to warn people that Alex charges whatever he can get away with. I agreed to a $200.00 fee to…read morepressure test my gas lines and have him do the required gas safety inspection with the City of Farragut. He told me that after a pressure test on my gas line that there were two leaks in the gas line. He said the pipes could be rusted out and would need to be replaced. If I wanted this to pass inspection I had to okay his estimate for service for $1,155.00 This was $200 for his fee and $955.00 for the repair. I expected to be told that they dug up rusted pipes and replaced them. However, I found out that he subbed out the work to a plumbing company and the two leaks were minor. They involved changing the pipe tape where the fittings went together. This reminds me of going to the car dealer for a noise in the engine and being told it could be the transmission and if you really need to use the car then you have to approve the cost of repair. When coming back to pick up the car you are told it was just a belt, but, because you approved the cost of replacing the transmission, you have to pay $3,000 not $300 for a belt. I don't know if Alex Buie thought it is easy to take advantage of a person not present, or because it is easy to take advantage of a senior citizen, but the charge of $955 to replace the tape used where two fittings come together is exorbitant. I have no complaint with the work done, but I do have an issue with the ethics and the greed of Buie's Heating and Air Do not use this company if ethics and price are important to you.
