Been several years since we stopped in last, and it seems like the stock has gotten larger and more varied. Some items are spendy, but if you look around, you can find some good affordable things. Quite a bit of unique furniture out back, lots of live edge wood type offerings, some are pretty good bargains if you've priced this type of furniture other tourist spots (Gruene/Fredericksburg). Even if you're not looking for anything in particular, worth a stop just to look around. Bonus points for friendly animals, dog inside, and a super friendly cat out back. read more

We pass by Pottery Ranch constantly on our drive to San Antonio. I needed a large pot for a a lemon tree that I recently purchased and knew they would have the size I needed. The prices of these pots will shock you. Expensive! Honestly, it's my fault for not bargain shopping locally because Pottery Ranch immediately came to mind. I impulsively bought a pot. It is 19 in. tall and 17 in. diameter and it's beautiful, but it was $150. Two weeks later, I'm at a Ross shopping with a friend and find a pot (same size) for $50. Both pots were clay and both made in Vietnam. Pottery Ranch had a lot of cool stuff and they offer military a break on taxes, but shop around if you're in the market for pots. read more

I have to say when first pulling up to this place I was worried this was gonna be a lot of imports that was low quality, etc. however, was I surprised!! Everything from water features beautiful furniture , art and more.. yes, there was some Nick Maggie things however beautiful quality items as well. Huge selection inside and outdoors. This store is more like an art exhibit. There is so much stuff that it's incredibly overwhelming, and that's just the outside. When you step inside, be careful to watch out for dogs underfoot. There were so many things to see that it was too much. Then, an employee began using a bunch of incense. Then I had an unpleasant experience with a customer, so I don't think I'll be coming back here. read more

We have seen this place on the side of the road several times and it always looked fun. We finally stopped in and are glad we did. They don't only have pottery, they have modern western wall art, lighting, tabletop furnishings, plus metal and glass sculptures for the indoors and outdoors. I really appreciated the humorous sculptures and signs all over the store. They have large and small items available at every price range which makes this a shop for everyone. Some of the items are so large that you will probably need a truck to transport them. Walking through the outdoor statues was like walking through an art museum sculpture garden. They do serve coffee and have some drinks available for purchase. I would definitely stop in again to browse their items and maybe give some a new home. read more

Tourist trap - check overpriced - check Still who cares, stop by and spend sometime walking around here for a worthy use of 20-30 minutes of your time. It's full to the brim with stuff, and I mean stuff. Pottery of course; a whole butt-load of different kinds, colorful, scary, creepy, cute and all, inside and out. A bunch of leather good inside the store welcome you with that heavenly leather scent, and a variety of iron works, rugs and ancient looking furniture pieces are scattered around with nary a care. There is some awesome looking stuff here. Be sure to stop by the row of rocking chairs. Something to be said about those old fashioned wood ones even if the seat leaves your butt crying for a cushion. It's a hard rock but a rock done right. I digress ... I like butts so I went there, but that said you should consider going here if you are driving by. read more

When we passed this place on the highway, I was the one that said turn around! We got to stop! Out front is LOTS of yard art that I would never buy and never put in my yard. But it's so fun to look at! There is so much stuff. We walked up and down the outside isles. Things started getting a little more interesting. The BBQ pits. The bar stools. Rustic wooden furniture. Pottery, big and small. And we're still outside! The main building is quite large, and wall to wall...stuff. Anything and everything, you'll find something you want. Wow! What an interesting store. It have home decor form the smallest items to the largest. It's huge and the style seems to be mostly southwestern, Mexican in front but as you move into the store there are sculptures, metalworks, and glassworks. There also to be some gag items. I feel this is a store that truly has something for everyone. If you just recently moved into this area and like eclectic and unique items, this is the store for you. I love how they had water and mosquito spray for you. Very helpful. We brought several small and cute knick knacks. Great place to look for gifts! read more

I'm not from Texas, so I found this place to be utterly hilarious. I stopped as a joke - to experience some kitsch and laugh. I love places like that! This IS that experience, but it is so much more. I was incredibly surprised! They actually have lovely decor items, and I could have spent quite a bit of money here. It goes on and on forever, it seems. The furniture, decor, and other items actually are quite nice - along with a healthy selection of kitsch :) They have a lovely black dog that was so super sweet. This place is Giant and my hubby and I had a blast walking through it all, but it's so overly priced we didn't buy anything! We both loved the giant peacocks figures they had outside, but they cost $900! We could do $500 but not $900 on a lawn ornament. A lawn ornament shouldn't cost more than our longhorns. They have a brand of spices based on "shit" - I bought 4 stocking stuffers of "dip shit" for veggies. It was too cold to fully explore their yard art but I'll be back. So, my wife and I went in looking for pottery. The entrance sign and website said pet friendly, so we took our Puppy with us. My wife was looking around with our puppy on a leash and harness. As she was looking our puppy was attacked by one of what we thought was an employees dogs. It turned out to be the owner Scott's. Scott the owner's dog was not on a leash. To make matters worse My wife had to put herself in between the two dogs, while the owner laughed and just sipped his beer. I also want to point out that on Pottery Ranch's website they state, "dogs must be leashed".That is a rule in place by Scott. I guess that's just for customers and not employees, or himself. When we left we called to let the establishment know what had happened. Scott answered, my wife asked him if those were his dogs when she recognized his voice. He said the red one was, but not the dark gray one. The dark gray dog is the one who bit our puppy. However when Scott arrived we watched both the red and gray dog exit his truck. Instead of ever just apologizing, he just lied. In these short interactions it's evident that Scott is an unethical drunk liar. Pottery Ranch is NOT PET, or customer friendly! read more

Customer service here is deplorable! Walked in and two employees just looked at us and walked away. A sign of things to come, like more exceptional customer service? You bet! Not! So, we started walking around, found a few items to purchase, and headed to the register. Stood at the register waiting, while an employee 5 feet away from us, looked at us, and continued to unpack merchandise. Gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed ringing up customers was not her "job". Waited longer and a second employee came over and said "she" will be with you in a moment, referring to the woman 5 feet away from us unpacking merchandise (silly me). So all this time, the first employee saw us standing there, knowing we wanted to check out and just ignored us. Then the second employee begrudgingly said "I guess I can do it". Uh...what? Well, sister friend, you just lost a $150 sale. I took my happy butt and promptly left. Heading into San Antonio next week. I'll just go to Market Square downtown and buy what I need there. read more

Not one person working there ever asked if we needed assistance until my husband sat down on a piece of the furniture which led to a snarky comment "do you need a price on that?" Awful. I mean, my trip here could not have been worse. They have DONKEYS on the property that the staff encourages children to feed. They are touted on their website to be "kid friendly" and picture their donkeys on it. Hey, guess what? One bit my tiny little 4 year old daughter. And they don't even care! I called animal control in the end. I don't know if this is the first time this has happened, but I wanted to ensure it was the last, but the manager and employees of this place seem pretty non plussed about it all. Oh, they did kindly point out that 'I know the horse is mean, but not the donkey". So watch out for the horse too. read more

Lots of unique fun items but when it's closing time you will be locked outback. Was delayed 2 min because was trying to untiewrap an item and they locked the door on us. They knew we were out there no warning just locked it. When we went around to front still unlocked explained and instead of being kind lady was unapologetic and said we CLOSE at 6, but directed the young man ( that was very polite) to "go get it". Just felt it was rude to do to your customer. I guess the $300 we were about to spend didn't matter much. Disappointed. Everyone in the area has been so nice and helpful. Do not like to post negative but found out after that experience that the same blonde haired lady (evidently the manager) was also rude to my friend that had asked her a question about an item in the store a few minutes earlier. Felt like she imposed by asking. I am sure the rest of the staff is like the young man but will be a very long while before returning to this particular place. read more
