I always visit when I am back in the area, and today was my second visit in 2 years. Eva was on site and she is always willing to work with you for a sale. She has a nice indoor shop with a good variety of antiques and vintage. She likes to stock quality finds and it shows! Outside are some great yard art offerings and other kitschy stuff. I bought a metal cactus and a rusty roadrunner art piece, both made in Mexico. Eva offered them at 20% off! Those are going to my southwest loving mom back east There are several other buildings with offerings from vintage kitchen items to huge wooden store display pieces. I purchased a Royal Doulton figurine and the price was so good that when I saw this same item later today in another store, I paid 50% less and 75% less at Eva's. A little bisque doll head she gave me at 50%. Years ago I took a furniture item I bought from Eva to the Antiques Roadshow. The Keno brothers assessed its value at just over what Eva priced it so she knows the true value of what she has and she isn't jacking up the price. Eva buys all over the country so she brings the best variety to her Hill Country shop but stays true to the tastes of customers shopping in the Texas Hill Country. If you find yourself on the road to this business, stop in and treat yourself to a unique shopping experience and cool stuff.

There were 3 buildings that had different items. The first had a lot of plates, soap and some cabinets and things. Outback there is another room that had some chicken feeders, and other more vintage items and the final building had all the awesome cabinets and furniture items. Behind this there is also a bistro with a little garden. We didn't go to that but the rest of the place was nice. We didn't leave with anything but anyone getting the wooden furniture out back will like what they see.

When we walked in we saw military helmets in a glass case, and lots of large, heavy furniture. The facebook page said they were a women's boutique, but the sign said decor, antiques and found items. We saw some women's clothing and some jewelry but for the most part there was an eclectic mix of altered art, some at very high prices, well out of our price range in any case, and miscellany. We really could not figure out what kind of store this is hoping to be. Because they are new I am giving an extra star to give them time to see what inventory moves and define themselves. My companions pretty quickly decided they weren't interested in anything, but I found a basket of some kind of floral head band fairy crown things and decided on one for my granddaughter. At the same time my friends found a new made wooden box with some folk art Noah's Ark scene painted on it. The price was about $35 so I decided to buy it as well. Afterwards I felt like it was kind of an impulse buy, but I did my part to patronize the new business. This store needs a bit of time to get organized and figure out what will sell in Comfort. I've been antique shopping in Comfort for 35 years, and this shop can fill a void from all the shops that have closed their doors in the past decades and moved to antiques malls. But not yet.

Here's a well-kept secret: your favorite Yelper/visual artist/spiritual bon vivant (that's me in…read morecase you were wondering) fancies himself a bit of an antiquary. Many of my favorite antiques have come from this charming little place in Helotes. Whenever I stop by B Daddy's BBQ next door, I walk over to Old Town Depot Antiques to see what's new. The selection is vast and includes everything from Victorian-era posh to 1950s small-town Americana. As a spiritualist, I'm particularly drawn to the variety of crystals and tarot card decks. As a WWII enthusiast, I am impressed by the variety of American and German guns, knives, and military paraphernalia. The prices are reasonable, and I've found many bargains, including a set of antique doorstops that...well...I really shouldn't talk about here. I know that last sentence sounds mysterious (because it is), but feel free to contact me If you're curious. I assure you it's an interesting story with an accompanying video. The woman who operates the store is friendly and quick to offer suggestions. Unlike many antique store owners (those presumably mindful of potential shoplifters), she will leave you be and let you enjoy your visit. She has given me several great deals over the last few years, so don't be afraid to negotiate. The one-star reviews on this page are laughable; the staff here are very friendly and accommodating to everyone I've ever seen, irrespective of race or ethnicity. If you sensed "bad vibes," then perhaps that's a reflection on *you*, not your ethnicity. Fans of the feline variety, take note: the shop's true owner is "Rascal," a cute little fellow who, if you're charmed like me, will greet you as you enter the premises. Rascal lived up to his name on a recent visit, as he mugged for my camera (see photos) and followed me around the store to offer insight into the various trinkets behind the counter. Sadly, he is not for sale...though no cat really is for sale; cats own you, not the other way around. Definitely a five-star experience!
