Most pieces are decent wood (ash, etc) and look very attractive as they're partially refined from their pallet life to become a soft, eye-catching item with visual evidence of a harsher prior life. The owner is the furniture maker and will do commission work, bargain with you on the price, or just talk to you all day about whatever you want when you go in. He refuses to turn on the A/C because he likes the door open, welcoming in the passer-by from the street.

I felt like I hired a Dr. Jekyll and ended up with a Mr. Hyde and doubts about the work actually completed. I discovered this contractor on the Nextdoor.com site, and he sounded highly versatile, well-experienced, and incredibly warm and personable during our telephone call to discuss my project. He was available immediately, and I could not believe my good luck. I thought that our contract dates over 04/19/26 - 04/25/26 meant that he would start on 04/19/26. I emailed that I looked forward to him starting on 04/19/26. When I did not hear from between 04/17/26 - 04/20/26, I looked him up online. I found mostly negative reviews on Yelp.com and decided not to send the deposit until he confirmed that he had started the project. I then contacted him on 04/23/26 to confirm the project status. To say that this contractor turned into a Mr. Jekyll and Dr Hyde act is an understatement. If the contractor was on-site before 04/23/26, he refused to confirm it. He responded to my email on 04/23/26 only that he would be finished by the next day, or 04/24/26. If these dates are correct, then he either did not do the wood deck cleaning and sealant part of the project at all or do it correctly, as it requires 48-72 hours drying time before the sealant unless extremely dry outdoor conditions which the weather forecast did not indicate, or he did not follow standard procedure. He refused to confirm the status even when I questioned him on my Nextdoor.com post about the experience. I requested pictures of the completed work since I was not in town to see in-person. The contractor was informed before the project started that I was renting the property to tenants and would not be in town during the scheduled work. Instead, the contractor sent me pictures of the bathroom sink and toilet showing what appeared to be construction grime around the perimeters, shaming me for renting the unit in such unsanitary conditions. The unit was cleaned before a handyman worked on drywall and flooring for several weeks prior to Good Earth being scheduled. Apparently, the handyman did not fully clean-up after himself. Below are some of the comments that the contractor made on my Nextdoor.com post: "... The only job I should have done for you is to fix that loose screw in your head." "...Your scummy little apartment was filthy when you had your Tennant move in an i (sic) suggested to to muse (sic) my cleaning lady and you know it." "This was a very simple and straight forward job. Paint two doors, remove as much carpet glue on her old crappy floor and re urethane it. I urethaned my way out the door and left so the floor would be dry for her Tennant to move in the next morning which he and I arranged thru email. I felt no need to take pictures of such obvious work. I told her after her crazy emails that I wasn't stepping foot on her property ever again and her Tennant could provide her with more pics since he had already shared some with her. This is all so ridiculous." - Note: RE the Contractor's remark about taking no pictures of 'obvioius work,' the Contractor was informed pre-contract that I was renting the house to tenants and would not be in town to see the work in-progress or completed. Over my Nextdoor.com post, the contractor threatened to place a lien on my property if I did not pay the bill in full by the following Monday. Fortunately, my check showed that it cleared on that date.

This was similar to a few dressers and couches as well. They would not negotiate the listed price even after being shown the price I found. I went in this spring to get a chaise for a reading nook. Matt convinced me to get an oversized…read morechair with an ottoman instead because then I would be able to move it earlier. I agreed with him and ordered the oversized chair and ottoman. It was delivered about a month later and I received the world's smallest ottoman. Even the delivery people were confused (delivery people were great btw). I called the store and asked how I ended up with the tiny ottoman and Sam said it couldn't be returned because it was a custom order. I told him I would come in the next day because the ottoman was ridiculous. So I go in on a Sunday and talk with Sam (owner) and Dawn. I explain the issue in that the ottoman is supposed to be the width of the chair, not less than half. I said I never would have purchased it if it was going to be so tiny as it is not even remotely what I wanted (think chaise). I ask if they can order me a proper size ottoman and I'll pay the difference and Sam says no because they can't take the tiny ottoman back. I tell him he can put it up and their discount attic and he says no because it's a single. At which point I tell him I bought my leather chair as a single from the attic (was originally part of a set). He continued to be extremely rude and condescending. Dawn was the only nice person there. She eventually got Sam to agree to take the ottoman back and found me a proper size one. I've purchased many items at Hub and always recommended it but will never go there again as long as Sam is there. Now if Dawn opened a furniture store, I would go there in a heartbeat. She is understanding and also a fabulous designer. I should mention, the person I bought the original chair and ottoman from (Matt) recognized his mistake and apologized to me for selling me a tiny ottoman for the chair. So - Hub is great if you don't have issues but if you have issues you are on your own. I will avoid this store like the plague from here on out.
