It was an absolute pleasure being helped by Shoreline Cremation, during such a horribly painful and…read morestressful period! We started with a different funeral home, that was "full-service". However, my beloved family member only wanted a simple cremation and absolutely no funeral. So in general it only costs between $250.00-$500.00 for a basic cremation; however, the average cost is $2,000.00, which isn't unreasonable. Additionally, we found out that Medicaid has a death benefit of $1,800.00 towards cremation. So not only did the initial business not inform us of this, but they were not willing to bill her health insurance. They wanted to charge $7,000.00 to come out of her life insurance only for cremation, and for a brief final viewing just her children, where they offered to place her body on a stretcher with a sheet over her. I felt this would be extremely traumatic for her younger children, and the youngest child, flat out refused to say "goodbye" to her mother, if she had to see her like that. Their mother wanted as little spent on her end of life expenses as possible, so that the bulk of her life insurance would go directly towards her 4 children (1 already in college, and the other going to college next year), as well as, her 3 grandchildren. On a late Sunday evening, Joe one of the co-owners spent hours on the phone helping us navigate an area that was completely foreign and beyond confusing. Without any frustration, other than the way that my family was treated, he invested hours of time & energy, while exhibiting such compassion. He literally provided the much needed hand-holding we needed at this point; even as we were bombarded with a multitude of challenges and time constraints. He literally walked us through step by step!!!! I am forever grateful that my loved-one's body was treated with such dignity, respect, and reverence prior to being cremated; and particularly that her children were providing a brief intimate and beautiful viewing where she was able to be dressed, propped with beautiful pillows, and covered with a lovely blanket, on a lovely but covered table. This gave them a much needed private opportunity to say, "good-bye" to the most important & influential person in each of their lives, while being in a positive and completely non-traumatic setting. Her daughter actually said, "Mom looked beautiful and peaceful, just like she was sleeping". That was exactly what I hoped, for her children's last visual image of their mother; which will stick with them for the rest of their lives! His brother James, the other co-owner, worked with us as well, and he showed such patience & kindness; plus, he was so helpful with addressing the challenges associated with retrieving her body, the significant time limitations that resulted, and he still made it possible to schedule a time that same day for her kids to have a viewing! They only charged $1,800.00 for the cremation, you paid up front, they submit the billing to Medicaid, and once reimbursed, they send you a photo of the check they received and immediately send the money to you. Of course there had to be a credit card issue, as due to the large amount, a freeze was automatically placed on my card. I'm panicking trying to correct everything immediately, but my schedule was jam packed that day. He calmly told me not to even concern myself with paying the bill today; and that tomorrow morning they would run my card again, when the office opened. This immediately relieved me, so I was able to continue with the rest of my day without additional stress. The entire office staff, during every single interaction, was extremely kind, helpful, and showed exemplary professionalism. This is never an easy time, when a loved-one passes, but it is even harder when there is confusion, your needs and requests are not being met, or when experiencing feelings of being taken advantage of in any way, while you are at your most vulnerable. Shoreline Cremation incorporated a sense of morality and ethical beliefs into the manner in which they conduct business. I am so grateful!

It was the second month of the pandemic- April of 2020. I had previously made several calls to different funeral homes asking for my father to be picked up from the hospital and buried. No one was offering this service. It was all about cremation at this time, due to the pandemic. I found John Crawford who was a lifesaver during such a terrible time. He was able to bury my father who had died from covid, which was my fathers ultimate dying wish. John came through for me when no one else did, and he didn't ask me for a dime upfront. He told me not to worry about it, and he trusted me and in this day and age its so difficult for anyone to have trust. I was unable to attend the funeral, but he promised me he would say a prayer for my father and sent me pics of the casket as it was being lowered into the gravesite. I'll never forget John. God puts angels in our lives! Thanks John!!! The Rosado Family.
