Despite my parents' 69-year marriage and our clear intention for them to be laid to rest side by side, this outcome was not facilitated. The core issue is that no one on your staff raised the basic and essential question of whether my father should be placed in a location that would allow my mother to be interred next to him in the future. We had available plots that would have accommodated this, but the opportunity was missed. Presenting paperwork to a grieving family member during a wake, without guidance or explanation of long-term implications, is insufficient. While this may meet legal requirements, it falls short of the level of care and foresight that families reasonably expect during such vulnerable moments. When I brought this issue to the attention of the owner of Carmon, I was ignored.

Called the help line and the video service person said they were having technical issues so we were shut out of seeing her funeral live. Also, the feed did not allow us to remotely give a tribute to her. This funeral home needs to come into the 21st century. How many interactive services are now available (zoom, Skype, facebook messenger, etc). I hope this funeral home makes a change to an interactive service for reliability and to allow for remote tributes.

I didn't purchase a statue or marker or a headstone. We pre paid ten thousand dollars. The dinner service nearby costs were aprox $500. Not a big alcohol bill or anything that was in total for 30 guests. I got aprox $300 in flower shop plants and flowers. I asked for what I asked for, there was dealing w out of state stuff etc. ensured they could handle the arrangements required in this cost arranged of ten thousand. Two years later long after I thought it was all set I get this long drawn out call from the senior guy. Apparently the younger woman handling my mother's service left and it was all unfinished and it took them that long to realize. He said he was charging an additional thousand dollars because of out of state travel of one trip and the engraver cost more than expected yada yada. Today a relative called close to six months later to let me know the marker still isn't placed at the grave this still isn't done. Two and a half years after the fact. Please don't go here. It was a mistake. It's a sick thing to do this to grieving families. Suck it up and figure it out I don't want to pay more when these arrangements still aren't done!!!. This place has been open long enough to do better. Where is the rest of the money? Where is the metal plate? No itemized bill has been produced this whole time and the job not done. Seriously irate. Don't go here. Wish I didn't go here. There is a cement slab with holes sitting there and the metal plate isn't in it. All that was requested was different lettering on a metal plate and added engraving on the back of my father's existing head stone. No way it costs nine grand to engrave stuff, make phone calls or drive to Pennsylvania or New York etc. maybe he did a huge expense account for his whole family to stay over night or something, Jesus. Yet I'm sure they will still have customers dying to get in. Don't be one of them shop around first. I feel foolish and my mother's grave still isn't completed, not sure how to get it done and he's talking like it's gonna cost more.

Driven by this location many time was pretty surprised by the ease of getting in and getting out as the funeral was promptly after the business day concluded. There were ushers helping us park cars as it was a large gathering from in and out of state that was here to bid farewell to a friend and family. The lot was pretty tight yet served us well as I didn't have to fight for a spot and was heading inside. The staircase leading upstairs from the lot that I had parked was beautiful, though we all were dressed in black attire. Two different rooms for seating and the bigger room held the casket and visitors came to pay their respects. A decently sizes funeral home that some had to squeeze by others while there was still areas for groups to congregate. I imagine that a lot of thought and preparation was put into honoring this man and this funeral home did him justice. Cannot speak to the procession the day after to the cemetery as I couldn't attend but I imagine thar it was well organized and handle the business of the Elmwood West Hartford area.

If you take time to wander, there are hidden surprises not visible except on foot. In one section are several tall statues and crosses set in a circle but the circle is only noticeable when you're in it. It was weird, but it was a little "stonehenge-y". Probably not the best analogy for a Catholic cemetery, but with the large volume of Irish surnames here, the reference probably isn't too far off. It's really a beautiful cemetery and with an extraordinary variety of headstones: Huge, medium, small, ornate, engraved, simple and basic. In a part where it appeared as untouched ground, there are in-ground stones. It wasn't until I was walking to get a closer look at something else, I realized it. Across the grass, the tableau of the crucifixion breaks the view. It really is a fascinating cemetery likely befitting the community in which it is located.

They were more concerned about making sure that my aunt was laid to rest the way she wanted and also made sure to keep me in the loop about the whole process, step-by-step. Honestly, the price may have been a little more than I expected but given the service, the quality of humans working at the funeral, worth every penny. I have been to funeral homes that dont even give condolences and the first words out of their mouth is " did your relative have insurance?". Tierney Funeral Home is NOT this type of business. They really care about those that have lost loved ones and go the extra mile to make sure everything is taken care of. The money part, is secondary to the loss. THANK GOODNESS for them! My mind couldn't even process the death much less the payment for closing out a life I didn't expect to lose for many many years to come. Thank you Heather! Thank you Zach! You both made this horrible event a little brighter because of your compassion, understanding, thoughtfulness, and kindness. Putting my pain first before anything else really made me feel better in the moment. I appreciate you all at Tierney and will always recommend your funeral home to those I love and trust.
