Normally however, they bring out exactly what I asked for. This may just be luck but it works for me all the same. The shop is small and rather old fashioned selling a range of paper, stationary, paint, canvas' and art supplies. The same man has been working here for all the time that I have been going to the shop and is very well informed and helpful. Expect to pay slightly more than you would in larger art and stationary shops, but for the ease and practicality of shopping here, it is well worth the extra pound or two.

Unik Arts & Crafts puts an end to that problem as it is one of South London's best local art supply specialists. You can find brushes, paint, yarn, glitter, presentation boards, markers, pencils, basically anything you need to make your next masterpiece for decent prices. They don't have an incredible amount of stock, but they'll cover the basics. If you're not too picky about the brands of the supplies you get and you just need to replace some item quickly then stop by this place, I'm sure they'll have what you need.

Since then, and since attending Dr Sketchy's wonderful life drawing classes at the RVT, I have been back a few times to browse and a few times to buy art supplies. This is not a bad thing, but knowing it's so close really tempts me to keep going back and spending far too much money on lovely paints and pens and brushes and stuff, even though I can't draw to save my life. There always seems to be a few good deals available on certain items, though not to the extent of the sales Cass Art runs all the time, and some of the staff are really helpful. There was one grumpy man there once who referred me to his colleague rather than answer my question himself, then glowered at me as he scanned everything in at the till, but everyone else I've spoken to have been pretty nice and didn't make me feel stupid when I asked basic questions about materials.

Half an hour later I had whittled my selection down to an arm full of jerseys several wools and a few tartans. They have a pretty big selection bearing in mind the size of the shop and the price is amazingly reasonable. Now I have no reason to buy fabric anywhere else. I picked up one customs an was told 'no no no don't try this Queen of Heart's costume this one is the best and so much more you..' I tried it on and was perfect, they ensure that had everything I need to look the best, a crown, makeup, playing card stockings, heart stickers the works. The costumes are very well price the shop is small and crowded stuff everywhere but the guys and girls that work there are amazing they know where everything is and the have so much passion for making you feel and look the part you want to play at your party.. If only it wasn't so far away they could dress me for all fancy dress parties..

They do sell some nice things, but I feel that the vast quantity of shops they are opening, down grades them slightly. That may just be me being picky, but part of their initial charm was that it felt special and unique, now I cannot help but feel it is just over produced. Saying that, I still wander in on occasions but rarely am I moved to make a purchase.
