Ok where to start? This place is SO cute! A+ for design and for having such a great attention to detail--I mean, the little mascot named Wess? Adorable. The story about how Post Boy got its name? No notes. The service was amazing--they did get busy but good for them! Our server Alex was still attentive and so so kind!! We ordered the Biang Biang shrimp which is like bang bang shrimp mixed with walnut shrimp (delish), the meatballs with udon noodles, and the bbq tandoori chicken thighs. We didn't love the meatballs (the texture was a little too soft and the sauce on top detracted from the yummy egg yolk caramel dipping sauce) but the udon noodles were solid (a cold, creamy pasta salad type side dish with the perfect amount of chili crisp). The chicken thighs though? Absolutely delicious! Tender, sweet, smoky... I give major kudos to Post Boy for taking risks with the menu. You might not love everything on the menu, but you're going to get a great assortment of things, find some fun surprises, and definitely leave wanting to try more. Just my kind of place. read more

We enjoyed our evening dinner at Post Boy! With such an interesting menu we were a little nervous but loved it all. We sat on the patio and brought our pup (so happy they allow dogs on their patio). The ambiance outside is amazing, relaxing, and has a modern resort like flair. Our fries were so good! Crispy and flavorful! The chicken sando we shared and it was delicious, juicy chicken and crisp exterior. The key lime pie was unlike any other I've tried. It has a salted whip on top with a charcoal crust, all separated the flavor isn't too great but when you get in a bite of each it's amazing, truly a culinary burst of flavors! Postboy is a great addition to New Buffalo. It is a modern, more upscale restaurant than what the town is used to. It is smaller inside, but it looks like the patio will be great in the summertime. My boyfriend and I ordered the baked potato gnocchi, the garganelli, and the Kennebec fries. The gnocchi was very good- it reminded us of a baked potato soup. It was on the smaller side. The Garganelli was good as well. The fries were typical fries. We will be returning! read more

This was just not it for us- I know everyone is calling it cute, but it's just kind of crazy and not really the backdrop I want for a meal. Even the penny tile in white grout table seemed a wild choice for a table top. The staff is friendly, but in a they talk too much way - I know that seems rude to say - but if you've experienced that you know what I mean. The music, oh my goodness I don't even know what to say here - pretty sure there was a song that was simply a solo recorder. The coffee is being poured from these huge white carafes that the staff cannot seem to manage and doesn't keep the coffee hot. At one point we all just had a laugh over these things. The food was fine, but fine isn't really enough to overcome these other points. read more

This place is the epitome of everything currently wrong with the city of New Buffalo. I have never docked any establishment a single star, just based on pricing, meanwhile here I find myself taking off 2 stars just for PostBoy thinking they are in New York when in reality they are in New Buffalo. As always I'll be fair, and start with the good. The food, is actually really good. I have no doubt the ingredients are fresh, quality, and the menu is curated to give a unique culinary experience. My wife had the chicken sandwich and I had the trout tostada. The chicken sandwich was on a bun covered in sesame seeds, with a light sauce, some type of lettuce or greens, and the chicken itself was battered in a lightly sweet sauce. It was on the smaller side. My tostada was also delicious and a unique take on Mexican cuisine, however it also was on the smaller side and the dish was just the 1 tostada with nothing else. The ambience is amazing as well. Closer to Miami art deco than anything reminiscent of New Buffalo. Very light pastel colors with some contrasting green accents throughout the interior, while the outside sitting area was designed to resemble a beach with umbrellas and stones for the flooring to resemble sand. The service was also fine. Nothing special to mention, but also no complaints. Quick, courteous, attentive, not overbearing at all. That's about where the good ends. The pricing is absolutely atrocious and borderline insulting for a multitude of reasons. The portions are way too small to justify the price. A skewer with 2 scallops costs $24. I haven't paid $24 for 2 scallops even in Michelin star restaurants, let alone Michigan Star restaurants. My 1 tostada with no sides, nothing else, cost $17. The small chicken sandwich was $19 and even that was overpriced for what it was. If they want to upcharge for service, they also have nothing to stand on. While I can't stress enough that I don't blame the staff for any of this, the fact of the matter is that these aren't professional waitstaff that make a career out of serving guests in a fine dining establishment, they are teenage busboys and early 20s students home for the summer. Which further makes it appalling that the lowest automatically selectable tip rate is 20%! The sheer audacity, and then the added audacity to be a cashless establishment. Again, this restaurant does not have any Michelin stars, professional waitstaff, a world class chef, or frankly anything to justify anything close to the pricing and the ridiculous portion sizes and lack of anything substantial on the menu. Absolutely disgraceful to think you can get away with this simply because wealthy tourists will flock from Chicago and spend money on a restaurant they wouldn't even consider going to were it an hour away in downtown Chicago. Ridiculously overpriced and should be ashamed to exist in New Buffalo only to cater to people who do not live there. read more

Let's start with the vibes because this one of most well-executed interior and exterior design of a restaurant that I have ever seen. The space is big and open, very inviting and happening. The food was great too starting with the French Onion Dip. The prawn tiradito was also immersed in a delicious mixture of lardo, black garlic macha, and masa miso. We loved the sesame wings, decently large and a little sweet from the garlic honey. their caesar salad was different, well rounded with asian infleunce from the furikake and red miso. The mains were all hitters. First off, my favorite dish was the loaded potato gnocchi. true definition of loaded with the smoked bacon, citrus cream, and cheddar mornay, but what a genius idea to make these ingredients work with the gnocchi where the gnocchi literally soaked the cheddar mornay. their chicken sandwich good, but I like chicken sandwiches with less leafyness, and interestingly enough the texture was reminsicent of katsu. I really enjoyed the burger, the boom sauce added some sweetness to the burger, and the shredded lettuce threw in some texture. The bun at the bottom got too many juices on it, so I do recommend using a nice for the burger. Their dessert was very fun with tons of crunch and fluffy marshmallows to create a campire ready smores tres leches. Great addition overall to the New Buffalo dining scene. read more

TLDR: overpriced but has potential. This place was okay. I appreciate what they were trying to do with the food and concept; however, the restaurant has so much seating indoor and outdoor but they were making people wait for seats to give the kitchen a break? To avoid waiting for a table, we sat at the bar and our food came out right away so the whole seating thing didn't make sense to us. Then, our order got a little messed up (fries came out that we didn't order and corn dog that we did order was not sent through and we had to ask for it later). The fries were pretty unavoidable once they came out because they looked so good so we ended up eating them and paying for them which was okay. Our main issue with the restaurant was the price of the menu compared to how it was being operated. However, I think these growing pains can get worked out and improve over time and it's worth it to give this place a try especially for groups as the front patio is very spacious and accommodating. read more

Dear Post Boy, What has happened? Winter into spring last year you were phenomenal and the menu was great and every dish was phenomenal. Tried the menu last season a few times and it just wasn't for me. Now that the menu has changed again for the fall I was excited to try it out. Hearing your parents are divorcing would have been better news than what this menu is. The once legendary fries are over seasoned and over priced fries from rally's with a what appears to be leftover Dean's dip. 17 dollar shrimp that is just underwhelming overall, no brightness or citrus to make it a worthwhile dish. Now on to the main catastrophes. The bucatini and the beef cheek pie. If multiple members of your staff give warning about these dishes and even recommend not ordering one and it's been this way for weeks, there's a problem. The bucatini was so overcooked it tastes like paper pulp. Zero flavor in it and disastrous texture. The pie, dear lord a deer wouldn't eat it as a salt lick given how salty it was. No richness to it or savory aspect to save it, every bite was chunk of salt no matter what. I also don't understand how having four different members at your bar where we had been seated on a more casual night took over 10 minutes for them to interact with us and another 15 to take our orders. I don't know if it's a gen z/gen alpha thing but staring at us rather than initiating the conversation and giving us a rundown on the menu or the specials or telling us what wine you have is pretty damn standard in more upscale venture. Post boy can only be saved by some of their more experienced servers and their incredible bar manager for so long. If they don't get it turned around it will become the Stray Dog 2.0 t shirt shop and all but for Illinois suburban tourists that watched the bear. read more
