One of two Post Office's in Sheffield city centre (S1 region), this branch is a Post Office which is also part of small newsagents on Norfolk Street.
It has many of the regular functions you'd expect to find from a Post Office, but in terms of how it goes about offering them, this truly is abysmal and does not follow regular stands I have experienced in other Post Office locations throughout England and Wales.
I came in, hoping to post one box which was partially pre-paid with stamps, I went the first counter I saw which was part of the newsagents as it had a sign saying you could post items from that counter, after approaching the sign, reading it and unpacking my bag and waiting for the guy at the counter (He seemed to be reading or doing a crossword of some sorts), he told me he could not help me. Why? I understand they have specific areas of the store but to be redirected somewhere else when he allowed me to wait, get my parcel out of my bag, read the sign which said you can post items from that counter, it was pretty abysmal.
I then had to queue up (it took longer because the queue extended while I was waiting to be served at what I thought was the right counter), the guy working seemed really unfriendly and didn't even speak to me, I had no idea what he was doing, the counters were also pretty awkward and narrow meaning it would be easy to drop a parcel because of the gap, and one of the counters was in some sort of awful, claustrophobic booth which got in the way.
I had to ask for a proof of postage, and how he was sending the item, he didn't even give me the option he just said "I've done it the second class", luckily I didn't mind but I mentioned I'd have to pay postage and he just processed everything without telling me.
The small selection of beverages and envelopes were over-priced.
You wouldn't even expect a Post Office in a small town which is barely used to function this poorly, let alone one of the two locations in the big South Yorkshire city of Sheffield, from a confusing layout to dreadful service, I won't be using this Post Office branch again and it surely deserves a single one-star rating. read more
