i found this place midway between shoots today. Trotting around Malvern streets looking for a place…read moreto take my break when i spotted the sign for Carnival Records. My self and my partner walked down with beady eyes wondering what it could be when we found our selves in a little courtyard surrounded by 3 shop fronts. The first shop right in front of us was the main area selling an insane selection of disk based music and the counter where we met the owner so instantly greeted us and asked what our tastes in music was. While Andy and the shop owner chatted about 70s punk bands i looked around the vinyl section, both new and old and Ive never seen such a well kept, well moderated selection of anything, not just music. The staff are passionate and the section and prices are incredible, they are still expanding to a downstairs area to hold even more vinyls and rarer collections. Well worth a visit even if just to chat to the staff.

I visited this shop on 19th April 2018. I was there with my wife…read more We were both browsing through the latest arrivals section when my wife happened across a double lp by the eagles called live in Houston 1976. Now I happen to be a authority on the eagles, and I knew this was an unofficial release. It's a bootleg for want of a better word. It's never been officially released by the artists and neither is it sanctioned by them. I'll add that I have nothing against bootlegs. Being a hard core fan of a number of artists I collect bootlegs. As do many hard core fans whom already own all the official product. I simply asked the guy how these bootlegs are getting through the system now ( I knew the answer , the BPI are no longer that interested in bootlegs as they are more focused in removing illegal downloads of official product from the internet, and don't have the resources or inclination to chase after a few bootlegs that offer no financial benefit to them or the artists they represent ). What happened next was the thing that irritated me. Remember, I'm just trying to make small talk with the owner of this shop. I'm a customer and was there to spend money. The owner jumped right down my throat telling me it wasn't a bootleg, and he doesn't sell bootlegs. He was rude beyond belief. Very confrontational He tried to make me look. Stupid in front of my wife so much so that she walked out of the shop. He carried on insisting the lp wasn't a bootleg and it was a radio show, and someone within the eagles organisation had "given the nod" to this concert being released. Well here are the facts mr carnival records. And despite your claim to have been in the business 30years , you still have either a lot to learn....or you are simply a liar. You stated the lp was a radio show The eagles live in Houston 1976 was NEVER a radio show. It was a concert film made by the eagles but it was determined to be so poor both visually and sonically that they have never and will never release it officially. It surfaced as a bootleg vhs tape and then bootleg dvd. The dvd being a transfer of the vhs tape. It sounds dreadful. Read the amazon and discogs reviews of this lp if you're not willing to take the word of someone who knows what they are talking about ! This vinyl lp, 180 Gram no less, is a straight transfer of audio on the vhs tape. It has terrible sound. It sounds wobbly, and tracks are cut and edited. Now does this sound like something the eagles would sanction ? Come on ! They are known perfectionists. The record label responsible for this atrocity (DOL) are a Grey market label, based in Russia , where they manufacture pirate copies of official product and bootleg releases. That's a fact carnival records. So you are selling bootlegs. Like I said though. I don't have a problem with bootlegs. I do have a problem with confrontational arrogant know it alls that know diddly squat and then try and BS me when I'm trying to strike up a friendly conversation.
