We had J&L Flooring handle several projects in our home over the years, including flooring for our…read moreliving room, hallway, upstairs bathroom, and downstairs bathroom. They also supplied the subway tile for both bathrooms. The service was fantastic from start to finish. There was one small issue where some mortar from the tile work had been left in the backyard, and when I mentioned it to Jack, he had someone over right away to take care of it. It was cleaned up quickly with no hassle, which I really appreciated. It has now been about 6 or 7 years, and everything still looks great. The vinyl wood-look flooring upstairs has held up beautifully, even with pets running around and their scratchy little claws, and the tile still looks fantastic as well. I'm really happy with both the quality of the products and the level of service we received. I would absolutely recommend J&L Flooring to anyone looking for reliable work and flooring that lasts.

J &L Flooring was Impossible to deal with, very poor customer service. Jody , the sales rep ,…read morewas interested in only giving me her suggestions without respect for hearing mine. it was clear that she was unwilling to listen . I would not recommend them . In my opinion it is the worse customer service that I have ever encountered.. Here is a chronology of events. A little long but necessary to explain the chain of events. Several wks ago I requested J&L to provide an estimate for installation of hardwood floor to my bedroom and stairs. Jack came out . At that juncture, I requested two separate estimates as I was not certain that I could do both projects immediately. The total cost for both was approximately $11,500. I got a second estimate for the bedroom that came in $515 less than their estimate. So, i requested ,and Jody agreed , to reduce their estimate by $600 with the understanding that both projects would be completed together. I was concerned and needed assurance that the installer would install the floor in alignment to my existing floor. Jody informed me that she could not guarantee that as the hardwood distributor was now using laser and the plank could be off by 1/8 of an inch. I suggested that she call the distributor and ask them to send a sample to see what the width would be. She informed that I would have to order a box. That made no sense and I told her so. Then I inquired whether the installer could come by and offer his opinion as to whether he could do the alignment. Jody's response was that I would need to sign the contract and they would order the material before the installer could come out. That made absolutely no sense. She then stated that she would talk to the installer and get back to me. Shortly thereafter she emailed me and requested some photos to show the installer and she promised to get back to me. Four days later I had not heard from her so I emailed her. She then informed that she believed the installer could do the floor in alignment but no assurance that the alignment would be perfect. However, for $150 the installer could come out to my house and render his opinion.. I then suggested what I believed was. ' a perfect solution'. Do the stairs first. In that way, we would have a sample of the hardwood and the installer would give his opinion re.the other floor then. She immediately became defensive stating that the amount we agreed on was conditional upon both projects to be completed simultaneously and that she would have to talk to Jack. I was prepared to pay the original estimated amount for the stairs as there was only a $100 deduction offered .Later that day I received an e mail informing me that they no longer wished to proceed with the project. Ostensibly, their perception and interpretation of my questions was that I was a difficult client. Not so. I merely asked questions that any customer would ask prior to committing to a project that cost $11,500. Their attitude throughout was ' we are the experts and the customer's opinion is irrelevant ".

We decided, after many trips to the business, many questions asked and answered patiently by the employees at the front desk and Tom who came to the house to measure, to go with A1. Chris and Matt were our installers. They were awesome from the moment they came into our house. Chris's first statement was.. thankyou for inviting us into your home and that he intended to treat our home as he would treat his own. They were very pleasant and professional and the attention to detail was amazing. Our floors are beautiful and we are very happy with them. Thankyou Chris and Matt for a job well done!!

I did my whole main floor with A1 in June 2023, a 17k+ project. Here are the positives and the…read morenegatives from my experience: Positives: -Everyone is polite and kind from the in store team to the installers -Buying process is simple and easy -Big store with lots of options for flooring -Commercial team do an in home visit for measuring and hearing your goals with the project -No surprising add ons to the original costs -The installers are proactive and committed. As an example they noticed there was more material than needed and a discount was applied to our final price -installers have ownership and creativity to address unexpected issues, as an example the piece made for the stairs didn't work and they came in a Saturday to explore solutions to not delay the project -installers are respectful and do their best to keep the areas clean and safe (specially for us with dogs in the house) -after putting a request, commercial representative came to the house for an inspection on the deficiencies and to hear our concerns after the pause in the project (due to defected tiles) -once defected tiles were noticed, A1 took care of the process to return and order additional box without additional costs to us Negatives: -neither a commercial team or project manager comes on the first day with installers to explain the project, introduce the crew and align needs -a project manager never comes to supervise the project or continue to align needs with the customer -you need to be proactive and constant follow up to understand the steps of the project -if the commercial person who is handling your project goes on vacation during your project, the others in the store ask you to wait and hold whatever you need until the person returns -you need to constantly supervise the project. A whole box of tiles came defected and couple tiles were installed before my husband interfered. 3 defected tiles are now part of my house flooring -even after the issue with the stairs or the defected tiles was reported by the installer to the store, neither the project manager or commercial team contacted us proactively, it was always me reaching out and asking for support. -with the need to order a new box of tiles, the finalization of the project was delayed but I only knew that from the installers -after 3 weeks on hold the installers came to finalize the project (landing and spare bedroom) but they were not informed on what exactly they had to do which ended up on them having to return on a Sunday (good point that they returned, bad point on lack of alignment between the A1 team) -the project has deficiencies: defected tiles, stain of caulking on tiles and baseboards with uneven corners. -my husband ended up assessing deficiencies in the baseboards to expedite completion of the project Overall: My expectations were not fully met. We were aware we were paying higher prices with the promise of peace of mind to have a team fully caring for our project and superior quality overall. I am thankful for the kindness, ownership and honesty of everyone from the company. I am somewhat happy with the final result but disappointed with the effort I needed to put in supervision and follow up which made the project draining, stressful and took away the joy of improving my home.
