I also love the community aspect, everyone who works there and attends classes is so nice and welcoming, and that all starts with the owner Kristen. The place is so clean and inviting, and the boutique is top notch. I even find shirts there that are suitable for work events! Last but definitely not least, there's Bear, the cutest and sweetest head of PR / mascot / occasional guest in Kristen's barre class wind down that you will ever meet. I raised this to the morning manager and she said, essentially, yeah that's been broken for awhile. That's it. The showers that work don't have door handles! She knows this too. Around 20 of the lockers are zip-tied shut, presumably because they're damaged. The first time I was there, 6 months ago, I stated that the water fountain wasn't working. Answer: yes it is. The kid height one is fine. Actually, it's not because the whole thing should work and the pressure is insufficient to get a sanitary flow. Almost impossible to fill a water bottle. Second to last time I was there the soap dispenser didn't even work, which is a code violation for a public restroom. All of this has been pointed out, nicely, and for doing so they stated they were not reviewing my membership because I complained. Next, I'll talk about the Sunday afternoon when I accidentally showered a few minutes past closing, the attendant cake in and knew I was there, then he shut the lights off in a windowless room and I had to feel my way to the door to get the lights on so I could leave: his remark, "I don't get paid to stay late." Not about the hazard or inconvenience or plain rudeness. This place is run with no accountability and apparently they don't care

While on an extended stay in Bristol, I had the pleasure of attending Pilates classes at this…read morestudio. The owner and sole instructor, Erin, is the heart and soul of the practice! Erin is fantastic and "spot-on" about helping you modify your poses in order to attain proper form in both mat and reformer classes. She is also motivating, inspiring and extremely accomplished in Pilates. If a pose is particularly difficult, Erin takes a moment to demonstrate the correct form. The classes are challenging and dialogue during class kept at the bare minimum (sometimes I can barely breathe, let alone talk, because of the intensity of the work)! I am sore (in a good way) later in the day and into the next day after a class. I clearly see a more defined muscle tone after attending two classes a week for a month and it just got better after several months. Erin is a professional and takes her work seriously (without being overly serious herself) and wants every attendee to get the most out of the time spent in her studio. The studio is clean (even by my germophobic standard) and neat. The original tin cut-out ceiling (which, of course, we look at the most) adds a nice touch to the physical surroundings. Sign-up and attendance items are efficiently handled and do not detract from class time. As a nice bonus, Erin will introduce attendees to each other; which can simply generate good will during the class or can result in friendships (depending on your own inclination). Everyone in the classes I attend is friendly and the intensity of the classes does not really give room for others to be checking you out and judging. I'm addicted and will return to Aligenmentz any chance I get. It is Erin's voice I hear in my head now that I have returned to Pilates in California.
