I signed up in September 2015, for a weight loss plan. I had about 60lbs to lose to get back to my ideal healthy weight. All I can say is, it's working! Slow, steady weight loss of 1/2-3 lbs per week. So far, have lost 30 pounds and 17 inches, I am also down two sizes. I liked the thorough questionnaire that the sales counselor put me through in the beginning. Others may have seen it as high pressure, but I felt it was very much a "weeding out" process. The woman who was my sales counselor was very explicit in her explanation of the sales contract and how it works...( you do have to decide very quickly based on only one appointment if you will stick with it or not). I had already experienced some hypnosis in the past, so I was comfortable making the commitment quickly.
This program is definitely NOT for everyone; because hypnosis therapy for weight loss is EXTREMELY INTENSE. At least, I find it to be this way. I think most folks who struggle with their weight for years have built up a lot of emotions around weight-food-eating-thinking, etc. Right? Otherwise, if it was so easy to eat and live through our culture, there would not be so many eating disorders and body-image problems.I myself had really thought that I did not have too many emotional eating or stress-eating issues...um, I really did have these habits, and was just quite oblivious! Hypnosis and the neuro-linguistic processes that are used in their system really force your brain to go deep, and release old bad emotional and thinking habits. With this program, you go once a week and get classes on nutrition, positive self-talk, new coping skills, and private coaching sessions. This alone is about a 2 hour appointment all at once, each week. The time commitment and self-discipline required on your own is about 20 -30 minutes in the morning, same thing in the evening. They tell you that to be truly successful, you should listen to your CDs at home THREE times per day. I don't have the time,self-discipline or desire to do that, I have found that I like to listen to the CDs in the morning and in the evening. They are really relaxing right before bedtime. I am sleeping better, and more deeply, as a side benefit. The morning CD processes really help me get "armored up" in a positive mindset, as I start my day.
In your personal coaching sessions, the counselors go through what you might be struggling with, ( you meet with them every other week, roughly, at least twice per month.) Then, they design your own personalized hypnosis CD to listen to on your own. For this program to work, you need to be very comfortable with disclosing your own personal struggles, week to week. I can not emphasize this enough. If you don't want to dig deep and be honest about your struggles and failures, then you're not ready. I have found that every counselor is quite sensitive, kind and helpful. I have met nearly every staff member, and each of them has been through their own struggles. They have each been quick to point out my successes, and encouraged me with examples of what many others have struggled with & how they handled it. It has really made me feel better; many times I have approached my personal sessions grumpy and irritated with the process and myself...feeling "roadblocked" and every single time, the counselor has given me new hope and helpful ideas. I always leave feeling positive, happy and encouraged! That's a blessing in my life; everyone I know has remarked on how happy, optimistic and energized I am lately. Truly, it's because of this program. It's literally made "positive changes" in my world. The weight loss is almost seeming like a natural side-effect of my changing mind. Never thought I would feel this way! I have gained and lost the same 30lbs countless times in my life, this time, it's for good.
The bottom line is this: your counselor can not design a program to address your issues if you don't tell them what is really hard for you, what you are really struggling with, etc. If you are not ready to be completely honest with your self and why you are overweight, then you are not really ready to deal with the intense self-scrutiny and honesty this program requires to be successful. I had tried hypnosis in my twenties and the emotions that it brought up were WAY too intense and uncomfortable for me to deal with. I am now 51, and I knew I was strong enough to face the emotional issues that were attached to my weight gain over the years. I was ready, psychologically, in other words, to finally go back to my healthy thin natural weight I just needed some help and guidance along the way. I can not emphasize enough how you yourself have to be ready to SELF-DISCLOSE about your own struggles. That alone is enough to really scare a lot of people away. This is a serious commitment to your own health, the process really works, but you have to trust the process and actually do it on a regular, committed basis, for success.
