I think the idea of kennels is fine for dogs, but cats are more lone wolf than the actual ancestor of the wolf... so this was the perfect solution. The first time we booked with them Louise the founder came round to meet us and the cats, answer any questions we had, and allay any fears. You then choose the number of visits and what sort of time (morning/evening) you have your pet 'sat', or dog walked, fed etc. They spend a good amount of time with your pet, playing with it, feeding it, making sure there are no problems. They even water your plants and leave a little diary so you know how your cat/dog/a.n.other has been while you've been away. We even came home to a pint of milk. I honestly can't praise this company enough, I really can't. Absolutely trustworthy and worth every single penny!!!

How impressed we were upon our return. Far from being upset and hiding in the house, Lucy wasn't even home! It was 1am but we had to wait over an hour before she came trotting home from her jaunts! She was overjoyed to see us but she was as plump as ever (unlike her return from the cattery) and showed no signs of stress. The notes left by the visitors were detailed and reassuring and showed the level of care that we had hoped for. It also showed the security measures that had been taken on the house. Bozie is quite shy…read morebut he clearly took to Louise becsuse she made a real effort with him, even buying him an adorable flat fish toy. She sent us photos and videos as requested and we were totally reassured that he was being beautifully cared for, which of course enabled us to enjoy our holiday. Louise was completely practical dealing with some unexpected mice visitors and left the house immaculate. I was rather moved that she had washed the bedding and put it out on the line to dry. So not only did we have a lovely time knowing Bozie was happy but our return home was really nice too.

She was wonderful ..... we met her a couple of months before our trip .... then once more to hand over keys etc. just a day before our holiday. She sent us photos, updates and texts while we were away. In short we were on holiday knowing our two cats were taken care of VERY well and we didn't have to worry about ANYTHING ...... not just the cats .... the house too. Before I discovered this pet supplies store, I was buying from Amazon, which was often sold out of the only type of litter I liked. When I found this store, I saw they had a huge selection of everything, from dry and wet cat food, to raw treats to litter, toys...you name it. Prices are really competitive - beats or matches what I have found on Amazon but without having to wait for shipping. Their membership card is free and a portion of the store's proceeds go to charity of your choice. You can also find small pets here: small birds and parrots, gerbils, rabbits and chinchillas. They also have dog grooming. Those who say you can get a better deal at Tesco obviously aren't picky about the quality of products they are getting for their pets. I don't buy my cat any processed junky crap you find at Tesco and Sainsburys - I once had a cat develop IBS as a result of that sh*tty food. I only buy grain free organic now with as few ingredients as possible. I want my cat to live a long healthy life and stores like this make it possible. On moving to the area and checking out the various veterinary options we concluded that this one…read morelooked clean and professional and had the best facilities when compared with the competition. It has since recently expanded further to add surgical capability. Our two cats were duly taken along for their first check-up, which kicked off with a talk on responsible pet ownership. It transpired that, having been taken in by the advertising and ready availability at the local supermarket, what we were feeding them was wholly unsuitable and basically junk food (eek, how shameful!). In addition we were giving them too much of it - cats should be treated like "bonsai panthers" and kept lean and keen. It was suggested we could try giving them a raw chicken wing as a treat on occasion (cooked bones were bad for them). Duly admonished we stocked up on the more wholesome and natural Lily's Kitchen and Meowing Heads cat food sold by the adjoining pet shop, and, to the cats' disgust, reduced their portion sizes. When presented with a raw chicken wing (an outdoors only treat!), clearly having become accustomed to the cat equivalent of burgers and chips, and being the least convincing bonsai panthers ever likely to be seen, the cats quickly abandoned it in favour of a snooze on the sofa whilst they waited for something more palatable to turn up in their bowls. On their second annual check-up we arrived slightly apprehensive that we had failed to instill in them any appetite for the lifestyle of a bonsai panther, but all was fine (well, they're still on the larger side but it's not that they're fat, they're just big boned. Honestly, it's the nature of the breed!) I feel confident that this Practice knows what it's doing and, should my cats require anything more than a check-up and booster vaccinations, would be very capable of delivering a high standard of treatment and care. The reception staff always seem cheerful and friendly and are happy to help if you're looking for something in particular in the pet shop side of things, which stocks a good selection of food and other pet paraphernalia. I can never resist picking up some kind of treat when doing the food shop, and have returned home with everything from scratching mats, feather toys, and even a cat sensory centre (don't ask)!

I can't recommend them enough if you are looking for a reasonably priced practice which provides superior healthcare for your furry friend! Highbury village vet has always provided exceptional care for our little dog. This practice, as well as the 24-hour village vet hospital, have helped us so many times. They not only excel at routine care (such as dental cleaning which my dog has had at this location), they also have given me assistance and support when my pet had emergency health issues. Just last week, they fit us in at the last minute on a Friday evening when I came home and discovered that my pet had seriously injured himself. The initial care which he obtained at Village Vet was invaluable in giving him the best chance at recovery and allowing me to safely transport him. I don't know what I would have done without the assistance of everyone at the Highbury location. They were kind enough to help us when we had nowhere else to turn; reinforcing yet again, how much they care about me and my pet.
