So it was that a bouquet of fresh cut flowers were required to honor my wife's birthday in the middle of a quarantine stay at home order. Roses didn't feel spontaneous enough, nor as crazy ebullient as the moment needed. No, the creative hand of a true florist and flora lover was the way to go. I used the third party online vendor I had worked with before, but to my good fortune they subbed out to Penny's in Glenside for execution. They were on time and on my wavelength. We left the package on the porch for a day out of an abundance of caution to allow any Covid cooties to be rendered inert. When we brought it inside to the kitchen, and unbound its wrapping, we beheld a riot of daisies, sunflowers, zinnias, red carnations, a few gorgeous coral roses and dried sinuatum. They were soft to touch and scented like the dawn of Spring. Most importantly, they generated the emotional response I was hoping for from the object of my affections.
