Central location. I was less than a fifteen minute walk from all the attractions that I wanted to see. Cons: Building is a bit old and the layout can be confusing. Level 0 is the receptionist office. Level 1 and 3 have bedrooms and one bathroom each. Level 2 has additional bathrooms and showers. Level 4 is the kitchen and dining area. Noises in the middle of the night. I couldn't identify what it was, but every five minutes there would be a "click" in my bedroom. Also, even from where I was sleeping on level 3, I was able to clearly hear all the street noise. However, I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised given the hostel's central location and the tendency of Spaniards to stay awake late into the night.

Came to Cordoba with a traveling friend and stayed here one night to see this fabulous historic…read morecity and the Cordoba Mezquita (only about 10mins walking distance). Small potted-flower patios of all sizes everywhere within the hotel/hostel building to please the eye plus providing a cool place to sit in the hot Cordoba summers when the temps get quite extreme. The receptionists speak english and there is an underground pay garage though yellow-marked gratis street spots are provided where you can park too (if you parked in the yellow-marked street spots be sure to advise the receptionist). GPS-navigated to the hotel w/o problem coming from the southern coast BUT the tiny cobblestoned-street the hotel-hostel is located on is not one-way BUT also very narrow; be prepared to drive on the sidewalk to get by the cars if you have a wide vehicle. Breakfast if you have a room and paid for the morning-meal is outside and down the street 42 meters in the hostel with same name, starting at 8am. Walk into the hostel and at the end of the patio, go to the far left to the then go UP the stairs to the spanish first floor (USA second-floor) where the dining rooms are. There is one main room next to kitchen where everything is laid out: hot and cold meats, milk and orange juice, a toaster and many types of bread, jams and butter, cereals, rolls and palmeras (which I love and buy always): you get the idea. Coffee and milk in heated containers on the right wall as you walk in. This must be the best breakfast I have ever been provided and I have been to a LOT of hotels and hostels in the world! There are also two other dining areas and the great homey feeling one gets seeing all the paintings etc, but also of the owner's family. Everyone very friendly and outgoing during our stay. Ample lobby area with lots of newspapers including an old upright piano with candle-holders mounted on its front. wow. Two entrances to the hotel from busy c/San Francisco and the other from its actual street address. Many numerous restaurants and bars within the area but probably because it's dead of winter and low season, a lot of these were closed early by 6pm. The TV looks to be a monitor but worked like a charm and later that night watched my regular spanish shows and news, and I did notice 2 channels in english. The shower had excellent water pressure and drained easily, and LOVED the very long white hotel shower towels, seemed to be about 6ft!! Cordoba is beautiful by day and a dream by night - I hope you've booked enough nights!! Extra blankets inside the closet if needed (not) and till I went into my friend's room just doors down the hall, didn't even see the installed central heat (he had it turned on full-blast!). In my room a small desk was provided but in this modern age, found only 2 electrical outlets (bathroom wall next to mirror and behind the desk) so you might want to bright a spanish two-prong power outlet if you have more than a laptop (free fast wifi) and a cell to charge. My friend and I were located on the 1st floor about 54 meters from the front desk and the reception was very good and had no problems though you need to ask for the secure wifi password! Looking at their website I see they also rent apartments that include a kitchen so if you're a big family this might be for you! I found the prices to be very reasonable and when I return I will be coming here! If you are a photographer, you'll love this location because there are so many things to see, and you'll find walking through the narrow streets your head will be spinning endlessly! Within the hostel/hotel there are two big plazas which are very photogenic!!

Maestre is in the old town, which has terribly narrow streets. Also Siri's GPS did not get us into…read morethe old town so we were circling and finally one of us hopped out of the car and walked into old town and found Maestre and texted me and I picked her up and with her map we drove and found the circuitous way in. This is to be expected for a place centrally located in the oldest part. Maybe u can get Maestre to text u the map they have and save time. Parking in the NARROW garage required skill but I have driven in Japan so I rose to the occasion. The staff were friendly. No time to try the breakfast for 5 E unfortunately. Our room was okayish. We were paying for low end so we were in a funky walk down suite which turned out to be noisy in the morning. The worst thing was the shower. Even though the bathroom was spacious, the shower had nothing but a narrow narrow curtain to keep water away from the sink or toilet area. No tub, glass, tile or barrier of any kind. I have seen this in Europe before. But the drain is near the toilet so no where for water to go but to get the whole bathroom wet and slippery. It is a hazard. Oh, and the fixture to hold the shower hose and nozzle was broken so one hand had to always hold the nozzle and shampoo with just the one free hand. A little better design would fix all that.
