My family and I decided to take a family picture and had a good deal with a package of 32 photos for 19.99. The associate taking the photo was polite and friendly. The main reason I am giving a 3 star review is because the quality of the experience is almost the definition of average. The photos are taken almost as quickly as possible even when the store is empty. The upcharge of trying to get more than one pose is extremely overpriced and eliminates the discounts offered because the terms state the deal only applies to one pose. This is fine when all there only 3 options of about 7 poses and the pictures have someone blinking or moving their head or looking away because the photos were taken as quickly as possible. Out of all the poses we took, I found MAYBE 3 pictures that were acceptable and 2 of the 3 were barely acceptable. In the end, there was only one pose that looked decent and that was the one chosen. Overall, it was fine for our needs because we are not a family to take many family portraits constantly and do not have a large group of friends and family that would need more than the package we purchased. However, if you are someone who wants a lot of different pictures and several poses and a full portrait experience, I wouldn't recommend coming here. If you just want a simple picture for a family picture or annual student photos, this would be fine. read more

We went to have our family pictures done, 2 families together, for our mother. We had very low expectations due to previous experiences. We were surprisingly shocked by the experience we had. ~~ My typical experience here ~~ I've been here many times and I have always had to wait at least 30 minutes - which is hard when you little ones with their own schedules. They have decent prices and you get to take your photos that day but be prepared to spend at least 2 hours at this place. Their photos usually turn out OK, they always do the exact same poses and props most of which I do not care for. I wish they would come up with more original ideas. We did get great 1 year photos for my youngest child but we brought in our own props. (Balloons and cake make great pictures!) If you bring cake you need to let them know when making the appointment and you need to bring a disposable cloth to put underneath. I brought a white, disposable tablecloth and it worked great. ~~ My experience this weekend ~~ Took my 1 year old and 11 year old in for spring photos and had to wait for 1 hour and 45 minutes to get into the studio. NOT one single person apologized for the wait, they just kept saying "Well this is a busy season". Everyone very quickly realized that one room was being used by one of the employees friends with twins turning 1. They were in that room for an HOUR; along with at least 2 of the photographers, while the rest of us sat around with screaming, hungry babies. I was told when I first walked in that they were running about 30 minutes behind, had I known it was actually almost 2 hours I would have happily left, went home and came back later. Once we FINALLY got in, my 1 year old was hungry and tired and refused to sit still. The photographer had to rush through to get caught up and we ended up being jipped any good photos. I thought we had a great pose but when I picked up the pictures they were actually blurry and the worst quality photos I have ever received from Portrait Innovations. Unbelievable! read more

Horrible experience. They did not share their pricing or packages upfront, Their entire purchasing process was absolutely ridiculous and way overpriced. quality of photos was OK at best. Definitely would not recomment and will never come back. Even their business practices are ass backwards. They erase your photos as soon as you leave so unless you buy a DVD with photos, you cannot come back and print more later. read more

I love portrait innovations because the price is reasonable and you get your pictures same day...BUT what i would like to see is if you only getting one package say like a total of 33 portraits how come they cant give you at least 2 or 3 of your favorite poses for instant one big pic can be a pose the next another pose small another pose that way you have a lil of your favorites without loosing your pics because you only got the one pose package..some people may not can afford a packages that has all the poses..just a thought cause i saw a family that was sad because they couldn't get all their poses..but all in all my family recommends portrait innovations to everyone...and our photographer was the bomb.. read more

We went to Portrait Innovations 3 times - Once for a family photo and then for my son's 3-month and 6-month portraits. Some pro's and con's: Pro's: - Good quality photos - Nice backgrounds - Reasonable prices - Receive photos same day Con's - Promptness - They are generally 30 minutes or more behind schedule (tough with a little one!) - High-pressure sales - You are forced to listen to a long sales pitch of all their products and portrait packages, even when you tell them early-on that you are not interested. - Rude staff - The 3rd (and last!) time we went here, the photographer got very annoyed when we declined to purchase extra photos. She got a rude tone and started slamming her mouse around on the desk. If I could give zero stars I would. HORRIBLE PHOTOGRAPHS! I'm from PA and I always loved using Portrait Innovations so I assumed I would love the one in West Chester as well (Since we moved here). WRONG! They are so rude and not accommodating at all. My pictures were awful, and they wont do anything about it. I was having my infant photographed and only wanted one background and one pose because I didn't want to keep him out long. I was told if I didn't do several backgrounds and poses then I couldn't do the shoot at all. So I was pretty much forced to make my infant do a million poses and backgrounds just to purchase ONE pose. They have ZERO experience with babies and were so rough with him. Pictures turned out pretty good but the moment I wasn't able to drop hundreds of dollars and only bought the standard package the attitude of the photographer changed real quick. She turned hateful and became disrespectful and short with us. Stephanie was her name in voice of America portrait innovations. This month I was taking advantage of the canvas deal and was unable to purchase a ton of pictures but had planned on returning for family pictures in a couple months. Also planned on sports pictures next month and now I will not return because this is about the 4th time I've been treated hateful out of the 11 years we've been coming there. If I bought a large package they were always great and curtious but if you buy the standard package with only one pose then look out they will turn real quick. Not so sure why, don't think they're paid on commission, nevertheless this was very disappointing and they've lost a long time customer. read more

While many of the reviews seem to be negative, I actually had a great experience here. I was impressed with our photographer, Jeff and the quality and amount of photos he took. I only had to wait about 10 minutes after my 11:10 AM appointment time and at no point felt rushed or highly pressured to buy. The price was a little steep to receive the CD of images, but the same goes for a photo session with any other decent photographer in the area. I think if you have researched this place and their prices (visited their website), have well rested and behaved kids for 1-2 hours, and the patience to sort through your photos on-site you will be pleased. read more

This is the third time to use portrait Innovations and will be my last. We had failed to inform them about the military discount and they refused to honor it 3 days later. The pictures were printed where my daughters arm was half off the page and they were not centered. When I called back to get them reprinted they said the pictures are not saved in the computer and they could only do a retake or a refund. So unless you purchase an over priced package with the cd you can not get any pictures after you leave the studio that includes them not being available online as well. I will stick with JC Penney for my pictures from now own. I cannot believe they refused to honor military discount! read more

Never again will I have pictures made at this place. Had an appt at 1120 and had to wait over 45 min. There were about 50 people in the store and people were just rude. It's not worth the hassle with young kids to make them sit at wait just to get some boring pictures that you can get any where. So there are some positives and negatives, but overall I think it is worth giving it a try especially if you have a toddler! Jeff knows how to get that smile that you are hoping for when you are paying a good deal of money for pictures that you want to share with family and friends. This takes time and patients. He and his team have that..you have to too! I would have given a 3 star rating because as Alex Y stated, the way they introduce the pricing makes you feel dooped :( We went in because I was attracted by an amazing deal, and it was if that's all we purchased. It was around 25-30 dollars for 1 pose, a lot of prints, and a huge canvas included! What I realized is that you can pay hundreds of dollars to these private hipster photographers found through social media and not even get any prints! So if you are into that don't go here. I also didn't like the first background and I expressed that, and was told that we would use many backgrounds; we ended up with 3. I would have also liked coming back to choose photos, we were kind of tired by the end. We did so many poses of the kids, my husband and I, of all of us..a wardrobe change etc.. But once you leave, you might not come back to purchase, and all of the hard work they just did would go to waste. So I get it. I was close to giving them 5 stars because most of the photographs were beautiful, it was nice getting SO MANY photographs the same day, they were kind and accommodating. We were there for a few hours, and WE LOVE OUR PICTURES! We ended up getting the 13 or 15 pose package for under 300. Totally worth it. P.S. Stay away from this place!!! I have been there twice, 1 year apart, both in early to mid November. It's been on a weekend both times so I understand it will be a little busier. However, when you are running 45 minutes behind only 2 hours after opening you obviously have a problem. You're booking way too many people because you don't care about wasting people's time. Then when we do get called in, they FORCE you to pose for photos you expressly tell them you do not want. We went in for a simple family picture with two families, and told them how we wanted to be arranged. We had to sit their way first, snapped a bunch a photos, then we convinced her to sit our way, and she snapped less photos. Then she forced us to pose for two more family photos separately. WHY? Why waste our time, and make everyone else in the waiting area wait even longer when we don't want them? Then when you're done with the pictures, you have to wait another 20 minutes for a monitor to make your choices. Two studios, five monitors, and they're still running behind. That's simply because Portrait Innovations is run on a very poor business model. To prove it, try finding their customer service number on their website. Or an email address. Save some time... they're not listed, and for obvious reasons! I spoke with a manager at corporate and she read me canned responses. I have used this studio for several yrs and spent several hundred $$$ but haven't had a good experience in a while. The quality of photographer has really diminished. There has always been quite a wait to actually take the shots even with an appt time but it is no longer worth it. The photographer we had the last time and a previous time, a woman with spiked hair and unusual piercings, is very awkward and doesn't connect well with kids. I have grade school kids and a toddler. She used a ratted dirty stuffed animal and tennis ball to get my toddler's attention...FAR from innovative. We went mid-morning, his happiest time of day, and she got less than 10 shots with a faint closed-mouth smile in one pose, one background before he was bored and started to cry. And she was so quick to say I need to reschedule. Really? He belly laughs everyday by just saying silly gibberish words to him. But if I have to do the work to get a smile, he's looking away from the camera. There was one other customer there getting photos taken and two other employees but they didn't help. The manager was busy chatting about his golf game. With similar issues consistently over the past few visits, I know now it's definitely not a fluke. HUGE waste of time! Don't Bother!! read more

If I could give a 0 I would. Terrible customer service and unprofessional behavior by the management. I left without having pictures done because they were busy when I showed up for my appointment, so they didn't check me in until late. Because of their policy, if you're checked in after your appointment time, you are skipped apparently. They did not tell me this and just continued to tell me it would be another 15 minutes. By the 3rd time I heard that and saw people that just came in have pictures done, I was not a happy camper. The manager, Emma, was very rude when I told her I didn't agree with being skipped over; she shook her finger at me and told me it's my fault for being late, so I get skipped. Several other exchanges and I asked to speak with her manager. Jeff came out and apologized for her unprofessional behavior, but then turned it around on me and said they are just so busy and if I didn't want to wait, I should come on a Tuesday afternoon. I told him I work and my older kids are in school. He then told me that's why they're so busy; everyone else has the same problem, so I should have to wait since I was late and other people were on time. My family and I left and will not return to any portrait innovation. I assume they purposely overbook and don't properly train their staff on how to manage or how to be professional. read more
