I was ready to give this studio a scathing review because of how long we had to wait for our appointment (two hours; what's the point of making the appointment?!?!), but our photographer Amy, once she got to us, was efficient and knowledgeable and personable. The package was a little more expensive than we had anticipated (came out to $378 for the custom package instead of around $200 like we were expecting), but the pictures we received will make great Christmas presents. Recommendation: Make your appointment for early on a weekday so you don't get pushed back. read more

This new company in the portrait game is the closest your going to get to private photographer quality at wal-mart or target prices. Don't let their $9.95 special fool you. This is not cheap studio. They are at the top of their market quality wise higher than Studio-one-to-one/glamour shots, but priced to compete with wal-mart. There are not fitting fees or minimum purchase either. You get the pictures same day, 15 minutes to about an hour depending on how busy it is. Would you rather have your kids picture taken on a table or in a studio room the size of a bedroom? Don't take your past experiences from other studios and expect the same run around here. When your photographer says to buy in the collections (3 sheets of a pose), do it. They are trying to get you a better deal, like they say. Not trying get the most of your money like you have come to expect. They don't work on commission, so you should not feel pressured. If you do it is because you are too consumed by your misconceptions of value. If you spend more on your child's outfit and on the pictures it is for, your priorities are in the wrong place. The company is the same in every location, so you should have the same experience where ever you go. There are lots of props for the pictures and you are allowed to have a change of clothes. This does not mean to bring your closet with you. They do invite you to bring your own props. It definitely brings out the creativity in the photographer when they get to use something new and it makes the pictures even better when they are personalized to your child. If its for a special events don't forget what is important, if its their birthday talk to the studio about you bringing a cake, if its first communion for God sakes remember your Bible and rosary, if its graduation seriously bring the cap and gown. You can't see the event in your pictures if you don't bring your props! They expand their hours for the Christmas and Easter holidays. Which means they open on Mondays and expand their hours to about 7 am to 7 pm depending on demand. Do make appointments, they accept walk-ins but as appointment times are available. They are not going to take a walk-in ahead of an appointment, that is just rude and inconsiderate of the person who took the time to make an appointment. The best tip I can give you is if you go the last week of October they have their Christmas set already up and you can get fun pictures in halloween costumes at the same sitting and save you a lot of time, money and unneeded frustration during the holidays. read more

Went to this location yesterday to take pictures for my kids, I will not be returning to this establishment. The lady taking my kids pictures was rude, disrespectful and strong armed/bullied us into getting more pictures. I hate when sales people treat you in a manipulative way to get what they want. Again, never going back to this place. We were looking over the pictures and she kept saying, "You said you haven't had pictures of your children since your son was little." And then I wanted to take more pictures off the package and she said, "So your telling me, your taking the only pose your husband liked out of the whole package," it was none of her business which ones I included or took out. I told her a price point I wanted to stay within and she ignored it. Those that said they don't work on commissions, I feel, is BS. Joy, was NOT a joy to work with. I went on a Sunday for family photos and her appearance looked as though she had a hangover from a Saturday night. She kept wiping her nose and it looked gross. My son in all fairness wasn't cooperating but she didn't try what so ever to catch a smile on him. All the photos came out like crap because she did a crappy job and still wanted me to purchase photos of him not even looking at the camera. I barely got 1 decent photo and I was not at all impressed. Joy then forgot to place all the photos I purchased together so I left missing the entire bundle. She did call after I got home 30 minutes later. She should have checked before handing them over to me. I will not be going back. I want to like Portrait Innovations...I really do! I took my kids there for years when they were little when we lived in Kansas City, so this Christmas, when my husband asked for a family picture for Christmas, I MADE A RESERVATION for 10:15 am on a Sunday morning. They open at 9 am and we were going to meet a friend for lunch and to watch football later that morning. How late could they be if my appointment was literally the 6th appointment time in the morning? Well, we got there yesterday (12/23) for our appointment time and the place was packed. No seats were available and every room was full. My girls got dressed in their holiday dresses and were ready to go, and then we waited, and wAiTeD and WAITED. I finally went up and ask (when I saw families who had arrived after us go in front of us) and I was told there was only one more family in front of us. At this point, it was 11 am. Within 2 hours of them being open, they were more than an hour behind schedule. We left and, I'm sad to say, we won't be back. We'll find a new place to have our family photos done who is more respectful of our schedules. My guess is that they allowed walk-ins to have their pictures taken ahead of those who had appointments. Unless you have 2-3 hours to sit around, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. read more

I have been to this studio three times in the past year. I know, I'm a slow learner. I just kept hoping that the next time it would be better, but it just got worse and worse every time. The reason I kept coming back was the price. They are lower than many other places and you get more shots. Also, the photo proof CD where you get all of your pictures from the session that you can download onto your computer was a draw as well. However, that's where the positives end. And what's the point of having all of those photos when they're all poorly taken... The photographers at this studio take absolutely no pride in their work. They are there to get you in and out, and take the photos whether your child is crying, whether everyone is facing the front, whether your fly is unzipped, whatever, they really just don't care. So many of our best shots had an arm cut out of the picture, or the chair my son was sitting in was only halfway in the shot, making those photos completely unusuable. Then, I was told they would crop them and center them before printing...they didn't. I was told they would photoshop the dirt or scratches from the dirty props out...they didn't. They really do not care if the customer is happy. They are in a big hurry and it shows. Also, you MUST have an appointment. Don't let their "Walk-Ins Welcome" on their website and on the front door fool you, they don't mean it. I had called yesterday in the late afternoon to make an appointment and they said they had some available right after they opened the next morning. I ended up booking an afternoon appointment instead, but when we got up we thought we would just do a walk-in because it worked out better for our schedule. On the way, I called just to make sure it wasn't too crowded and the guy who answered was extremely rude and told me that they were just much too booked. I asked if we could just do a walk-in and wait on the next available room, that we were in no hurry at all, and he said we could walk in but we would still have to wait five hours until our appointment time because they were extremely booked throughout the weekend. When I went at our appointment time there were only two families in there for the entire hour we were there, and the two men who work up front and also double as photographers spent the majority of that hour sitting in chairs and slandering customers they had either talked to on the phone that day or had in the studio. It was extremely unprofessional. After three times of wasting money here and a years worth of very disappointing photographic memories, I would rather go ANYWHERE else than go back here. Spend a little more for better quality, you don't even get what you pay for here, you get so much less. read more

I am so embarrassed. These people refused to take my maternity pictures. I would NEVER return to this place. I called and saw pictures on their site with other customers taking pics in similar outfits, and yet I was refused. Shame on you guys. You just messed up my whole maternity experience. Then on top of that the manager at this location was extremely rude and unprofessional. She told me " I don't have to explain anything to you". Then when I became upset by her rude behavior, she says "I need to take a smoke break". I haven't been here in years, but i surely won't be coming back. Had a terrible experience here today. Mother's Day appointment set for 2:40 and it took two hours for the photographer to get to us. Once he got to us, the photographer, Jon, did a terrible job organizing the pictures. There was space between members of the family in the pictures. And none of them were good shots. We only wanted one family set of pics. Jon took at least thirty going through the motions. After a two hour wait, at least put some effort into it. My sister and I got pictures done of the kids because I was in town and we had a TERRIBLE experience. Amber was the associate that took the kids pictures and she had a terrible attitude. She was rude, rolling her eyes at a two year old and basically complaining about how a toddler was not cooperating. He is 2 and at some point she said "she would think a two year old would talk more or listen better" The only reasons we continued getting the pictures done was because I have to leave in a few days and we did not have time to go anywhere else. She did not have the patience required to work with toddlers. My sister has been going to this location for five years and unfortunately she will now never go back because of this experience. read more

I am only giving to stars because of how the photographer tried to hard to get my 9mo old to smile and the good faces she was able to capture of him. Now on to the other stuff... I went with another family member and her daughter and we each did a shoot. 2 different people did them which was fine until I saw her pictures which had nice backgrounds like outside views and editing. They also had way cuter props while I had these ugly old scratched up chairs that I don't feel like looked good enough for a professional picture at all. I even mentioned it and they did nothing to accommodate it. all the good stuff. I was not offered or showed a single outside view or background for any of my photos which really REALLY disappointed me. Yeah my pictures are good but look plain. with a plain white background and nothing else. There was also ZERO editing. she gave every picture just like it was took and absolutely nothing extra, which isn't THAT big of a deal but my some had a litter scratch on his face on the side she kept shooting him on so it would have been nice to blotch it out. But here is the biggest issue we had...When my sister in law did hers they convinced her that in order to get the disk with all the pictures she had to get a big expensive package so she fell into it and paid almost 300 dollars! But hey, at least she got some nice backgrounds and white teeth on her pictures. When I did mine, I really wanted the disk but wasn't planning on dropping that much so I settled and said I could go without the disk. I chose the minimal amount of pictures, like 5 or 6 and got some prints and some canvas and a disk with those pictures. Not a bad deal for 160 dollars (if only I got the backgrounds lol). So we get home and guess what? ALL OF THE PICTURES are on my disk! which I am very happy about but not so much my sister in law who got the huge package just to get the same thing I got. I am not saying don't go here but don't trust what they say and be very demanding when it comes to editing and props because they don't just show you everything to make sure you are the happiest you can be. read more

The League City/Webster location could definitely use some training in customer service. I took my kids here for holiday photos while we were in town visiting family. The service here overall was mediocre. The employees did a lot of standing around and would go off into the print room to hangout with each other instead of making sure their customers needs were met. Then one of the male staff member who was trying to get my kids to smile reeked off stale cigarettes and it really grossed me out. Our overall visit lasted for several hours even though we were the only family there. I was kinda thrown off by my overall final price because the total was well over $300 and that's not what I expecting to pay. I was in a hurry to get things finished though because by this point I had a cranky baby who was in need of a bottle and a nap. I was told that the photo books I ordered would arrive in a couple of weeks and that I would be able to stop by the studio to pick them up. The weeks passed and the day after my 27th delivery date passed I decided to give them a call for an update. I tried calling the studio multiple times throughout a 3 hour period and all I ever got was a busy tone. I then tried to go pick them up later on that day and was told that they must still be in production because nothing had been received yet. She said that I would get an email when they were ready. After not getting the results that I wanted I opted to go home and then to try again the next day. So here I am on Friday December 29th and after not hearing anything from the studio I decided to call back. Of course I was given the same answer and the lady insisted that it was just an "estimated" delivery date so I shouldn't be surprised with the delay. She told me that I could call them back after their shipment at 3pm to see if they arrived. I then went on to explain that I will be leaving to go back home to Dallas on Sunday the 31st and she told me that I can just have a family member stop by and get them or I can get them if I'm back in town within their 45 day holding period. I explained that neither one of those scenarios were feasible and asked if arrangements could be made for them to be shipped to me. She explained that the studio can't do that and said that if I wanted to have them mailed to me that it would be about $25 to ship them because mailing arrangements were not made at my initial purchase. I asked why I had to be inconvenienced further by spending additional money out of pocket and all she could do was offer an apology and tell me to call customer service to see what they could do. I honestly felt like she could've handled things a lot differently. She could have offered to call me back personally with an update around my order later on today and/or she should've been the one making arrangements through their customer service. I'm grateful though that when I did talk to a service rep that the lady was kind and that she actually fixed my problem with ease. This was my first and LAST time to get my family photos taken with this company. read more

I have taken pictures here several times but hadn't been here for a little over a year. The service we received was not good. I brought my 3 month old baby to get pic and I advised we would take a few Christmas pictures but to focus on baby pictures. Our photographer Es'zaniyah did not listen and kept taking photos with Christmas backgrounds. Then she kept posing my son weird, and was unable to work the camera properly. She was nice but obviously inexperienced. The photos all looked pretty bad as in bad lighting, looking away etc. Then she announced she needed to leave and had another associate take over the purchasing section. Sean would not listen, kept telling us he did not know how to change pictures to black and white. Then we advised him the screen was horrible and we couldn't really see the pictures, he was like oh yeah the screen is bad. Overall once pictures printed we advised they were too dark and wanted them lighter. He advised he did not know how to do that and we had to speak with the manager. We have called every day to speak with Austin the manager who is never available and does not call back. At this point I will never return and want others to beware of this bad service! read more

The worst photo studio i've been to even for the price. The ones in Fort Worth are 100%. This studio is beyond filthy, shocked I didnt see roaches scrambling across the floor! When we came to pick our pics back up the lady at the front told the other outloud that we need to wait she gotta go eat her food, wish i wouldve gotten her name! So unprofessional. One big black lady was nice but the white lady act like she was on drugs & impatient. They rushed everything. The couches and floor just so run down n filthy uggh. Do better! During my session the the girl who was taking pictures kept stepping out to answer 2-3 phone calls which kept us waiting.. when on the phone with a person or potential customer she kept rolling her eyes giving her a attitude over the phone and then said you can get our physical address through google just like you got our phone number .. the (photographer) seemed so bothered at the lady on the phone it was horrible looking at her and listening to her . It's really unprofessional here. I also called 2 weeks later to check if my canvas was in , who ever answered was bothered to even have to check their system to check. There are several cons to this portrait studio, but I will focus on the one that was the most disturbing to us. After paying over $200 for a photo/cd package we were shocked to learn that the cd we bought had very low resolution photos on it. We called back to inquire because they kept calling it the "high resolution photo cd". The manager was our photographer and she also spoke to us on the phone. She said she never called it that. Then she had the nerve to tell us for $100 more we could "unlock" the high resolution copies already on our disk. The photos we paid for and got on our cd are so low resolution we could not print them elsewhere which apparently is the reason for the bait and switch. For $200 we only got about 12 mediocre quality prints and an extremely poor quality photo cd. If that wasn't enough of a reason for the bad review, there is also the extra hour they made us wait beyond our appointment time. Then they rush us through as many poses as possible so they can upsell the packages based on number of poses. If you want a high resolution CD be prepared to spend at least $300 on below average photos. read more

First and foremost, let me just say this isn't like any other place I've been to. There WILL be a lot of people, and you will have to wait.. the employees are very patient and very pleasant.. however the scheduling system could use some work. We were quoted different times for when it would be our turn..they allowed us an outfit change and and even though there are a lot of people waiting we didn't feel rushed. After seeing the many advertisements for family portraits we decided to book an appointment for last Saturday . We showed up all dressed up and made time out of our busy holiday schedules to be photographed . This place is pretty much a cattle call and a madhouse . There's no structure and no organization or management going on. Our appointment was at 4:30 and we waited nearly an hour only to be told we would have to wait for another hour or more . We finally decided to pack it up and go home and have a relative take our photos for free. Don't fall for the $19.99 special it's a total farce ! They lost business and will continue to lose business because they can't get their act together! It seems all locations have bad reviews which means this is a Corporate wide problem and that they need help badly . I had never heard of his place before but will not even give them the time of day again and I'll be emailing corporate too . read more

My original appointment was cancelled the morning of and Leslie did not apologize but was very rude and cutting me off when I had questions about the new appt., I proceeded to handle her rough in return and she then told me I was being rude well respect is earned...I took the photos and told Sam I did not want pics in the twos or threes and she lied and told me I couldn't get the CD if I went Chester than that...I spoke to my relative and she told me that she paid $70 cheaper and received the CD, I went back to pick up the photos and they were not ready after 5 hours and no one had enough decency to give a courtesy call saying the printer was messed up, I made a blank trip that didn't seem to bother them, no apology smh, I complained to Leslie about being told the CD only came with packages costing $200-$300 and she told me that's not true but she can't issue a refund or make changes, it is very unfair to manipulate customers to purchase more than necessary and then pay for mistakes if employees, so I will NEVER return I do not like giving my money to rude businesses, they have attitudes that are nasty and unprofessional just like their attire, tacky individuals acting like middle school girls, it's a shame read more

I recently went to this location with my spouse who is a DJ to take some professional photos. The manager was down to earth & did her best to accommodate us as well as other customers as she was the only one working. She had a warm and inviting personality that helped us capture some really great photos. We are glad we made the decision to go here and we will back in the future. read more

I had an an appointment at 4:20 pm, but I came late about 20 minutes due to bad traffic on Friday rush hour. When I just arrived, I said: "I am sorry I am late because of bad traffic." The manager, her name is Amy, told me that she can not take picture of my family and the next available appointment is 6:40 pm same day if we want to wait. We accepted the appointment at 6:40 pm, and our family (3 small children & 2 adults wearing suits & dress) sit there and waiting to be on time. But when the clock shows 6:40 pm, we checked with manager Amy, then she said that there are 4 people ahead of us, and she does not know when she can take pictures of our family. Our family wasting 2 hours waiting there for nothing, and Amy never say a word "sorry". What is the point of making appointment? The manager Amy got bad management and bad attitude with customers. We never come back here again even it's free. If you want to have beautiful pictures with happy face, don't go to this place. read more
