Location: La Concepcion is perched on Cerro Concepcion, one of Valparaiso's signature hills. The outdoor dining area overlooks the Valparaiso's port and the Pacific Ocean. Food: Easily on par with some of the best restaurants in NYC. First off, the complimentary whole-grain bread they serve is delicious. Our first night, I had the squash soup to start which was outstanding, with a really nice depth of flavor. I followed that with the Crab ravioli which certainly lived up to the hype! Each ravioli encases an impressive amount of crab meat and the accompanying cream sauce makes for a truly divine main. My second night, I started with the ceviche and followed with the braised beef with pumpkin gnocchi, which were both very good, although out of everything I ordered, the crab ravioli reigned supreme. Drinks: I had a Manhattan each night, which was well-made. The bottle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon we ordered to accompany our meal had nice depth of flavor and went well with beef. Service: Top-notch. Waitstaff did a great job making sure our needs were attended to and provided helpful recommendations. Overall: A must when in Valparaiso!

It has a homey, rustic decor. It's open from lunch on all day which is good if you are looking for a late lunch early dinner. Not a place for sea views like many other places in this area - the two windows in front look out on the buildings across the narrow street - but the food is definitely worth trying.
