This program was excellent and there are many dedicated teachers. However the school administration…read moreis centralized now and it is extremely difficult to get any help or even communication back as an alumni. Antioch also failed I think on admission to advise potential students how demanding the years of acquiring "hours" for full licensing would be,adding sometimes many years to the process of becoming a licensed therapist, after a couple years of rigorous study. At critical points Antioch University administratively failed, at significant points, in my path to licensure, to provide important letters and documents to the BBS, allowing progress toward licensure to be delayed by months and months. It was incredibly frustrating. There is an apparent at times near total disregard for students who are alumni, no longer the revenue focus. On two occasions I was left hanging with NO access to essential administrative support. Since you will be dependent on your university for three to six more years after graduation, possibly to even be able to continue your progress to final licensure, consider choosing a different program, a different university that has proper access to what you are likely to need. I wish I had.

They have an out of tune cream colored k. Kawaii baby grand piano in the front window, but it is purely a decoration and not to be played and they will quickly inform you of that. I still can't believe how I was treated when I walked in out of pure curiosity. Poor poor customer service and rude individuals!

So what's better than history, culture, food and a vibrant street scene? ART! Located directly next…read moreto the historic Arlington Theatre on State Street is this roomie serene art gallery. The breath of interesting works is quite remarkable and this gallery offers a rich and rewarding start to your adventure on State Street. One of the featured artists, Richard Schloss may actually be painting behind the scenes in the gallery. How cool that? Some of his works feature the other worldly qualities of rainy conditions around the area. They are deeply interesting and atmospheric! The staff is super laid back, knowledgeable and very in tune with the artists featured in their gallery. This rich experience was further enhanced by the adorable dog that accompanies the owners to work and has run of the gallery. The paintings in this gallery were amazing and you could certainly build a room or house around some of them! State Street is an experience like no other and this Art Gallery made it even more so. A must stop for anyone in the area! -G

From the organized and open lay out of the gallery, to the friendly assistance by Mr. Rick Schloss and his wife, Julie - my experience at SB Fine Art was second to none. For those that are not familiar with Mr. Schloss's artistic style, he specializes and demonstrates mastery in depicting Seascapes. The way in which he captures natural light and reflections is truly stunning. One must see for themselves to appreciate his level of expertise. Additionally, what I also appreciate about SB Fine Art is that Mr. Schloss has opened his doors (and walls) to display artwork by local Artists of various styles. He continuously exhibits his love and support for the Santa Barbara community and we are very lucky to have him! For those looking to add exquisite artistic decor to their homes that embodies the natural beauty of Santa Barbara I highly recommend stopping by SB Fine Art.

The Montecito Family YMCA is a beautiful and welcoming space that clearly has whole-person wellness…read moreas its top priority. I was staying near Montecito for a while and needed a place to work out. I'm usually a pretty hardcore gym person, but something about the Montecito's Y website was extremely attractive so I decided to give them a try. I was going to schedule a tour on the site but did not since I couldn't be certain of the time I'd be able to get there. The website was very inviting and said something like "...or just stop on by..." which I did, I was greeted so warmly, and so enthusiastically by the staff (John, along with 2 lovely ladies whose names I did not get) that it felt both unreal yet fully genuine at the same time. The facility, while housing modern equipment, feels like a throwback to a simpler time, with multiple workout areas, some partially outdoors (awesome!) and a great pool that's heated year-round. Every member I encountered offered a warm smile and a hello, and extra touches like a wide array of flowers for sale are wonderful. I was set to be in the area through the New Year for a job that unfortunately ended prematurely. Still, I'm so grateful to the team at the Montecito Family Y for inviting me in so beautifully when I visited, providing all the equipment I needed for a full workout, and for existing as a beacon of community at a time when our world needs it the most.

I don't know what the best solution is for this but it's a mess in terms of behavior. Nobody follows the sauna rules and brings in newspapers, headphones, food, and one guy even put his gross soaked workout clothes over the heater to dry! Just absolutely abhorrent, inconsiderate behavior. One man recently brought a huge glass bottle inside to drink with the other day, and a few of us were worried what would happen if it fell off the bench. We're all barefoot, after all. Sure enough we all heard an explosion and lots of loud cursing (classy) from the locker room later, and it turns out he dropped it and it shattered all over the changing area floor. A worker gave the man a broom but didn't say anything about why the guy brought a huge glass juice bottle out in the first place. I wouldn't feel safe bringing my kid here if they're so laid back about broken glass on the ground. Not sure what the point is of having a huge rule list taped on the sauna door is when nobody enforces it. People also take super loud phone calls as well despite the no cell-phone sign. Watch your feet if you're in the men's locker room, cause with the rubber mats with holes in them, there's no way they cleaned all the shards out unless they removed the mats and cleaned. And we can all tell from the wet mud stains in between the gaps whether or not this will ever happen...

But then it got weird. Feeling out of place with the group, I must have said something awkward that was misunderstood by Tom. When I asked about switching days to make up my monthly classes and to credit that I had already paid for, he disqualified me and said he no longer wanted to work with me. I was genuinely hurt. I really wanted to learn and he made me feel like I was this terrible person for saying something that was misunderstood. I still remember how bad my experience was, that I'm afraid to go out and try again . Maybe I would have "clicked better with a women instructor, but Tom was mean and hurtful.
