She had spent most of her short life in a private rescue kennel before making the long journey from Macedonia to Ireland. Needless to say, she was completely bewildered and extremely anxious when she arrived. She had also picked up kennel cough en route, so wasn't too well. Wendy advised on various ways to ease her anxiety and had suggestions on how to manage her symptoms until I could get her to the vet. Wendy also gave invaluable guidance on introducing our resident 28kg Irish water spaniel to the 6.5kg puppy. This was a difficult task, given how reactive the small dog was & the huge size difference. (I wasn't expecting such a small dog- I was under the impression she was 11kg!) I strongly recommend Wendy's services for anyone rehoming an anxious or reactive dog. I believe key pieces of expert advice made a huge difference. Initially the pup was showing signs of dominance towards the older dog, but this was nipped in the bud before it became entrenched. It's so easy to unwittingly exacerbate behavioural problems without the insight of an expert, and a book will only take you so far. Doing exactly the right thing at exactly the right moment works wonders in dog training. It's not an easy thing to pull off without the help of an experienced eye. Wendy watched the dogs interact via video call and was able to tell me what was going on in real time. The pup is settling in beautifully and is now submissive to the older dog. More recently, chasing games in the garden have ended badly as the older dog gets carried away in pursuit of the smaller dog. Wendy has experience of mediating behaviours between large and small dogs during play, so she was able to help with this also.

Wendy was fantastic at explaining to us how a dog thinks and reacts and got us to understand the benefits of praising good behaviour rather than punish bad behaviour. We often go away and so it was wonderful to have Wendy there to look after Rollo and know that he was in excellent hands and also that all the good training was being reinforced while we were away. The best sign of how loved Wendy is, is when we go to her house Rollo practially pulls our arms off trying to get to her.

They have also dealt with medication when required. I can go away relaxed in the knowledge that all will be well. The receptionists are polite, helpful, friendly and have a strong bond with all the animals we have seen them deal with. The resident vet takes times to listen and obviously is caring towards animals rather than rushing patients through. The location of the surgery is very convenient as it it is in the purpose built off-road precinct that includes Tesco Express, a takeaway and recently joined by a hairdressers and estate agents. Parking is not an issue and more often than not you can park in from of the building. Although we haven't used other vets in the Eastbourne area so can't make a comparison we have no reason to change from Foremann & Hanna. Definitely recommend them as local vets if you live in the area.

My only specifications were for them to thin out the hair on the back of his neck as he is long haired and it grows very thick and long there. As a long haired dog he mainly requires trimming on his chest, back of the neck, sanitary areas and shaving of the paws. My dog came away with a very wonky and uneven hair cut on his chest and bottom aswell as his paws were not shaved. My main concern is how the owner of the shop responded to my complaint. Very rude and unwilling to accept an opinion that differs from her own. She claims that they do not offer thinning hair out on the neck even though the website very clearly states they offer a full body cut to your requirements. I was offered a full refund for the groom when I spoke to her on the phone however she later emailed to say she will only return 50% of the money. The staff don't seem very experienced in dog grooming or customer service and I would recommend avoiding them.
