And this was during the evening, not some sort of early-bird special. We were greeted by a very polite gentleman and shown to a table. The restaurant itself was decorated on the fancier side of the standard Indian decor template. There was only one other table there that evening, who, although they arrived before us, were still there when we were leaving, their plates long since removed. There was a decent variety of dishes on the specials menu. I ordered a Peshwari kebab for my starter, and a chicken rogan josh for my main. The two courses were served almost simultaneously. A Peshwari kebab is in essence a lamb burger - which was grand - and the rogan josh was very tasty. I was pleased to see that the two course deal included naan breads. It's always nice when they don't try to stiff you by not including such essential extras such as naans. I can't remember what the other two lads had, but it's safe to say that we were all thoroughly satisfied. The service was very prompt, almost too attentive - there was a waiter posted over my shoulder almost constantly, and he took up the bill almost the second after I'd paid it. I've mentioned before that I'm a teeny bit uncomfortable with the idea of being waited on, but I suppose i'm nit-picking, and I'd no doubt be giving out if the service was slow. Just as we were leaving, the chef and (I assume) the proprietor himself came out and shook my hand, which was an unexpected and nice touch. One word of warning, though - they bring you out a little saucer of toffees once you've finished the meal. I ate one which was soft and yielding, and when I chomped down on the second one, assuming it to be of a similar consistency, I almost severely damaged the muscles on the left-hand side of my jaw, so watch out for the toffees. During that hour, we were treated to a greatest-hits remix of: "10 minutes", "Just more 10 minutes","5 minutes" "Definitely 10 minutes."And, as we stood up to leave... "10 minutes and it will be ready." ...All spaced artfully across 75 minutes. Olympic-level time optimism. The restaurant itself was close to empty(unless you count the takeaway orders stacking up and waiting just as long), so the delay was baffling. On arrival, I had to request a new side plate because the existing one had visible, scrapable dirt. The ladies' toilets smelt strongly of urine, the sink was dirty and grimy, and the room had clearly not encountered antibacterial spray in quite some time. Overall, the place felt grubby and neglected. I ordered a mixed grill with raita, only to be told they no longer do raita. That seemed to set the tone -- anything requiring freshness is off the menu. Neither the waiter nor the menu could provide allergen information, which in 2026 is astonishing. We eventually left because, frankly, we no longer trusted that anything arriving from the kitchen would justify the wait. It's genuinely sad. Someone has taken what was once a gorgeous, consistently excellent restaurant and managed to run it into the ground in record time. I would not consider returning. The only redeeming part of the evening? We crossed the road to Quinlan's Seafood Bar and were served beautiful, fresh fish promptly, in an immaculately clean setting, by lovely staff. They left and returned with a man who more forcefully explained it was allowed and eventually the owner/ manager relented and allowed it but made a big deal about nobody sitting at the table near them because there was a dog. I'm from the US and considered that in Ireland the same non-discrimination laws may not apply, but I just looked it up and service animal are in fact allowed in establishments serving food. I hope Kashmir staff educate themselves and provide more equitable treatment to their guests in the future. Observing this ruined the meal for me, unfortunately.
