A visit to Poole is not complete without a visit to Poole Park. I suppose the most well known feature, apart from the lake, is the Miniature Railway, which regularly stops at the little staion to take children and their parents around the park. This is around twenty minute long, so worth doing. There is the revamped restaurant with Ice Rink attached, now this is fun! And again it's great for the kids as it's not very big. A few skating guys are there to rescue anyone in trouble and they raise the fun notches if there's only a few children (book this in advance). Miniature golf is fu- oh is it crazy golf? Windmills and hazrds and such. Also there are tennis courts - real ones, not fun ones. There are adventure playgrounds at either end of the park, a cycling circuit and a cricket oval, or in this case, circle. Boats can be hired for sailing, with an experienced teacher. Loads of grass space to play frisbee, run around or just lol with a book. The Park is always the start and finish of charity races which means it gets shut for a little while but you get in with plenty of time to cheer on your mates. Loos vary. read more

Poole park is one of my favorite places in the town with its lakes and wild birds as well as boats and play parks it has a little something for everyone. I have been visiting the park my whole life right back to the times of the Poole park zoo and these visits have continued on after the Zoo closed. There is plenty for children to do with 2 separate play parks with swings and slides etc and plenty of ducks to feed. With rowing and pedal boats that allow you to explore the larger lake and sail around its 5 islands that represent the 5 main islands in Poole bay. Be sure to visit the indoor play area and indoor ice rink and take a ride on the small railway that weaves around the lake and between the ducks. What more could u wish for on a cheap day out for the kids. Other activities include tennis courts, bowls and plenty of open space for football or cricket. *Check out the Christmas area which this year includes real reindeer as well as turkeys and rabbits. read more

Poole Park has for many years, since it was opened in 1890, been at the heart of the Town of Poole. There is something for all the family, from feeding the ducks to riding on the miniature railway, playing in Gus Gorillas to chilling in the ice rink. There are two lovely cafes to eat in if you get a bit peckish. Alternatively a picnic is a very pleasurable experience. For the adventurous out there you can try pedal boats or sailing. For many years I have enjoyed soaking up the beautiful scenery of Poole Park. It is such a pleasure to see all the wild bird, squirrels and other people who are enjoying the park. The mini golf and the tennis courts are great fun too and are situated on the other side of the park. Tennis courts can be hired at a very reasonable fee. The model racing boats and bowling are also popular activities with the older folk. read more

We love visiting Poole park. The area of Poole park houses green land and a park as well as a crzy gold course, tennis courts and an area for people to sit and relax. There is a cafe plonked right in the middle of the park which hosts a small ice rink as well as a children's play area. We find the parking at Poole Park to be limited but also scary when we park right on the water's edge. There is a nice little land train that stops in the park and takes passangers down to the quany front and back again. As a visitor to Dorset, it is advisable to visit Poole Park on a nice day as you can take a long leisurely walk and stop for lunch in the cafe. read more

In my opinion poole park is becoming better and better! the new restraunt mezza luna sells great food, despite being quite pricey. But dont worry, there are still plenty of cheap activities to do, many for free! for example the pleasant walk around the lake and 2 playgrounds makes it a perfect location for a family day out. I went last christmas and there was also a santas grotto accessible by foot or the miniature train, with live reindeer, it was enchanting! Poole park is also great for sports; there is the tennis courts (free out of season and reasonably priced during ) the boules court and the park is always a great place for a jog! read more

In my opinion, Poole park can be a very enjoyable, and relaxing place to spend time in. With the lovely new restaurant 'Mezza Luna', the added touch is brilliant and you can easily enjoy a very nice meal there. Also, with several other things to do there, such as mini golf or a game of putting on the putting green, it is a very nice place to spend an afternoon. Also, it is very convenient for going to local places, such as the shopping centre in Poole, or even to the beach in Sandbanks. read more
