About 2 years ago my husband and I started the process of meeting with contractors to gut our yard, install an in ground pool and pavers. I took a long time to decide who I wanted to use and of course we kept putting it off. And I am glad I did. A few months ago Joseph Scuteri (member of our tville page, who I don't know) posted a thank you to Pool Giant for all their hard work. As soon as I saw that I called and that was it. Vinny sold me, because I could see what kind of guy he was. They have been at my house the past couple of weeks. Not only the workers but owner Vinny Saia was at my house everyday. Digging dirt, in the hole, carrying the heavy stuff, getting his hands dirty. He and his workers are incredible. As a home owner for over 10 years I have to say Vinny is the best contractor I ever worked with. The level of care, dedication and just overall niceness he shows in himself, his business and his workers is so refreshing. He's a tottenville resident. Please take my word for it-DO NOT use this company Had them close my inground pool (that has a vinyl liner) and they built my mom an above ground pool. THEY CLOSED BOTH POOLS INCORRECTLY. Being that I have an inground pool-your never ever supposed to drop the water level below the filter-you have to leave it full-when they came to close my pool I was at work all winter long the pool of course started to lose water and when we finally opened it in June-All the water went behind the liner-of course-because there was barely any water left in the pool and all the water from the ground water was now seeping in behind the liner. I spoke to a woman on the phone who was definitely a native Staten Islander-and she told me she would speak to "Vinny". "Vinny" Did not even have the courtesy of calling me back and just gave a price of $500 to repair the damage that he caused.Finally after speaking to him-He told me that he did not close the pool incorrectly-although on the phone he admitted he dropped the water level...and blamed it on the pool liner not being properly tucked into the wall and said we needed bead lock...so I chalked it up to faulty installation from the original company that installed the pool...I call them-and they clearly explained in detail and even gave a courtesy visit to show me exactly what was done incorrectly (as I apologized for not calling them in the first place-because they were so busy when I wanted them to close my pool). Then the day before Pool Giant was supposed to come another Native Staten Island Lady (you can tell from the accent) called me. I told her Im Sorry But there is no way I will allow your company near my pool because 1. You Closed it improperly 2. You were not even willing to meet me 1/2 way in fixing the problem on the disaster you caused. Her response "You must be misinformed-we closed the pool correctly"...and she hung up. Great Business Manners!!! Gotta Love Staten Island. Well On Monday Grecian Pools is coming to try to reset the liner and clean out the Green swamp it became from them closing it. That'll cost $400. IF that doesn't work-then I will have to spend $1900 to replace the liner. We are now in July! They have not only cost we a month of time I could have been swimming but a lesson in who to trust your pool to. Because of their Reply to their work this will have to be dealt with in Small Claims Court. I doubt I will lose. Please trust me-Don't use this company. My Mothers pool was also affected because they didn't blow out her water lines in her filter and there was cracks causing leaks etc....just a nightmare! read more

I had used Pool Giant to close and open my pool through 2013; when my Handyman recommended his friend, I then switched; this new person always had the proper business attitude that a customer's conserns and preferences were addressed favorably.Then, in this late summer (2017), my home phone book was misplaced, So, I called Pool Giant to close my pool; Vinny came witht his crew on time and we shook hands; then he said that he uses a new piece of hardware to close the pool, and it will cost me $20; I responded that that is fine. He also starts questioning me about who' s been doing my service, and I honestly told him about the misplaced phone book; he then asked me how many of my used pillows I want him to use, and I said all of them so that I won't have to drain water off the cover; he then said that I'm trying to reinvent the wheel and he will charge me more; he added that I should use my other guy; I said that next time I will, and he gathered his workers and walked off the job without putting back anything to my storage bin that was taken out, incuding a large pillow left covering my air conditioning unit that could have cause damage if I had not noticed it there. read more

At first I thought this company was great they opened my pool for me then came and closed it which cost me a fortune to close it and for a cover that was supposed to be a "better" one ... they must have ripped my liner while closing the pool because within a week of the pool being closed all the water in my pool drained out .. I immediately called the company and left messages on the machine explaining what was going on ... they didn't return any of my calls and now I'm left to deal with this problem ... Do Not use this company they are a rip off and vanish when there's a problem that they caused ... such a disappointment! read more

When do you need a pool service - of course when they are the busiest...opened the pool filled it, got all of the chemicals set - found out we had a leak and had to start adding 2 inches of water every other day! very costly, etc. and I wanted to pool fixed! I found out we needed a new skimmer...call my regular guy (who was up to his eyeballs with installation of built-ins) - confirmed my finding - BUT could get to it for at least 2-3 week...he apologized...went to 2 other places for a recommendation - and received the same answer...too busy, etc. I purchased all of the hardware at a place near me and asked for a recommendation - and they gave me Pool Giant... I called and received a machine - and was ready to go to a new service...3 hours later - I received a call about what I needed...I told them and they were ready to come by in 2 days! I couldn't be there on that date - but they came in 2 days later and were very accommodating...in less than a half hour - they installed all of the hardware (which was all under a deck) and off they went...a special thanks to Vinny - professional, courteous and a great attitude - the service was great and the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend using them and I plan to use them in the future. read more

It was the Fourth of July and I had planned a barbecue. I had ordered a heater for my pool and needed someone to re- pipe the filter and heater. The filter was not working and the pool was a mess. They were very busy at the time but they made time to do what was necessary and got the pool running and cleaned up in time for my barbecue. The service was great and the price was reasonable. i had to change my liner cuz it was light blue n i wanted domething nicer .. well lets start by saying my liner was 6 yrs old n installed perfect n level nothing was wrong with it . so i buy a liner from pool factory n they give me pool giants card i call n he vinny comes out to put new in . my hubby bought everything he suggeasted n he installed my pool .well the floor is not level middle is 3 inches higher then wdges ,he lift nothing but big holes from his shoes in my pool n its losing water .so i call and the lady is very nice n offers for him to come out n look at it ,i tell her well i just filled it going away ill c how it is when i get home. lost 2.5 inches of water . so i called back . i took pics of the wrinkles n foot print n measured the pool n took pics to show uneven just in casethey dont respond im giving them a chance to fix n help me fix pool begore i really go crazy on this review but i am building up my evidence.stay tuned read more

Vinny came to my house on April 28, 2016 to measure and give an estimate to replace a liner in my pool. While doing so he tore down the existing liner and left it hanging in the bottom of the pool. After giving the estimate (which was fine with me) he asked me if I wanted him to order the new liner. I said yes since I thought he knew better than I did about the type of liner I needed. He told me to choose a liner pattern and call his office with a credit card for payment of the liner since it was not included in the estimate. I immediately did exactly as he told me to. While speaking to his secretary she gave me the installation date of May 19th. On May 17th I got a call from Lisa saying that they did not have the liner for my pool and they would be canceling my appointment, even though they had charged my credit card for the liner on April 28th, my liner was never ordered. Three weeks later I called their office again to inquire about the liner and installation date and was told by Michelle that it is not their policy to order liners for their customers and a refund of the cost of the liner was issued!!! Why did they take my money for the liner if it is not their policy to order liners for their customers? I was now left with a liner that was half removed by Vinny and no hopes of them doing the job, since when I questioned Michelle about why they took my money for a liner they never intended to order, she told me to go find another contractor. My pool was perfectly usable before the existing liner was pulled down since all it really needed was a patch on an area that had some small pin holes. It was my choice to change the entire liner, but a bad choice to choose The Pool Giant to do the job. I have now found another contractor to do the job AND ordered my own liner (made clear to me that I needed to do so by the new contractor) which came in 3 days. read more
