Animal bus
Lisa H.

We just celebrated my daughters 2nd birthday and decided to go with a pink farm theme since she LOVES animals. We rented the animal party bus from Pony Ranch Parties and I am so glad we decided on it. It was perfectly air conditioned. Enough space for the kids to go in and enjoy the animals. The animals were all so friendly and ADORABLE. There were multiple baby rabbits, a baby piglet, baby sheep, and baby goats. Both Joni and Alexa were so friendly and informative. The owner Rachel was very easy to work with as well. Everyone loved the animals. There is nothing bad I can say about it. It was so worth it to see the smile on everyone's face! Would definitely recommend!

The farm on wheels was a perfect for an easy pop up shop in front of our house. No mess or hassle!

Rachel and staff were incredibly friendly, professional and accommodating. We had to cancel the initial date of our party because the birthday girl was sick. Rachel was so understanding and was able to reschedule us. What a hit! This was the highlight of our party. The kids and adults had a blast getting to pet and play with the adorable animals. Rachel arrived early with the bus and checked in with us before leaving. We will be the first to recommend and repeat business with Pony Ranch parties.

LOVED our experience with PRP! Booking was easy and so glad the party bus was an option as rain was forecasted for the day of the party. Communication was great and detailed. Petting zoo was a hit for my son's first birthday and everyone enjoyed the sweet animals.

Adorable animals, great service and the owners were very friendly and helpful! I rented their pony for a photo session and it was such a huge hit, I will definitely use them again!

Several months ago I saw this adorable bus driving on the freeway and knew we HAD to have this for our daughter's second birthday. Pony Ranch Parties did not disappoint! The kids had the BEST time playing with and learning about all of the adorable animals. Goats, a lamb, a baby pig, and tons of bunnies kept the kiddos entertained for an hour. That was the perfect amount of time for the party guests to cycle through the bus to cuddle some animals (and enjoy the a/c in the bus on the 100* day). Everyone from 6 months to 82 years old raved about the experience! The bus was clean and cool, the animals were great, and from booking to the day of, everything was so easy and wonderful! I can't recommend this place more!!

Rachel and her helper visited us for our grandson's 2nd birthday. It was wonderful! Young lambs, goats, lots of cuddly bunnies, and a very cute little pig. Rachel set up an enclosure in our yard and our guests got to spend time inside with the animals. I'm pretty sure the adults had as much if not more fun that our 2-year old grandson! All the animals were very clean and friendly. I highly recommend the experience. Best grandson's birthday ever!!

I cannot say enough good things. We had the small petting zoo for an hour and a half during a children's party. The adults enjoyed it as much as the kids! Baby lambs, goats, bunnies, a pig . Pony Ranch Parties was incredible. They were set up and ready to go for the start of our party, kept the animal pens clean, were kind and understanding with the kiddos (which included multiple with special needs). We will absolutely be returning customers. I am SO HAPPY. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!!

Rachel and Jennifer were so great to work with! They brought about 12 animals to my house today for my daughters 3rd birthday. They were so friendly! They put everything together and brought out the animals, then cleaned up after themselves. One hour was more than enough for the kids. Definitely worth the price. The guests absolutely loved it!!!

We had a fantastic time at my daughter's 4th Birthday with Pony Ranch Parties. Rachel, the owner I think, was a pleasure to work with and she was able to answer all my (many) questions. We decided to have 2 ponies and a small petting farm. Rachel and her two assistants were fabulous about setting up their area and answering the kids questions. Having them hand walk the children on the ponies was a highlight of the afternoon. The kids not riding were able to play with a llama, goats, a bunny and some beautiful chickens (okay, they're probably not chickens but they were some sort of pretty fowl). The animals were very friendly and didn't scare even the most apprehensive of the kids. After wards (and during) they kept the whole area clean and when they left our house you couldn't even tell we had a farm there! I highly recommend them and we'll definitely be calling them again.

It was only recently we attended if we weren't away traveling as my wife loves a huge festival that entails lots of walking, live music, shopping & food. It's an ideal place at autumn time with giant pumpkin weigh-ins. This year 2025 the top pumpkin weighed 2,147 pounds! Brian Werner from Gridley California won. This year they also had a scarecrow contest, pumpkin recipe contest, lil pumpkin cupcake & youth art contests. There were also multiple stages of entertainment & the pumpkin regatta happened on Sunday. We didn't arrive here until after an hour of opening yet they had plenty of parking at 20 dollars a pop. We did spend several hours here so it was worth our time. Also they do have kids rides & activities for them! That tractor tram ride for kids only looked so fun! It is really a family friendly event! This year we bought their Mediterranean food: chicken gyro & lamb salad. Service was good. My chicken gyro however was meh. Yet my wife loved her tasty spicy lamb salad as she ate the entire entree bc she was hangry! That value on that salad was worth it to her! My wife even purchased her favorite chocolate dipping' dots bc people kept walking past us eating them! We also observed some people dressed in costumes & lots of furry friends on leashes. An ideal place for people watching too! The weather was the most perfect right after a stormy week! Not hot as the temperature was nice & cool! Last Saturday it was odd though as the internet was down so they encouraged to bring cash! Cash is King! Now if you missed this year's festival make it a point to attend next year. It usually occurs the first weekend in October. You will be highly entertained. Seriously. My wife thought her pictures she captured were exceptionally pretty bc of the beautiful pumpkin orangey colors especially against the greenery background, bright sun & blue pond. It does make you appreciate our lovely sunny California weather. We are truly blessed.

I don't know but perhaps I was influenced by someone years back telling me it's not worth coming because there's hardly anything. Boy were they wrong!! I enjoyed every minute of the GPF. Sure it's mostly for kids but I as an adult, with no kids, I still had fun going. There are plenty of food vendors, coffee vendor and a variety of desserts (ice cream, kettle corn, shaved ice). The cooling desserts are much needed on a hot day in October like it was this past weekend. Don't forget to bring a water bottle, hat & sunglasses since you'll be at the park for a couple hours. The vendors are all spread out in Elk Grove Park so there's an ample amount of walking to experience all that there was to offer at the GPF. My friend and I got there close to opening on Sunday morning which is the last day. We did hit a bit of traffic, however, traffic was moving and we weren't stuck on the street for more than 5 minutes. If you go early, you'll find good paved parking. If you go later, you'll be parking in the unpaved areas. Parking was $10 and it is all day or you can chance it and park in the neighborhoods. I was most excited to see the pumpkin regatta but we didn't get to see it because I think they started rowing the pumpkin boats slightly before 12 pm (12 pm was scheduled time). I did see them carving the pumpkins when we arrived at 10 am. There's plenty of photo ops for little kids and adults in the pumpkin village and there was also a scarecrow contest. Many of the vendors give out useable freebies which can be used during the festival or later on. There were also other small businesses that had their own booths such as arts & crafts, trinkets, hand made soaps & bath bombs etc. Plenty of things to do for the whole family of all ages. Just a note, there are 2 different events for Saturday and Sunday. The pumpkin weigh-in occurs on Saturday along with some other fruits & veggies weigh-ins. Sunday is the pumpkin regatta and the big splash after the regatta. There are also different events at the main stage and smaller stages too. Next year, I'm coming on Saturday to watch the pumpkin weigh-in. The winners for the pumpkin weigh-in were present on Sunday with their awards, and there was a final standing for all participants.

You can feed or pet the animals that live on the farm - goats, sheep, chickens, a calf, and horse. I loved that they even posted the animals' names along with fun facts. There's a cornmaze that we really enjoyed getting lost in, and a mini maze for the toddler. In the center is a giant haystack with kids' slides. Picture ops were everywhere. Looks like they have a coffeeshop in the back with seating underneath the fig trees and I heard talk of expansion. Entrance fee and prices for the pumpkins were reasonable, and they had some small local natural products for sale. On a Sunday evening, there were only about 4 other families there. Sunset was beautiful behind the cornfield. Great place for families.

It is wise to step outside your environment and, in the case of this current venture, go visit an Alpaca farm. The Menagerie Hill ranch has beautiful animals. The host was awesome and knowledgeable. We increased our knowledge of the animals and of the farm but also got to feed them. We also had the opportunities to get close and personal with them for pictures. They were all friendly and fluffy. I recommend this unique experience for all because if you do not just break your usual pattern to stop and smell the roses or to pet and feed an Alpaca, life will pass by before you know it. With Sacramento's hot weather, all the mature trees and shaded walkways make such a difference. It's also a smaller, manageable zoo, which is perfect for families with toddlers who don't want to spend an entire day walking around. Another huge perk is that parking is completely free! Even better, if you have a membership to a participating reciprocal zoo or aquarium, you can receive 50% off admission. It's a fantastic savings for families! There are also some really fun experiences beyond just walking around and seeing the animals. The zoo offers giraffe feedings, where you can get up close and feed the giraffes for an additional fee. They also have animal presentations, educational experiences, and special animal encounters. For little ones, there's a carousel, zoo train, and playground, which are great additions to the day. One of the coolest surprises was seeing the Himalayan monal, a colorful bird that has been associated with the inspiration for Kevin from Disney Pixar's Up! If your kids love the movie, it's such a fun connection to point out. The bird's beautiful, vibrant feathers make it especially interesting to see in person. I also love that the zoo offers seasonal attractions and special events, giving families even more reasons to visit. Overall, the Sacramento Zoo is charming, family-friendly, and easy to navigate. Between the beautiful shaded grounds, animal encounters, activities for kids, reciprocal membership discounts, and free parking, it's definitely worth visiting. Most of the animals were out which was nice and we got really up close with Greg the rhino and the Lion which was really cool. We missed the window for the giraffe feeding but that would have been cool to do. The only thing that I wish was free was the carousel but otherwise, I think it's a good place to spend with your toddler for an afternoon.
