A few weeks ago, we arrived to launch our boat, and there was no one in the office to collect the launch fee. Rather than leaving without paying, we left a $20 bill with a note. The launch fee is $12, and when we called the next day, we were told we had an $8 credit. Today, we returned, paid our launch fee, and asked to use our $8 credit. Unfortunately, the lady manager was incredibly rude--not only to us, but also to the employee working in the office. The tone, attitude, and overall way the situation was handled were completely unnecessary. We always try to do the right thing, and that's exactly what we did by paying even when no one was there. It's disappointing to be treated with such disrespect after making the effort to be honest. I hope Harbor Bay Marina takes customer service more seriously because no customer--or employee--deserves to be treated that way.

A guy passing by said he used live minnow the other day, and that's what they like, so maybe we'll try that soon. They do sell bait and minnow here. It was $3.49 for a dozen live minnow and $6.49 for a bag of frozen shad. $8 per person. $1 per additional rod. Bathrooms are pretty clean. The fishing barge is located at the end of the pier. Enter through the main store. There's an inside fishing area in the barge with a rectangular hole where you drop your line in. I didn't go there because there are people in there smoking up a storm. We fished outside at the end of the barge facing the lake. Be careful if you choose this spot because you can get your line snagged very easily, especially on the right side. 3 stars for paying $8 and no fish and also for losing 3 lures from snags.

I had so much fun this weekend! This is the second time I have tried canoeing. At first I was a…read morelittle nervous about it, and it dissapeared after a while. The river was so calm and peaceful. We took our time and really enjoyed the luxury to just be. We saw turtles sunbathing, birds, a bobcat, and had a picnic on the boat ;-) It was a lovely experience. Charles took us to the river and picked us up. He is great; super cool guy and I can tell he knows his stuff! That made me feel confortable with canoeing. Looking forward to our next outing!

We were a crew of 4 flight attendants on a long layover in search of a day adventure. The Trinity River did not disappoint. The water level was high and a little swift at times which we enjoyed. Prepare to see many different birds and we had quite a few fish jump near our canoe. The water was just fine...we did not fear for our lives...the water was clean and what you would expect in a large city. Although you are in Dallas it seems more like a remote river out west at times. Please take heart in our review....we have traveled to every state in the country and tubed,whitewater rafted or gone canoeing in almost all of them if available. And I don't blame them for not letting you out of their sight with their boat. We took the sunset sail. I think the half day sail or full day sail would be perfect activity for our large family. It may be a little on the pricey side for some, but the crew are great, the boat is yar and you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for a dinner cruise - I suggest a nicer alternative - take an afternoon or sunset sail and then go to dinner at one of the fabulous places on the lake. And finally... if you are going sailing in the spring - whether in Florida or Texas - pack your warm clothes and remember that it is going to be cooler on the water.
