Kampen course is a flashy deep-rough waste bunker Pete Dye design with challenging sight lines that force shot placement. Spray the driver at your peril!

Golf: Very nice, scenic, interesting course, but being a public facility, not in the best…read morecondition. Lots of unfilled fairway divots, ball marks on the greens that aren't being repaired. Golf carts are electric, but have way too many ads appearing on the GPS screen. Annoying. Green fees are fair and they offer a small senior discount during the week. Restaurant: Food is really very good. Service varies from good to slow, depending on the size of the crowd. Breakfasts are excellent. The bar, unfortunately, only carries 2 brands of scotch, neither of which is very good. But they do have a large variety of beers, and other drinks. Accommodations: This is where I was extremely disappointed. The cottage (Cottage C) claimed to have 2 queen beds in each of the 4 rooms. That's quite an exaggeration, if not an outright lie. The beds are singles (and small singles, at that). Very uncomfortable sleeping conditions. If you can get the cottage with the king bed, do so, otherwise, skip the trip.

I've played here twice now, the last being a few months ago. Tee boxes, fairways, rough, approaches and greens were in beautiful shape even with the deluge of rain we had. The clubhouse, carts and cart paths are pretty basic and don't match up to the same quality of the course, but I'm there to play the links. It's the kind of place where you are led through and rarely see the other holes while you are on your hole...however, we did see the same deer a few times, just wandering around! If you enjoy a great course, this place is for you!
