Seriously, even though they have upgraded the course, their overall service is horrendous. It started with unloading the car and getting no help with bags or obtaining a cart. No one to be found. Upon check-in, the lazy, unfriendly cashier at check-in, barely looked up from her phone to provide any type of assistance. The only thing I got was "Pompano"? I said, yes I'm here in Pompano. She said no are you a resident of Pompano and I said no I live elsewhere in the county. She said $65 And then went back to her phone. After a couple of minutes, she realized that she hadn't pushed a button to activate the credit card machine. Are you kidding me!? Now we get out on the course and no beverage cart, no ranger and ridiculously slow play. When we finally called for beverage service, we were told to place our order online and someone would be out. When the beverage cart attendant showed up, she didn't have our order, was not friendly and argued about our order and whether it was even placed. We had to produce evidence that it was placed, and that she simply had not received it as of yet. Did I mention that she was rude?! Needless to say, we never saw her again. Upon leaving, again, no one to clean clubs and no one to help us with our bags. The only good part of the day was going to the restaurant that is not owned by the city, Galuppi's and they took great care of us. Find another place to play because this place clearly doesn't have their act together nor do they understand the basics of customer service. If I were in business today and had any control of this organization, I would fire everyone in charge! read more

The "Pines" is a high quality golf course, municipal or not. The amenities are severely lacking though. I think with the right management-including firing the unfriendly women at the cashier and replacing with it a self service kiosk, this place could be a regional draw. read more

I played the Palms. The fairways are in really rough shape; bare, weed clumps, ugly. One employee told me everyone takes one club length relief in the fairways! The bunkers and greens, though, are pretty good. If you're a serious golfer, and prefer to walk, the Palm Beach County courses are much nicer, and about the same $$$ (except for Osprey). The Pines looks much nicer, but no walking, which is odd for a Muni. read more

Pompano beach golf course - pines course Speedy check in, starter and rangers loaded up clubs efficiently. Once up the starter called us up to the 1st tee box and off we went. Tee boxes were well maintained, fairways were dry considering it poured for like 3 days straight. Greens were tight and carpet like. The yardage was pretty much spot on. Course layout (pines course) was nice with wide fairways. The rangers were lurking like bullsharks on the 3rd reef outside of port Everglades yet no issues other than pleasant gestures (our group completed the round in 4hr 11min. I'd definitely recommend the pines course. I'd definitely play it again. Bar on 19th hole looked quality full service stocked liquor. Round price $65 noon on a Sunday. read more

I've been to the range here a couple times but was able to finally play the course recently with my brother and sister in law. I have to say I was impressed. The course is in pretty good shape and the lay out is fun, good balance of par 3's, 4's, and 5's. For a municipal course, what you get for the price is incredible. The demographic of players here is definitely on the older side, and a lot of people hang out near the clubhouse because of the bar, tv's, and stage. There's 2 courses and we played the Pine course. I think we ended up paying 30 something dollars (including the bucket) for 18 holes which was really impressive. If you're looking for a bang for your buck type course in the area, I recommend you check it out! read more

By far the worst course I have EVER been to. Construction everywhere , sand everywhere, weeds everywhere. They should be paying you to play here... and I'm a guy with extremely low standards. The Greens roll slower than a grandma with one leg and an artificial hip. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. I set a tee time online for 1:31pm, 4 people, 9 holes, Palms course, so they had all my information in their system upon my arrival. I show up 20 minutes early with my family to give us plenty of time to load up the carts and pay for golf. My dad goes into the shop to pay; we go to the start of the course and the attendant asks where our 4th slip is for 4 players. My dad says this all they gave him, so he has to go back to the shop. Turns out they charged him 3 people for 18 holes instead. By this point, we're 10 minutes past our tee time and feel rushed to play. We quickly get through the first hole, sandwiched between two other groups trying to play. The whole round of golf was rushed. Finally, on Hole 2, we relax a bit and decide we'd get a drink. They have a sticker on each golf cart saying something to the effect of "Want something from the beverage cart? Call or text this number with your cart number, what course and hole you're on, and your order, and we'll be on our way!" So I text while on Hole 2 at 2:11pm. By 2:48pm, no sign of our drinks, so I call them. He asks what hole we're on and I say 5. He says he'll send the cart right over. By hole 8, it's 3:30 and someone finally texts and says they're coming. Mind you, we're only playing 9 holes. Needless to say, the beverage cart never made it. What in the world?!? Despite playing here a couple of times a year, I'm NEVER PLAYING THIS COURSE AGAIN. read more

The lady who works inside the windowed area of the pro shop and sells range tokens and tee times is one of the most miserable, rude, and unhelpful employees I have ever had the experience of dealing with ever, at any business, in my life. She sours the experience from the start and is always there. The course itself has a good layout but is regularly in mediocre condition with very bad greens. The only redeeming factor is the practice facilities are okay, with a cheap price for balls. Overall this course is not good or a good experience. I do however use the range often because it's close and cheap. read more

Robin is the absolute best cart girl at any course we've played at. She got injured on the job about two months ago and Grant or management have not contacted her at all. She is the sweetest person and nobody would know all the health stuff she's been dealing with. Surgery, hospital stays. Yet, she always shows up with the best attitude and laugh. We miss her! Terrible. Terrible everything. They should just shit it down. The greens may as well be converted to bunkers, it's like putting on the beach. And the cart gps system tells you you're in a restricted area and turns off your cart in the middle of the fairway. It makes no sense and wastes a ton of time. I live one block from this course and I have attempted to play it 4 times now and each time I have been turned away and absolutely turned off by both maddening exclusionary rules and a complicated starting process that belongs in east Berlin. Until significant changes are made to this golf course in both administration and acceptance, I will not return and continue to drive around this course to get to any other course. This is the DMV of golf courses mixed with judge Smails from caddy shack. I'm sure the course is nice but I've only ever seen it from a distance so I really can't tell you expertly. read more

I have played 100's of golf courses around the country. To the point, if Greg Norman saw the overall condition of this course, he would pull his name off this course. The fairways are all tight lies, with many areas in need of turf. The greens are some of the worst I have seen. Once again the layout is very good. The rating reflects the overall "condition". Therefore the cost to play this course based on condition in highly overpriced. The staff is absolutely beyond reproach. Their customer service is some of the best I have ever experienced country wide and the addition of the new carts with gps is a great addition. The city should cut the cord with the current superintendent of the course, period and engage with a great landscaper that can deliver a much better product to the golfing community. This review is as objective as it gets. I currently am a member of the men's golf league every Wednesday. In addition I waited 1 year before sharing this. The condition of the course continues to be unsatisfactory. read more

Visiting Pompano Beach this week and decided to play 9 holes on the Palms course. Staff were great and got us going quickly. Rented clubs were fine. Cart has GPS and worked well. Fairways are in good condition, rough not too rough. Greens were recently sanded so a bit rough and slow (hence 4 stars instead of 5). A nice course! read more

I would give it -5 stars if I had the chance we had a teatime at 4:40 we were promised to play 18 holes and ended up playing three we were followed since we've got onto the cart they overcharged me even though I was a pompano residence. I've been to multiple golf courses in my life but never have I been treated this poorly and had this horrible of customer service. We got stuck from a curb, the guy in the shop told us that there's only puddles on the first hole, but every single hole was either mushy or knee, deep wet puddles, and water the carpets were all messed up we almost tipped because of how poorly the fairways are took in there is lines of tire marks like a burnout I will be attempting to get a refund tomorrow we weren't allowed to play the holes we wanted. We barely I mean barely played four holes. it looks like mountains of dirt buildup on certain holes. I will never ever come back here. read more

Me myself am not crazy about golf, but if you want to have fun this is the place to come. The golf course is beautiful and low price.

It's a 36 hole public course. I like it, always have. They've invested in it over the years to make it bigger and better. The Pines course is 7200 yards and is the tougher of the two courses. The Palms is 6500 yards and is shorter, but still has some nice challenges to it. The rates are always good, but exceptional during the summer months. You can ride 18 holes after 4pm (you'll get all 18 in) and it's $21! Plus, I reviewed previously, it has Galuppi's attached to the clubhouse for some food and libations. Don't ignore it because it's a municipal, the place is nicer than most courses around. read more

The new Norman course is really nice... I've played it twice since the redesign. Unfortunately, you can already tell that it will not be maintained properly as there are already dead/ dry spots popping up. Aside from that, the customer service here is the worst I've ever encountered at a golf course. To start off, I was told that if I wanted to check in for my 2:00 tee time, I had to wait until 2pm or I wouldn't be able to get the twilight rate. After leaving and then coming back at 2pm to check in, I waited behind two elderly men who were joking and bs-ing with the lady behind the glass for what felt like 15 minutes. My entire family works in the golf industry and they would be ashamed if any of the courses they managed were run this poorly. Ideally, they hire real golf people to work in the pro shop and make fewer tee times at a slightly higher rate. They are running a four star course like it's a muni dog track... won't be long before it is. read more

This municipal course has two courses, the Palms and the Greg Norman Signature Pines. My group chose the Palms course over the Pines course because we were told by the course that the Pines was just aerated last week. We believed the Palms would be in better condition. I think we're mistaken on that. The fairways have lot's of weeds and places without weeds have unrepaired divots. The greens had been aerated and sanded perhaps a month ago but many were burned out and patchy. The water protecting hole #8 smelled so bad you had to hold your breath to putt and it looked like green slime. If you're unlucky enough to fall into it, you'll probably glow for several days and likely be chosen at random by casting agents to work as aliens in low-budget movies. HOWEVER, the sand in the bunkers was nice, fluffy and easy to hit out of. The starter is also a very entertaining gentleman and it was tres cool to watch the Goodyear blimp take off from the adjacent airport. That said, golf wisely, my friends. read more

C'mon man, they've spent all their time, $$$ and efforts on the Pines course and done nothing with the Palms course. I have found previous negative reviews of the driving range facilities to be out of date and misleading. The driving range is the best on a public golf course that I ever seen over a span of some 60 plus years of golf and travel. You hit off grass, though mats are available for special conditions. The have an excellent, large practice bunker with soft sand next to green that can also be used for pitching and chipping. There is a separate putting green in good shape. Tokens are available from a very pleasant cashier in a separate area of the golf shop. Two tokens for $6 for 57 balls. The token machine is next to the cart barn on the way to the range. So you can buy extra tokens and return anytime without having to stop at the shop. The two times I stopped by the range it was very busy but I had to wait only a few minutes for a spot. Golf lessons are available. It's located just off US 1 very close to all the beach resorts in the area. read more

Played 8.9.17 for the first time here. Fun layout for a muni nothing spectacular typical tee to green conditions with plenty of bare spots & 27 different types of grass in the fairway. On the other hand, you must go to HomeDepot first and purchase some in indoor/ outdoor carpet and practice you putting. Perfect grass for a backyard!! For a golf course slower than masalas. So if your just there to practice it's worth $19 to play the Palm after 4pm. Otherwise spend the money at Galuppi's on drinks. My HC 8. read more

My son came in from 600 miles away to play south Florida's finest golf courses. Unfortunately for us, we picked this dump. The greens were hard as concrete and the staff was extremely rude. We played until dusk and one of the staff clowns came to us and threatened to call the police if we didn't get off the course. STAY AWAY from these &*^%&^%. I just left a review for the restaurant bar establishment on these premises (Galuppi's). That review is related to the gold course. A group of us regularly golf here on Saturday. Today a large (may be 70 people for a work outing) group took over the Palms. Participants had music blaring from their golf carts, at the turn a skimpily dressed loud women poured hard alcohol cocktails from underneath a tent that was blaring music and another loud women drove around in a golf cart with a large cooler strapped to the back making sure all where having fun and their cocktails were full. It's not surprising that a fist fight broke out in the restaurant bar. I'm appalled that a public golf course would allow such disrespectful and rowdy behavior on the course. We will take this into consideration when making our next tee time. As others have commented this course is in rough shape. read more

I play at about 100 rounds of golf at private clubs and found this course to be very acceptable. We played the Palms course. It plays long with long par 5s but short par 3s. It has been in quite good condition for the two successive Decembers. Some holes are very challenging. Most of the greens are not large. The restaurant has become a must visit for us as the Italian food is as good as anywhere in the area. read more

Just became my wife and I new members. Already played the Greg Norman course: Great deseing and in fairly good shape. That kind of course who let you play and have fun. We like it PEOPLE WORKING THERE ARE VERY PLEASANT AND DO A GOOD JOB. Bar and patio area have great view and price very affordable. Meanwhile the short game practice facilitees (except the putting grenn near hole #1) are not acceptable and absolutely do not fit with the quality of the whole place. This portion should be completely redone, I do not understand how come this portion has not been redone at the same time than the redeseigning of the Pine course by Greg Norman.
