I didn't end up buying anything on this trip but I was in a (pleasant) visual overload here. They have very cute curated sections with themes - not all of them appealed (no thanks on sports, Taylor Swift, or mah jongg) but still a super cute layout with lots of interesting, small, different items. This store is great for gifts especially if you know someone who is really into a current 'thing' (like mah jongg, or they had a rack of diet coke merch which isn't for me, but super cute). We even went into the kids' section and were admiring the onesies and squishy toys. I'd say we spent over 30 minutes wandering here even though the store isn't huge. There are just so many different interesting items - like a condensed and specific part of Home Goods? I'm now curious if the Wish in Happy Canyon is exactly the same or has a slightly different assortment.

However, I thought I should say this. To start, this gift shop is absolutely adorable and has so many options. However, both times I have gone, the older woman that works there stands right behind me and watches me shop. The first time, I let it go because I understand I have tattoos up my arm and in this neighborhood that might not be common. But this time, I came with my husband who has gauges, and she stood right behind us and stared at us as we shopped again and it really made me uncomfortable. There were multiple people in the store and it felt as if she assumed we were stealing. Did not feel like she tried to hide it at all. The first time I was there I spent like 120 dollars and this time about 90. It really sucks because I like this shop but I don't appreciate being followed around.

The sweet girl gave me great suggestions, pointed out her favorite pieces and spent time chatting with me. D = Decent pricing - especially for the quality! Although some of the clothing options can be pretty pricey, they are durable, long lasting and worth the price tag. Plus there are constant sales happening - which is always nice. The products they carry are one-of-a-kind, constantly changing items perfect for gift giving or keeping for yourself. What takes this store to another level is that profits from the store support environmental causes like endangered primates. (This explains the portrait of Jane Goodall behind the cashier station.) Another unusual thing sponsored by the store is an every-so-often evening of music and drinking. They fly in an entertainer from Las Vegas, open up a bar and have a great time with patrons on their mailing list... just because. And of course, lots of Colorado-themed pieces, our favourite! The owner, Lauren, was super friendly and knowledgeable about all the artists she supports in her store, with fun anecdotes about the artists themselves or how pieces were developed. My favourites were block prints by an artist named Jini Kimchi and sculptures made from home-grown cordyceps spores (I forget the artist's name but will add here later). It's awesome that this store makes art so accessible, and what a great go-to for gifts!
