Life savers. I was 50mi from my car on a hundred mile training ride when my shifter cable snapped. Thankfully, this shop was nearby and had just opened, but it was a Saturday morning and they could have easily told me they were too busy but instead they replaced my cable while I sat next door at the coffee shop. We took our bikes to be cleaned up and made good to ride. They did an amazing job of keeping the cost down but did everything we asked.

I stopped in and worked with Jesse and he was super kind, attentive, and his bicycle knowledge was amazing! I came in looking for a used bicycle as I'm not a competitive cyclist to say the least. To be fair, they didn't have many used bikes, but I was able to leave with one. I also had my son with me and he was very nice to him as well. The day we visited the shop it was closed for some reason. Despite that, we were looking in the window at several bikes when a young man came out and asked if he could help. Despite being busy, he took the time to answer several questions and give my wife some good advice. As he had no obligation to come outside, he took the time and was very kind and helpful. Hey there everyone, this one's not about food, for once LOL, but I had to share my experience here. I went in very positive about having a bike shop so close to where we live so I could have my sons bike upgraded and tightened up for his birthday. Others suggested a few places and I decided to try this once b/c of the distance of the others 30-45 min trip one way. Lakeland was the closest. My first visit to drop my son's bike off went well, I felt they were attentive and understanding of what I wanted. When I returned to pick the bike up I was hit with a wave of an exact opposite experience. When I walked in there was one person talking with a couple looking to buy a bike & there were 3 store employees behind the counter where they fix the bikes. There was already one customer standing there when I arrived and we stood there for what seemed like ever, you know doing that look back and forth with another customer to acknowledge the wait, but it was at least 8 mins with no one coming to ask us if we needed help. Finally someone came from the back very disheveled in the way they were acting towards helping us, like they were sure what to do. He helped the customer in front of me and then while they looked at options for what they wanted he came to me I told him I was there to pick up my sons bike and it took a few for him to locate my info and the bike. Then when he brought it out I saw that the grips were not changed. We were switching them to orange for aesthetic's. Then I find out after asking 2 employees the first time I was there, the clerk and the mechanic to order the grips in Orange, neither one ordered them and my sons grips were still the torn piece of grip that was originally there. Asked if they had any grips in stock and they did not, asked if he had a used one and they did, but it was very worn and did not match the other one. Then I get home to adjust the brakes and the bolt for the tensioner was so now my son can't even ride it until I get him a new one. It's a small part and I did not notice till I got home. So now my son received a bike he could not even ride b/c of the missing nut and I had to tell him I would order the grips and replace them when they came in. For me this was a very underwhelming experience and this place needs to learn customer service practices and have a recheck system in place for things like nuts and bolts before giving a bike back to a customer. For a bit of positivity the 3 stars I gave and felt it justified it, b/c they did do a good job on the other work requested. The crankshaft was nice and tight, the new tires were really nice and had lot of grip including the side and the chain was tightened up very nicely. So those 3 things were completed well. Needless to say next time I will go to where others have suggested to me as one even said not to come here, but I thought oh I'll give them a try myself as maybe that was just a one off experience, guess not!!! We visited The Bike Shop last week to shop for a basic men's cruiser bike. I needed one that was y'all enough for me at 6ft 2in and during COVID-19, bikes are hard to find. I didn't want to spend a lot but my choices were extremely limited. Jacob S. Greeted us and showed us the Sun brand Boardwalk Cruiser bike, answered all of our questions and he let me try it out in the parking lot. I really liked the bike as it was tall enough, basic with peddle brakes like I want and it is pretty light. At $439, this was more than I wanted to spend so I held off on buying. I visited another bike shop and rode another brand that was about $100 less expensive. The brand was rated better but it wasn't as comfortable and didn't feel as quality as the Sun bike. We went back to the Bike Shop two days later and sadly Jacob wasn't there but the bike was still there. I ride the bike once more and bought it. I also bought a basket that they installed for me. Today I rode the bike around my neighborhood and I love this bike just as I thought and hoped. Thank you Jacob. read more

Well for starters I was quoted a price for gear service and parts at $90, upon receipt of my bicycle the price jumped to $156. I also brought in a clean bike and it was returned covered in greasy hand prints and overflow grease drops all over the frame, and now after testing riding the bike at home, it appears as if the gear tune up wasn't even performed. I will be going elsewhere for my future Bicycle repairs and purchases. This was extremely disappointing. read more

So I went into the bike shop a few days ago to take a look around. I saw specifically one worker that did not appear to be doing anything at all. At first, he greeted me with a hello and that was the only word out of his mouth until I left. His coworkers were very helpful and he seemed to be enjoying his leisure on the clock by staring out of the window the whole time I was there. When I asked him a question, he was completely spaced out and didn't even realize I was speaking to him. I felt so bad watching his coworkers pick up his slack. He was a little shorter with brownish hair. I really hope his coworkers get a raise or he at least starts picking up his own slack instead of putting it on others. Truly disrespectful. read more

Stopped by today to check about getting the rear wheel bearings serviced or the parts to do the service myself on a "free" bike I picked up a few days ago. I thought if I could get the parts for $25. it would be worth the effort. I was greeted at the counter by a very helpful Englishman named Stewart. I described the problem and before I finished my description of the problem, he diagnosed failed wheel bearings. and said the parts cost would be less than $20. He then proceeded to pull the wheel apart and fix it while I waited. I was supposed to finish the wheel assembly myself, but he said it was easier if he just put it all back together. I ended up buying a couple of tubes and it was still under $30.00 out the door. Prices were very good, and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend the shop for service, and they had a nice selection of new bikes, and accessories on the sales floor. read more

I'll give one star for the person at the front counter who was very professional.....but he told me that my flat would cost around $20!!!! By the time I returned the next day to pick up my tire, he began trying to explain that they want to make sure I get a quality repair; so without asking my permission, all these extra things were added, mostly sight unseen and I'm a woman of color.... my bill suddenly turned into $55....WTF! The Bike Shop of Winter Haven is great! My husband has been wanting to get bikes for years, but I didn't want to spend the money. I finally caved, and we drove an hour and a half to this shop because it came highly recommended from a friend. When we walked in, Chris greeted us immediately, and began helping us find the types of bikes we needed. She was very helpful and patient with us, considering we are brand new to cycling. Her and Mat had us do a few test rides out back, made the necessary adjustments, and started helping us pick out all the accessories we didn't know we needed (I learned after a few test rides why the padded spandex are so important!). I'm a little hesitant to write this next part, because I don't think this is a standard service you should come to expect (I certainly didn't), but when The Bike Shop didn't have the right size bike for me, the owner, Stewart, went to his home and lended me his extra bike until they could get mine ordered. Talk about customer service!!! While my husband and I took turns trying on shorts, gloves, and getting everything we needed, Mat walked us through all of the mechanics and maintenance of our bikes, sharing valuable experience from his many years of cycling. Needless to say, we are so glad that we made the trip to The Bike Shop of Winter Haven. In total we were for about three hours, and the staff didn't show an ounce of frustration with all of our newbie questions. We will definitely be back soon! read more

My wife wrote a review of The Bike Shop of Winter Haven a few weeks ago, and after our second visit today, I felt the need to write a review of my own. During our last visit, TBS had to order my wife's bike. It came in several weeks earlier than promised, which was a nice surprise. As soon as we walked in today, Kris greeted us and began putting the accessories on the new bike. After the test ride, she gave my wife some much needed advice on stopping and starting (she likes to run into things frequently). Meanwhile, Tristan began doing the 30-day maintenance on my bike. He was extremely polite and helpful. I honestly can't imagine a bike shop with better staff. We had visited a shop in Lake Mary a few weeks back, and were ignored for the 10 minutes we were there. The team at TBS welcomes each and every customer that comes in immediately. What also impressed me is that the shop owner is also always there, which I'm sure increases staff morale and shows good leadership. It's sucks that we live so far from this shop, otherwise we would participate in the group rides. If you are local, go spend some time with these people- you'll be glad you did! read more

I went in looking for a bike box to ship some paintings and they had one in the back, which they gave to me for free! I took pics of some vintage bikes I thought my boyfriend would be interested in. Bought another Cannondale bike here in August of 2014, I was treated well and got a good deal on the bike. People there are very helpful.

I went in to look at a second hand bike that my husband saw, I didn't really like that bike but while I browsed the store, three different people offered to help me. I told the salesman, Chris what I was looking for and he showed me one in the back that they had just gotten in, it was exactly what I wanted and I felt the price was reasonable We went ahead and paid for it but they kept it until the next day to clean it up and tune it up and he threw in a water bottle holder. I didn't do a test ride but they guarantee their bikes for 30 days. We went riding a couple of days later and I absolutely love my bike. I have been a friend of the bike shop for years. They have always done professional, top quality mechanic work. Their first concern is always safety, they know bicycles , they know what goes wrong with them, and they know what to do to keep me safe and trouble free. Thanks guys for keeping me safe for ten years now. . My passion is MTBing, it is how I stay healthy. and it has allowed me to make many good friends. There are several weekly road rides that leave from the shop, Most Sundays at 8:00 AM we (MTB) will meet in the parking lot, car pool together to Carter Road/ Joyce Harp park , or Alafia, or Santos, or Balm-Boyette.. The new owner has really worked hard to create a customer centric atmosphere. Judging by the reviews they are not perfect, but it saddens me to see the obvious narcissistic - takers who think cheap means quality write bad reviews.
