LOVE Riverview Cabins & Canoes!…read more Hubby & I do a weekend get away to the Arkansas mountains at least once a year & this last time we decided to stay here! We have stayed many places & we usually stay at Petit Jean but we decided to check out Riverview Cabins & Canoes & it turned out to be the best trip to the Arkansas mountains we have ever had. We rented the small cabin for 2 with the hot tub. It was so adorable! The bed was super comfy & the hot tub was amazballs. It was perfect for 2, very romantic & had everything we needed. The first night it rained & we hung out & made veal meatballs. So yummy! We loved the little gas stove & the giant shower. There was also a cute little fireplace & bear rug! So adorable. The hiking in the woods was cool, the canoeing & river was beautiful & the riding stables were well kept. The whole property was very nice. All the Cabins were picture perfect. There are a couple different canoeing trips you can take & you can hike & ride the trails. There is a little town near by you can go have lunch too, we checked that out, it was very cool with some very cool old buildings & a couple fun lunch spots. It is out in BFE, Walmart, grocery stores & liquor stores are like an hours drive away so bring everything you need b4 you get there. The lady that works the check in was very sweet & very kind to us. The clocks sprang forward (daylight saving time) & we overslept the last day bc our bed was that comfy! I called her & she was very cool about it & gave us an extra hour to check out. That was almost 3 months ago & we are still talking about what a great time we had there :)) We can't wait to go back! Highly highly recommend.

Queen Wilhelmina State Park - Beautiful sunset to watch from the top

Queen Wilhelmina State Park is located on Rich Mountain, Arkansas' second highest peak. We stayed…read morenearby in an Air BnB and came up to hike one day and another time to watch the sunset. Both activities did not disappoint. There are 41 campsites along with picnic areas and 4 hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels. The trails are: Lover's Leap Trail, Reservoir Trail, Spring Trail and the Quachita National Hiking Trail (National Recreation Trail). There is an old train engine to look at. I wonder how in the heck did they get that up there? There is a playground and small train tracks that appears to be for fun kiddie train rides in the summer months. Several lookout areas in the park. The Lover's Leap lookout area near the lodge has two viewing scopes (bring two quarters to use). Be careful, the one on the right has a stain near the eyepiece and you can't see out of it. Of course I only had two quarters and unfortunately put it into that viewer. This area is so beautiful with scenic views anywhere you look.

Queen Wilhelmina State Park - I've never been on a trail where you had to cross rail road tracks. Couldn't resist recreating the damsel in distress.

Belle Starr Camp Site at #C 12 had plenty of lake view coverage, trees, and a cement slab with a walled patio for outside eating. We spent this visit with friends and met other fellow nice campers too. There was so many things we did. This was definitely too much to take in. Perfect weather. Perfect views. Have a great time!!

It was a spiritual experience to be visited by a red cardinal, also fondly known as the "redbird"…read moreeach day. My husband and I took a road-trip across the Southwest and shared in a multitude of adventures to and from. One stop on the leg of our travels included a visit to Lake Eufaula. It is one of the largest man made lakes in the nation and it offered a quiet and serene respite. We chose to rent a cabin with a stunning lake view. The treehouse style residence came with a park pass for recreational use. We were reminded by the locals to bring "deep woods" when visiting the area. We purchased the "Off" to keep mosquitos and chiggers as suggested "off"! Part of this trip was business and part of it was pleasure, but the biggest piece was a chance to have some healing time to grieve the loss of my mom. Grief is a long and winding road that takes time to manuever and never quite ends. I found some comfort in staying in such a peaceful place. And, I truly believe my mom was that redbird that visited daily during our stay at Lake Eufaula. #LakeEufaula #ManMade #DeepWoods #RedBird
