I would say that I'm not used to paying extra for ahi and salmon, as those are typically what I think of as the standard for poke bowls - but here they do charge an extra $1 for each. Checked out this poke place randomly. Decor is really open and relaxed for hanging out. They have k pop playing on the screens. Poke was really good and they have a variety of toppings. My favorite has to be Kim chi which the first time I've had in a poke bowl, it was great. They didn't charge for avocado either which was a first for me. Plenty of sauce options, I chose eel sauce and spicy mayo. And then for the crunchy part I got fried onions. When you first order they ask you what you want for your base, I chose brown rice. And after choosing your protein they ask if you want "the basics" where they toss your protein of choice in sesame oil, soy sauce, cilantro, and red onions. Both of the employees I interacted with were so kind and offered great service and helped me out since it was my first time coming. In the past few years, a food trend has been developed in US including acai bowls, sushi burritos, poke bowls by environmental group who enjoy customizing quick and healthy fusion meals. The Poke (pronounced poh-kay) trend with its root in Hawaii is starting to expand in Southwest Florida! The dish traditionally makes with cubed pieces of tuna, salmon, octopus or other seafood mixed with soy sauce, seaweed, sesame oil and other ingredients serve over atop of white rice. The fish and rice then topped with anything from kale, corns, ginger, pineapple, mango, to avocado and frizzled with sauces to create a poke bowl. When Pokebowls opens about two months ago, it is on my radar screen on my to-try-list. It is located in US 41 on a strip mall. Look for the sign "Bingo", it is on the other end of Bingo Hall. There is more than adequate parking space available in front of the restaurant. Pokebowls is operated by a husband and wife team. It is clean and simply decorated. They are planning to add more wall artifacts in addition their two wall mounted TVs. Their menu is limited to poke bowls with sides and drinks. We've tasted, their signature Classic Bowl, California Bowl, create you own Tofu Bowl and Ahi Tuna Bowl, Takoyaki with Thai Boba Tea and Stella Artois. First the ingredients are freshly made. You can see they slide the pineapple, mango, avocado, while other workers prepping your bowl! Sushi rice is kept in a rice cooker and they are soft and warm! My kind of rice! When the tuna is mixed with sauces, the juxtaposition of cold tuna on warm sushi rice make my mouth watering! Or may be that furikake, the rice seasoning sprinkled on top of cooked rice! Their signature bowls has common well-liked toppings from avocado, cucumber, kani, masago, seaweed salad, edamame, radish, ginger, corn, carrot, and others. Next, come the dressing. Oh well, we've tried Miss Island (a creamy ginger Soy), Miso Satay(Miso peanut) and Unagi Tahini (Sesame Eel). Wait, one more garnish like coconut flake, sliced almond, cashew, ginger and others. Now you are ready for that Poke (poh-kay) bowl! The Thai Boba Milk Tea is delicious. The Takoyaki or diced Octopus buff is amazing. Be warned, it will take about 10 minutes to make this street snack from scratch. It may come as you are half way through your Poke Bowl. We've Takoyaki twice in two visits! I requested the Takoyaki cooked a little longer on the second visit as that is my personal temperature preference! The place is clean and the staff is super friendly. Will we be back? I love their variety of toppings and all the fresh veggies,fish,meet and other protein options. You can combine your own poke bowl any way you wish. It is a perfect restaurant if you fallow Keto or paleo diet too. They offer zucchini pasta!!! But there are other gluten free and even vegan options too. My favorite is the Ahi tuna and the soba noodles-they aren't easy to find elsewhere. Their kimchi is amazing-and I'm saying that after I already had homemade kimchi a few times by friend's Korean Grandmother. The kimchi from Poke Bowl Cafe is perfect! But you can pick from,mango,pinapple,cilantro,jalapeños,spicy cucumbers and many others.
