Poke bowl

Affordable poke in a good spot in st Pete. This is a go to for locals. When I got there there were only 1 other person in line ahead of me. When I got up to order the employee was very nice to me and ask me what I wanted. This place is like chipotle for poke! I got spicy salmon and spicy tuna which was delicious. They also have free water and nice seating. One thing I will say is to bring cash because the credit card fee is a bit expensive but that's no one's fault. Besides that I had a great experience. The inside is clean and the music isn't too loud. This is my number one when it comes to poke bowls. I've been here twice already!

Stopped by for a poke bowl and was pleasantly surprised at how fresh the food was, as well as how good their boba teas are. Some toppings that are free at other places are extras here, but the sauces and toppings were all very good. Packaging is eco friendly, which is nice to see, and the service was great. The mango green tea boba was exceptional. Not too sweet or tart, and a really nice cup. Small strip mall exterior with a great little spot.

Such an amazing poke place! They are located in a small strip mall, so the parking situation is really easy with about 20 parking spots (usually never more than 3-5 cars parked there). The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous! All of their ingredients are insanely fresh, and I love all their different sauce choices. I wish the seaweed salad didn't cost extra, but oh well! I look forward to this being a regular place of mine.

Yum! I love Poke' and am so glad we found this place. Service was friendly, the food fresh and the dining area very clean. I would highly recommend. And grab a Thai iced tea while you are there. So good!

I've been to a few poke places in Tampa now and have been disappointed with the quality of their sushi but this location offered better quality and nice big cuts. The ingredients were fresh and they cut your avocado fresh so it's not just sitting out there for a while. The brown rice was cooked perfectly and the portion sizes are generous. This is so far my favorite poke place so far.

Almost as yummy as the yummy sauce they offer! Affordable poke spot near Pinellas Park with plentiful toppings. Each bowl is priced depending on the protein and then all topping are included except avocado masago. They also have a selection of smoothies or iced teas for purchase. Definitely try here- you won't regret it!

I love poke bowls, and when my friend and I knew we were going to be in this area around lunch time, it was a no-brainer to try Poke Island. Like most of the recent poke places to spring up, you walk down the row in front of a glass counter, telling the person making your bowl if you want rice or salad as a base, then picking your protein, then the add-ons to the bowl like vegetables, avocado, crunchy onions, etc. Their food was good, and I did enjoy my bowl, but it was disappointing that some things which are included at other poke places (like masago or krab salad) were an extra fee at this place. My two protein bowl with masago was almost $15, which is a bit high. My favorite poke places are still by USF, Tampa Campus, and in Seminole Heights, but I would probably come back if I were in the area.

It's hard to find a GOOD poke bowl. They are always spot on and customer service is fantastic! I would give ten stars if I could. The boba drinks are sweet and delicious as well! I have been able to get all of my friends and family hooked onto Poke Island. We're all recurring customers. The ambiance is similar to fast food so you're quick to get in line and quick to get out of it to enjoy your delicious bowl.

Why 4 stars? Because this is a solid option for poke in Pinellas Park. --- --- --- I learned about Poke Island from Yelp's Top 50 in Tampa Bay list that came out a few months ago. Anytime I see a business with a cumulative 5-star rating, I try to make it a high priority to visit. So when I was headed from St. Pete back to Tampa, I made a slide detour over to Pinellas Park. Poke Island is like most poke places and centers around the concept of building your own bowl - choosing a base, protein, veggies, toppings and sauce. I concocted a creation of all the random things I liked and figured I'd add a taro/coconut boba to the mix. The poke bowl was quite tasty. It was all quite compact in the bowl, which did make it a bit tough to fish around for various ingredients, but that was my only issue. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it! And the boba was also pretty great, I just wish the consistency was a tad thicker. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be a place I'd be visiting regularly, but since I'm about 20 miles away, I'll just have to cross my fingers that we get one of these concepts in Carrollwood one day.

The staff members are super nice and polite, and the inside of the restaurant is super clean. I love the portion size and everything is always delicious and fresh!

There are so many poke place pop up lately. This is second poke island I have seen. I like it particularly is their choices of the protein. They have something that other poke place do not offer. The protein has eel, Tempura shrimp, tomago, squid. These items is not normally serve. They have served a Yummy sauce which is spicy sesame is lovely. Mixed it with eel and poke sauce will make this perfect. I would said one part of yummy and poke sauce and two part of eel sauce is the way I like it. It you don't want it sweet, just use one part of eel sauce. I like the way they have the sauce on the rice first then pile all ingredients and sauce on the top. To make better, I would suggest sauce and ingredients mixed and put over rice. Then topping. This will increase the best taste. Price is good. But more protein did not mean you get more food. I would suggest that more protein with more food.

This place was SO GOOD. I've been driving past this nondescript sushi spot for years and I had the biggest craving for some Poke so I decided to randomly pop in. After having lived in Asia for half a decade and traveling up and down the West coast, I've become something of a Poke snob. I was pleasantly surprised! The tuna and salmon both tasted super fresh and the spicy tuna was just as well seasoned as you'd expect from a Poke spot in LA or SF. They also had tons of toppings and serving size was massive. I also ordered the crab wontons. They weren't anything special but if you have that very specific craving for crab wontons they get the job done. I will definitely be back for the next time my poke craving hits!

What does the avocado boba taste like? Is it sweet? Does it have the jelly or bursting boba in it? Thank you :)

I haven't had the avocado one but the boba they use is the typical brown sugar tapioca pearls! The bubble tea there is in more a of smoothie form.

Some sushi items still lean a little heavy on the rice, but you can easily balance that out by ordering sashimi instead. They have also expanded the menu quite a bit recently, which was a pleasant surprise. The standout addition for me is the sea scallop. It is seriously good and has become one of my favorite things to order here. I usually end up getting several portions of it. They also added amaebi sweet shrimp, though the pieces are a little on the smaller side. Other additions worth mentioning are the crab rangoon, which I definitely recommend, along with torched salmon and a coconut shrimp specialty roll. Overall, I am really enjoying the newer fish cuts and expanded add on selections. In my opinion, it is a tremendous upgrade from where they were before. Overall ambiance remains the same, but there's no need to change anything there as the food and service speaks for itself.

They offer a wide range of signature and classic rolls -- raw and cooked -- and other small appetizery dishes, like edamame, gyoza, shumai, tempura and fried rice. the desserts are worth saving room for! A few things I recommend: - raw rolls: perpetual love roll, paint Lady roll, mexican roll, new york roll A must try if you're in the mood for AYCE sushi -- definitely some of the best in Tampa Bay.

They were victim to a fire but are back full speed ahead with impeccable service, food, & drinks as ever. The staff is both friendly and genuinely wants you to have a good experience. They have mastered both the Thai and Japanese aspects of the menu (obviously in the name but a lot of places are strong in only certain categories). Everything we tried was insane. The Krab Rangoons really stood out to me as those are a dish everyone loves and wants to order at each place and they do theirs spring roll style so you get a bite of everything in every single bite - it's not all in the middle or barely filled. The Thai teas blew us away. We couldn't get enough. The rolls WOWWW was so hard to decide but our server, Kyle hooked it up with the recs. Same with the Thai side of the menu - the fried rice AND the pad kee mao were FIRE. I really wanted to try the curry but will definitely get next time as we could only order/eat so much! Can't wait to go back!!! What we ordered: - Krab rangoons (served in spring roll form - best form imo) - Garlic edamame - Basil fried rice w/ chicken - Pad kee mao w/ beef - TST roll - Angry bird roll - Volcano roll - Dragon roll - Salmon nigiri - Thai tea (og) - Thai green tea (matcha)

We ordered shrimp hibachi and a poke bowl and both were fresh and amazing. Obviousness made when we ordered them, so the wait on the hibachi was a few minutes, but worth it. They had a small condiment/salad bar area in the front of the store. The menu was lengthy. They had many different food items to offer from. I went with the Pho and my wife ordered the bun bo hue. My pho was very average. Just from the appearance it's seemed bland. You can only select two meat toppings on it so I went with the steak and the flank. The noodles were slightly undercooked as well. Broth was also pretty bland too and not a lot of plants in the it. They only had one bowl size you can choose from as well which seemed overpriced at about $14.95. My wife said her bun bo hue was good. I tried a little bit and the noodle was much softer than mine. Overall the food wasn't as impressive as some of the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I think they should add tendon, tripe, and meatball to their pho without the additional charge. Definitely needs more plants such as green onion, regular onion, cilantro in the pho. The broth would also benefit from some extra spices. Having two bowl sizes priced differently would be a huge plus as well.

Nickel City Sushi in Pinellas Park was honestly just meh. They cannot even get the rice right. It tasted like typical Vietnamese rice with little to no rice vinegar and it was dry. That alone sets the tone for the rest of the meal. My friends originally told me to check out the buy one get one roll deal during happy hour. I guess I waited too long because now it is simply two rolls for twelve dollars, which is only a small two dollar savings. The shrimp tempura roll was fried nicely and still crispy, so that was a plus. The salmon tuna roll was fine, nothing special. A little avocado or cucumber would go a long way in adding texture and flavor. I did like that the rolls came in eight pieces instead of the usual six. They sprinkle a tiny bit of masago and sesame seeds on the outside of the rolls. That should really only be mentioned on the menu for allergy reasons because the amount is so small. Yet they list it like it is some kind of bonus, which is a stretch. We also ordered the fried egg rolls, which came out piping hot, but they were small and skimpy at two for five dollars. The wrapper was too thick and the inside was too dry. I know several places that offer three large egg rolls for the same price. For an old school looking bar, they have a decent sized parking lot and ample amount of tv's if you want to see some sports. They have a few pool tables, variety of arcade and slots, along with a ton of dart boards (both traditional and electronic). Its a low key vibe of old locals for the most part. So far, I am not overly impressed with the food. I might consider coming back to try some of their other dishes like pho. Prices are not too bad, the service was quick and friendly, and the drinks were crazy cheap. If I do end up returning, it would probably be for the cheap beer more than anything else.
