Like any other users said, this is definitely a unique experience. Unfortunately, their food is what made me remove the two stars. The sushi rice is extremely sweet, making the rolls, cones and sushi not that great- the sweetness over powered all of the flavours and left a bad taste in my mouth. Came here for lunch on a Friday with a friend, and was told to take a seat and wait. No time frame given, just "take a seat please". We proceeded to wait 20 mins with no updates given. My friend approached the server to ask how long it would be and was cut off before he finished his sentence, with "almost, almost". So we proceeded to wait twenty more minutes with no one else approaching us. We finally flagged down the other server, and asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves. She said let me talk to the manager, and returned to tell us that the wifi was down so they couldn't seat anyone or serve any food. After FOURTY FIVE MIINUTES of waiting. If something is wrong, at least give the customer the option to make a decision on whether they'd like to wait around or not. Very unprofessional. read more

Sushi is delicious! Prices seem low but when you're self ordering and train is serving, it's a great saving for the quality of sushi!

I'd like to commend CHRISTINE for being nice and helpful . Came here after a 30minute walk. It was my first and for sure not the last. She showed me how the menu works though I've done my first order already. I appreciate her willingness to show how the menu works and everything around the table, so in my next round order it didn't take me that much to figure out. She noticed I was eager to take a video of the mini bullet train so she offered to pull the train back from the start point so I can take a great clips. I loved the novelty of the monorail delivery service but the big win is the quality of the food - no gimmicks, just delicious.

Want the chance for a train to deliver you your food? Come to Point sushi! They have a nice iPad style system for you to order and then the food is delivered right to you, no interaction needed! And I will say the food is quite good as well! I wouldn't say it's the best sushi I have ever had but they have tons of good options as well as good hot food and dessert options. I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you like sushi, it's a cool experience! read more

A new Japanese restaurant opened in Calgary 'Point Sushi' bringing the idea of bullit train sushi to Calgary. This idea has been seen in a few cities already but is the first in Calgary. The atmosphere is spacious and are booth style tables, each side has a flat traveling panel (magnetic) where the train travels on to bring food to your table. You order your food through a tablet and the kitchen lays the beverage and foods on the train and the train travels and stops right in front of your table. The gimmick is fun and entertaining. The food.....The food was really good. We ordered a few items all served Tapas style. I found the food all had a sweetness to it. Perfect balance of savoury and sweet. We ordered the Gomae, wings, pumpkin croquette, squid legs, baked oysters, fresh scallops, tuna carpaccio, beef tataki and a few other tapas and sushi dishes. The interesting thing about this place is that all dishes has a slight sweetness to it, which complimented the dishes. I hope this place keeps their food standard to par, as per usual a lot of places tends to loose food quality as time pass. I am looking forward to eating here again. read more

Ordered a salmon roll and a yam roll which were both good and cheap. I'm giving 3 stars because we placed a delivery order and was notified 30 min after placing the order that no one was available to deliver the order and that we had to pick it up. We walked outside in the cold and they did not provide chopsticks, soy sauce or napkins which was disappointing. read more

I went there today. And I have to say the food is overall good, and having the addition of the train is also a plus that makes it stand out from the rest. But I do have a few critiques on the place. First of all there isn't a lot of selection for food sushi wise. I would have liked it better if there was more selections of food. Such as a simple salmon hand cone. Secondly I personally think that the portion sizes are a bit too small for some of the orders. So it wasn't all that filling. And Lastly the price is much too expensive for all that we got as a family of four. If they can fix these problems the family might consider coming back. read more

The experience at Point was good from a novelty perspective and in terms of the food. The price for the portions was a reasonable but the service was the sticking point for our party. We were very impressed with the quality, taste, and portions of the sushi. Compared to several other sushi restaurants, our party agreed the food was among the top in regards to quality for the money. Our party averaged about $30/person. The bullet train food/drink delivery was fantastic, very cool to see and experience in person while offering a unique flair not found in other sushi restaurants. The service for us was where the experience fell short: clogged bathroom toilets, reoccurring wi-fi issues preventing ordering, and a sarcastic comment from the guy checking us in for a reservation. One of our party members needed to use the handicap/accessible stall in the women's washroom which was clogged. Additionally, the other 2 stalls were also clogged and our party member had to use the mens washroom. The buildings elevator did not work which also proved challenging to get in and out of the restaurant. The wi-fi issues prevented ordering for the first 15 minutes after being seated, followed by 15 more minutes later into the meal. Upon checking in early, the employee made a snarky comment about how busy they were and how thankful we should be to have gotten a reservation.. despite the restaurant being not more than half full during our entire 2 hour meal. I may return based on how good the food was and the unique experience of this restaurant, but if you value service and handicap accessibility they wouldn't be my first choice. read more

This place is fantastic! The experience starts with entering this completely renovated space. It used to be Sakana Grill and the owners completely renovated it to bring the first bullet train sushi in North America. There is very little other than the underground parking to recognize it as Sakana. It's bright and new and clean inside. There are five rows of large booths with a dividing partial wall between them that has two levels of tracks. Above the tracks are all the items you'll need - plates, napkins, soy sauce dishes, cutlery, etc. The table has a hot water spout to refill your tea cup that comes with a large tea bag - enough to last well past the meal. There's also a lidded box with chopsticks and two options for soy sauce (the menu also has a third option for gluten free soy sauce). The service is friendly and when being seated they ask if you've been before - we had not, so they explained how everything works. You place your order on an iPad and then a train brings the food or drink out. Once you remove the dish, the train returns to the kitchen. It's quiet and fast, stopping smoothly at your booth, and the iPad displays what has been delivered. The food was delicious! The salmon sashimi comes in very good sized pieces. I have a new favourite: Spicy Royal Roll! The spider roll was also one of the best I've had, with no imitation crab to fill it. The novelty of the bullet train definitely didn't take away from the quality of the food or service. Plates were cleared promptly throughout the meal, service continued to be friendly, and there wasn't one dish that was less than delicious. The washrooms were clean and as a bonus novelty, the toilets are equipped with heated toilet /bidet seats with remote controls available. This is an incredibly well executed launch of a new concept, with delicious food and reasonable prices for great sushi. We'll definitely be back! read more

This place is a rip off. It is a "Japanese" restaurant but it's obviously that the chef is NOT Japanese. The quality of the food is poor, the roll sushi are uneven, its ice-cream is expensive but its cheap buffet quality ice-cream. It's dessert is very poor quality and you can get a nicer cheesecake from safeway or any department store. The portion is so tiny that it's a joke. Ive spent over $100 dollar with a couple of my girl-friends there and I could go home eat a whole burger after a meal at point sushi. If you only want to see the train moving and don't expect eating nice authentic Japanese food, you could go pay for their renovation (not the food). I ate at this type of restaurant at Tokyo in 10 times cheaper rate for much better quality food. If you haven't try this restaurant, don't even attempt to try, it's not worth it at all!! read more
