Note that 3 Stars is the maximum vote I can give to a "non-bakery". Like several of the "bread places" along cours Charlemagne, Point Chaud uses frozen dough to make their bread and pastries. By French law they cannot call themselves a Bakery. You'll notice many creative alternative terms on the signs of these non-bakeries: Fournil, Pains, Fourneau...
That said, the staff at Point Chaud is very friendly and patient. They were extremely patient with my non-French speaking mom who became a regular during her stay. And I find myself a regular customer of theirs despite my philosophical chagrin. In fact, I get the impression their bread is better than the real bakery across the street. read more
