Let me just start with saying the vet techs and some of the receptionists are very kind and compassionate toward us and our dog. However, we will never be returning to this vet. My dog had a growth that looked like a hemorrhoid. I explained this to the vet techs when he got his anal glands done and they checked and said they could not see it which is weird because it was big enough where I personally could see it. I saw it again at home and took him back. They looked at him and said they didn't see it, without examining with their fingers or anything. One month later I'm at a new vet who told me he has a tumor there that needs to be biopsied. When we spoke with the hospital manager Frank Fiachinno, on the phone, he did not take accountability and was not nearly as kind on the phone as he is acted in response to my review. He never said sorry to me. He put on a front, acted totally indifferent and was the most condescending person I had ever spoken to. He even laughed at me on the phone saying "he didn't respond to threats or bad reviews" as my husband told him that we would be leaving bad reviews about this experience after he had treated us poorly and refused to apologize or refund us and gaslit us the entire time, telling us that we were to not believe our own eyes. Just so frank knows, my plan was always to leave bad reviews and involve legal action for our dog's pain and suffering. The first time we brought our dog into the office over a month and a half ago the growth was popping out of his anal cavity when he would go to the bathroom. It was clearly visible and painful for him. He attempted to nip at one of the vet techs for the first time ever as he has been going for a routine examination like this for his anal glands for 7 years. As I stated above, the second visit with a vet, she looked at his rear end and said it looked fine and did not even attempt to check with her fingers even after we told her the growth was inside. Her name is Denise Belue. Two visits in a month to address this issue. They did not examine him appropriately. Luckily we have found out that the problem with our dog did not develop progressively as Frank tried to suggest, it's been a chronic condition that the vet and vet techs should have noticed. Our problem is not with the 70 bucks they owe us for not doing anything in the exam, but for ignoring us when we knew something was wrong and then refusing to take any accountability. It's the principle of the matter. Frank, I hope you resign from your job because if it's not clear to you already, it's not a good fit for you to be dealing with customer service. Thank you for showing me the true, snarky, uncaring, and irresponsible character of Point Area Vet. I wouldn't recommend taking your animals here if you want people who actually care about your pet and want them to live. read more

I have a 13 yr old Jack Russell. over the past year we have seen a decline in his health. He has been drinking and urinating more than usual, muscle mass has decline and he is losing hair. Had him tested for diabetes which came back negative. Vet said it is just his age. I also brought up his eye which has clouded over. Again just his age. They did do labs which came back very good. A few weeks ago, he had a very hard time opening up his right eye. Of course I could not get him into Point area Vet, so I called a different vet which got him in a few hours later. This vet took the time with my dog, did a pressure test on my dog's eye and determined he has glaucoma. He was put on 3 different eye drops and had the pressure tested again on his eye roughly every 10 days. He does not have any sight in that eye, it is bulging, and the pressure in the eye is not coming down. Our new vet is recommending that we have his eye removed. I also discussed with our new vet his drinking, urinating, loss of muscle mass and hair. He has all the symptoms of Cushings Disease. we will find out the results early in the week. Point area vet failed to recognize the signs. We could have been treating our dog for this for approximately a year if only Point area would have taken the time with our dog instead of "get him in, get him out attitude." The same with his eye. He may not be losing it if Point Area would have recognized the signs of glaucoma. Very disappointing. read more

She was professional, intelligent and absolutely the most easy to talk to, sweet veterinarian I've ever taken my animal to. I had been taking pets to the Community Animal Hospital for close to 20 years. Thrilled when Dr Tom took it over. Since Dr Tom sold and the clinic became Stevens Point Area Veterinary Clinic- things have gone downhill. Price increases, charges for purchasing through Chewy or other sites than theirs, poor communication between front desk and veterinarians, difficult to get a timely appointment. The list goes on. One of my neighbors had a cat die in their car while taking it to Mosinee because the Stevens Point Veterinary Clinic would not fit them in and sent them elsewhere. It seems to be all about the money now with very little concern for the pets and their owners. I have since found a different veterinary clinic in the area. read more

I want to start with I have seen Dr Tom many times and he did great. I brought my 6 month old pug in to see Dr Brown and it was horrible! He was demeaning, made me feel like I was a neglative almost abusive pug parent, this was the 3rd time we brought her in, which he checked like he didn't believe us. He did blood work and tells us that it tells him nothing. With NO SYMPATHY he told us with 99.9 certainty she has PDE and will die within a month, even was joking at one point. Said we can spend $600 at Appleton to just prove he is correct. We took her in for a second opinion and WITH THE BLOOD WORK HE DID they diagnosed her with a liver shunt and I am thrilled to say with surgery she is doing great! It terrifies me to think if we would've listened to Dr Brown we would have let our treatable 6 month old puppy die. read more

This place was recommended by coworkers. I took my dog here to get her rabies shot. We didn't get to wait very long before she got seen. The vet was fantastic. She calmed down the dog, gave her the shot, cleaned out her ears, and gave me some free trial items. She didn't try to sell me anything other than just recommending some products and told me where I could get it. She was genuine and sincere. When a stray dog came into our lives a few months ago, my husband and I picked Community Animal Hospital to be our vet, and both trips there so far have been great. Their prices are reasonable and we haven't been sold on unnecessary items. Our dog can be very excited around other dogs, and the staff have been really nice in not being frustrated when it takes her a bit to calm down. They aren't open super late, but we've been able to get appointments late enough in the day to not have to take time off of work, which is great! They also have a pretty nice online portal to keep track of everything. read more

If you bring your best friend here be sure to make an appointment with Dr. Tom, he is by far the best vet I have ever had. The other doctors here seem capable too. But Dr. Tom is great. He will tell you like it is and won't try to up sell every procedure under the sun for a simple UTI or whatever is causing your furry friend discomfort. The problem I have with most vets trying to run every test imaginable on my pets is that one, it's EXPENSIVE and two, it's CRUEL to put a pet through unnecessary testing. The prices for everything from shots to medicines here are very competitive. I've had pets my whole life and have dealt with 5 other vets before I found this one at Community Animal Hospital. If we were to move to a neighboring town I would drive my pets up to 30 miles to see Dr. Tom. Also the staff is very friendly and down to earth. It just feels like they care more about the animals than the money here. read more

Terrible. Took our dog there last year and the computer system was down so they couldn't run our credit card. We never received a bill from them in the mail and they sent it to collections. We called and told them we wanted to make sure that no payment had been applied (since we gave them our credit card info!) and once we had that info we would pay them or send proof of payment. A couple days later we had to take our dog in for a tooth problem. I was then told in a very unprofessional and insensitive way, after the new services, that we had to pay the outstanding balance as well as the new charge then and there or THE AUTHORITIES WOULD BE CALLED!... they weren't going to wait for us to check with the bank that payment was applied. Add to the fact they wanted stick us with over $100 in unnecessary services had we had the surgery done with them. (Which I only found out after I called a different vet). won't ever use them again. Stay away unless you want to be stuck with a huge bill and being threatened. read more

I called Community Animal Hospital requesting an appointment to bring in my pet who had a breathing issue the previous evening. I was told to bring her in immediately and leave her. This was in the morning. I expected a call later in the afternoon but to my surprise an hour and a half later Dr. Tom was calling me with his results of testing my pet. I had approved all testing. Dr. Tom was so understanding of my concern and I felt he treated my pet as though it was one of his own. I was not treated as just another client but as a person who truly cares about animals. New to this area I can only say TX has Hometown Animal Hospital, CO has Dr. Jeff Rocky Mountain Vet and WI has Community Animal Hospital and Dr. Tom. Dr. Tom ranks right up there with the best in the country. His passion for the well being of animals is obvious. The staff is excellent. When dealing with a pet owner they make one feel as though one is the most important person at that moment. read more

I brought my 3 year old chihuahua here and saw dr. Tom. She died after two days in his care. My dog had no bowel movement in 3 days they checked her internals and everything looked fine except a mild inflammation of the pancreas. So instead of making sure she had a bowel movement they decided to treat the pancreas. Treat the symptom and not the cause. I brought my dog in on a Thursday and dr Tom was a no show even when I put her to sleep on Friday. Probably did not want to hurt his golf game. My pets have always received good care here and I like the vets for the most part. The new vet, Dr. Megan, and Dr. Dawn are very caring and do a nice job. However, almost every time I go there, while I am waiting for a vet in the exam room, I can hear Dr. Tom bickering with the staff in the back room, or complaining loudly about clients. It is very unprofessional and makes me feel uncomfortable. read more

I am very upset with my experience at the Community Animal Hospital; specifically with one particular doctor. I do want to take the time to say the lady at the front desk and the technician who helped with my dog were very nice and welcoming, however, Dr. Tom was the complete opposite. My family had two dogs, and unfortunately, we had to put one of them down the night before visiting with our second dog. We noticed our second dog had leg issues, and we were told to visit this particular hospital, as it was new to us. While visiting, Dr. Tom was very blunt and rude. We found out our dog has bone cancer and he had no sympathy. He mentioned he had heard our other dog "just died" and asked how with no concern whatsoever. He then continued the visit with saying "jeez, the first time meeting you and i have to tell you your dog is dying". Of course, my mother, sister, and I begin to cry and he just continued being loud and blunt about the entire situation. I cannot believe how disrespectful and inconsiderate he was. I recommend going somewhere else or finding a different doctor. read more
