even one star might be a stretch for PUC's Stroudsburg location. How great I thought it was that my medical insurer's website (United Healthcare) provided me with PUC for vaccines. As a result, an appointment with their Stroudsburg location for 11 Jan to get two vaccines. Upon arrival, the experience went downhill quickly in a very surprising and negative way. There were two employees at check-in. One was helping the only other adult so I informed the other employee I was here for my on-line appointment for two vaccines. Her response? We don't provide these (paraphrase, but it was a short quick answer). Really? so my next question asked if these vaccines were not in stock. Her response was we don't give nor ever had given these vaccines at this location. Hmmm I was thinking, so then asked her why one is able to make a vaccine appointment on your web-site. The look she gave me reminded me of a deer caught in headlights. Then I asked about availability of these vaccines at another Pocono Urgent Care location. Her response, and I quote, "I don't know". And not even an offer to find out availability at other locations. Wow, what a great example of a helpful employee. The other PUC employee never uttered a peep. Last I suggested she contact PUC's IT team to have the website corrected. Her response was a kick in the ass, and I quote, "I only work here". No kidding young lady, that's why I'm suggesting this to you. Guess the word & meaning of initiative and taking responsibility were not in her work ethic. So it's ok in her mind that P.U.C.'s website is incorrect and she doesn't much care if the same thing happens to another P.U.C. customer. The other front desk employee still didn't utter a peep nor show any initiative or willingness to assist. Maybe I'm the first person to make an online appointment for pneumonia & shingles vaccines. Damn good to know PUC's employees did not added any value to my visit nor give an evidence that they gave a shit. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't get a shot, who knows if they would have given me the correct vaccine with a clean unused needed. Stay far away! We had issues right at the front desk, which should have been the first sign. The doctor was no better. Misdiagnosed my daughter because they ran no tests even after I asked them to. I've been tested multiple times for COVID at many different places and this by far is the WORST place. Made an appointment and was still sitting in the waiting room for an hour and then finally when I get my named called I'm waiting almost another hour just to get my swab test. I can't believe I had to wait so long just for a test that should take 5 minutes. And when I asked someone how much longer it would be, I get a rude and unsympathetic response that "we're busy and someone will be with you shortly." Shortly to me means a couple minutes, not almost two hours for an entire appointment. This is my first time here, and will 100% be my last. Today I brought my 2 year old daughter in to be seen. She had a deep cut on her toe and we were unable to stop the bleeding. The ladies - from the receptionist, to the nurse, to the student to the PA were all very kind and accommodating to us. She needed stitches and everyone was beyond patient with my hysterical child (who could blame her!). They gave her stickers, made globe balloons, even offered to lend their phones to give her something to watch. A sincere thank you from this parent. No one wants to see their baby hurt and everyone was so kind and empathetic. read more

Stay away if you need real help. The LVHN Pocono ExpressCare at 200E Brown St., East Stroudsburg, PA is one of the worst experiences with a healthcare facility I've ever had. I went there on a Sunday evening with a wrist injury with my son. Before I decided to use this facility I asked if they were able to assist with fractures. I meant something more than just putting a temporary splint. The receptionist at the front desk ensured me that they were able to help with fractures. Turned out they did not have ANY doctor working that evening. My son was being seen by an incompetent nurse practitioner, she called in a technician to take two x-ray images of the wrist, she misdiagnosed the injury, put a temporary splint and advised me to see a real doctor the next day. A few days later I got a bill for $1,400 for this. I was shocked, the x-ray charge was $1,200. LVHN charged me as part of the next-door hospital rates! An x-ray taken at an orthopedic office is no more than $100 then why was I being charged ten times more: $1200!? My insurance didn't pay a dime but accepted it as a legally valid charge (some walk-in clinics are affiliated with a hospital and can charge hospital rates but they hide this information from the patient). I have to pay the entire bill. I wasn't told up front that I would be charged hospital rates for this simple x-ray; moreover the x-ray images were so unclear and the nurse practitioner was so incompetent that she put a wrong diagnosis (she didn't notice that there was a full fracture). I called the LVHN Pocono ExpressCare office to get an x-ray report the next day so that I can take it to a real doctor but they couldn't find it and kept hanging up on me. I also called the LVHN billing office multiple times after getting the bill to dispute it but they insisted that they could charge ten times more than an orthopedist, they were always very rude, they always hung up on me without providing any help. I find their staff to be very incompetent and simply rude to its customers/patients. I asked to be put on a payment plan; I was paying small amounts (I don't think that I should be paying more than $100) but after paying off 70% of this exaggerated bill and continuing my payments they sent me to collections. This is one of the most unprofessional and incompetent places I have been to. read more

Got in at 11:20AM, wasn't admitted until 1:30PM, only six people in front of me. Came in for a sore throat. I feel like the doctor was just pretending to know what to look for, he didn't even look at my throat! They swabbed me for strep, which they only thought to do because I said I had it earlier this year. They did not test me for covid. Then the "doc"tried to prescribe me a cough syrup. I told him I did not have a cough, I never mentioned I did, and what would this do for me that I couldn't get over the counter? He told me he didn't want me calling tomorrow complaining with a cough. I did not take his prescription. Only thing I got out of my 3 hour visit was a strep test. Unfortunately, there are no CVS minute clinics in the area, which are much better and reliable. Can get a strep & covid test within 20 minutes, no waiting. read more

Very slow!!!!!!! I made an online check in for 1:15. I was finally called in about 1:45pm. The person took my vitals and set I would be seen soon. Soon? After sitting in the exam room for an hour, I finally went out and asked how much longer. Someone said the DR is with someone now. A few minutes later that person came in and asked me my name. (How could they not know who they have in an inner exam room???) A few minutes later the DR came in. I finally got out of there at 3:10. It wasn't even crowded. I saw many workers doing alot of off business chatting and drinking the Dunkin. I think they need to better organize and be much more efficient and remember who they put in the exam room I am giving it 2 stars instead of one because in fairness to the staff they were pleasant when you finally got to talk to them. I am glad I have a family DR and don't have to do this too often. read more

We took our three kids here in a Sunday. One was diagnosed with strep and pink eye. The other two were not. We were told it's highly contagious and to call back if the issues develop in the other two and they'd call in a script, given the diagnosis of the youngest. In the matter of 24 hours, I now have a crying mess of a daughter who can't swallow. When my husband called them today, they told us we could bring her on for a visit for another $40 copay but they will not call in a script without seeing her. Both my husband and I were in the exam room when we were told they would. And one would think within a 24 hour time frame, it's ridiculous to think we'd have to bring them back in. I can assure you there are other (better!) urgent cares to visit in the area that don't have shady he said/ she said practices. read more

If doctors tend to be arrogant, the one I saw here takes the cake! It started off well with the very friendly, welcoming and polite receptionist. Nurse who took my info and vitals was ok, too, although she seemed to struggle with the software she was using. Then the doctor came in. Was there because as a chronic bronchitis sufferer I know my symptoms and my body well. Didn't seem to matter to this doctor who felt the need to admonish me for what I know about my self. I drove 45 minutes , waited in line and was told that the owner called and canceled all Covid tests. I was told that it shouldn't have been online. I went for my COVID test in November. It took over two weeks to get back my results then they screwed up the billing code TWICE resulting in a bill of $138. Luckily the insurance company was able to recode it manually. It is worth noting that they charged the insurance company almost three times as much as my partner was charged who paid out of pocket. Contacting them was also a nightmare. The billing department just had a message saying they'd be out on 5/13-5/14 and they would return the calls on 5/17. It was 5/18 when I called. read more

Making an appointment through their website is a complete waste of time since they don't honor appointments. Everything, even a rapid COVID test, is first-come, first-serve. I waited nearly 2.5 hours despite only having five patients ahead of me. The receptionist was apologetic but otherwise unable to do anything. After just getting back from w trip to Chicago, I had multiple COVID symptoms. I went here after calling and said they has rapid tests but a limited amount and it was up to the doctor whether or not I would get one. Granted I've been traveling and have all the right symptoms so I had no worries that he wouldn't give me a rapid test. Well the joke was on me. Upon arriving I waited about 15 minutes to be sitting in a room for probably a 45 mins to see the doctor. Prior to that the check in nurse was very nice. When the doctor came in he asked me my symptoms he was very robotic and extremely rude. He then proceeded to tell me that I didn't need a rapid Covid test due to my symptoms. WHAT? recently being on an airplane and traveling in Chicago where I met with multiple dozens of people for work. I got frustrated and started crying as soon as he left the room. They left me sitting in this room for another over a half an hour until I opened up the door and rudely asked can I leave. It's like they forgot about me. He gave me a prescription for Motrin and I explain to the nurse on my way out how does this man have a job. He was so rude didn't listen to me and hey I'll listen I'm not a doctor but I'm more of a doctor than he was because I knew he was wrong. She pleaded with me how sorry she was and that I wasn't the first person to complain about the doctor. She said to get a second opinion elsewhere.. The doctor is the owner of Pocono Urgent Care so if you see a black Maserati in the parking lot don't go there. Fast forward two days I've paid $125 for a rapid test at another facility and got the PCR test at Rite Aid guess what - POSTIVE!!!!! Misdiagnosed me -wouldn't test me- then tested positive for Covid elsewhere!! horrible horrible doctor I don't remember his name but he's the owner. This is the worst urgent care I've ever visited. The receptionist was amazing and so sweet. We were registered and taken back to a room very quickly but the care my daughter and I received after we got into an exam room was the worst I have ever experienced. It started when the nurse weighed my 5 year old daughter and made a comment "wow you must have had a lot of cookies". I'm sure she was trying to be funny and relax my daughter who was nervous about the visit which I totally understand and appreciate but as soon as she left my daughter asked me if she was fat. She is extremely thin. The nurse did a strep test on both of us and then we basically sat in the room for about 30-40 minutes before Dr. Romes came in. There was only one other Patient there when we were coming in and he was leaving so really we were the only one there. Dr. Romes seemed to be sitting at a desk on a computer. I'm assuming they were waiting for the results of the strep test but there is no reason we couldn't have been checked over while the results came in to save time. When Dr. Romes finally entered the room, he did not introduce himself or make eye contact with me the entire visit till he was leaving the room. He came in looking down at the floor and asked what brought us in. I explained that my daughter was sent home from school and the school nurse suspected strep bc she had a fever of 102.4 and I also had the same thing so wanted to be make sure we were treated before it got worst. He started rambling down a list of symptoms as if he was on a tv commercial and I stopped him and said "are you saying she has strep?" He snapped at me and said none of these symptoms are strep symptoms. Then continued on with his terrible attitude and rant which I could barely keep up with bc of how fast and ridiculous he sounded. Nothing he said made sense and I've never been told half of what he was talking about from my actual doctor. Eventually he said she didn't have strep and that she had a cold. I said "a cold with 102.4 fever?" He replied by saying "why do you sound surprised?". I said because I am surprised and he told me I shouldn't be. Who talks to a patient like that? This kind of behavior went on and on for about another 15 minutes of him making weird comments about how most people wait till they have more symptoms, we are no different than any other patient he saw today and that over the next couple weeks I could expect us to have red crusty eyes, stomach pain, diarrhea, runny nose, headache and a million other things he ranted off. He kept saying things about a stuffy nose. We don't have any cold like symptoms just a sore throat. I am very familiar what a cold is and the symptoms and I am not an idiot. And now my daughter thinks she is going to get red crusty eyes. So that's great to have to explain to a 5 year old that no she's not fat and no she isn't getting red crusty eyes and to ignore the doctor comments. He also made sure to tell me he had the same thing and he's on day 5. Really, I don't care! I normally would go to my regular family doctor/pediatrician but I thought I would get ahead of it and get checked so I didn't have to take off work, my daughter could get back to school quickly and I didn't have to lug my 7 month old baby and sick daughter around town for doctor checks. I guess I should have just waited and now I know for next time. Save yourself the trouble if you're reading this, and go somewhere else. read more

Worst urgent care experience! I waited 40 minutes before being seen by the nurse, and even once I was in the process of being seen, the staff seemed like they were in no rush to help me. Also, every employee I encountered there (2 receptionists, 2 nurses, and 1 doctor) were all very rude/short with me. I spent a total of 2 hours there. Once I was finally seen by the doctor he did not comprehensively look at all my symptoms and in fact ignored what I was trying to tell him. He gave me a 'scare tactic' lecture for about 10 minutes and what other medical conditions the one symptom he chose to focus on could manifest as. He told me to set up an appointment with a specialized practice and did no exam or culturing. He wasn't of any help to me at all. Everyone there made it clear to me that my visit was a waste of time for them. I will never go back to this facility or recommend it to others in the future. read more

They aren't a particularly friendly bunch. I wanted a simple bus driver's physical. There were very few people ahead of me. Last year the physical was $80...this year: $100! Come on. a 25% increase in one year! All they do is check vision in front ob basic eye chart; do BP and O2 using finger probe. Basic hearing test, listen to lungs. All this took about 10 minutes, not counting the extra time I spent waiting for someone to come back and check hearing test results. They seemed to have forgotten about me. No Doc involved. I came here because they were more reasonable, this will be my last visit. read more
