My wife and I have outstanding credit and plenty of equity in our home. We refinanced this summer and paid off our PNC home equity loan once again. I have now been trying for three months to obtain a new home equity loan with absolutely no movement. I've been told for three months that it is in underwriting. I've never had this issue in the past where I was able to get a home equity loan approved within two weeks by PNC Bank. I wish they would just tell me they have no interest in making a loan. I need to move on as we have home improvements we would like to make.

I'm always greeted when I walk in, and the gentleman at the "welcome" table asks me what I'm there for - if it's something he can handle then that leaves the tellers free for other customers (i.e. ordering checks). After graduating & moving, I felt like there was SO MUCH maintenance and updating to do in my personal financial/documents life. Big props to the employee here who verified my address... I had completely forgotten that was something I needed to do and felt extra productive after stopping in and inadvertently taking care of it. There's an ATM right outside. Since it's a high traffic area at a busy intersection, I feel safe using it during business hours. Boo to PNC for charging a fee for a cashier's checks... even to account holders. But that's not this branch's fault.

Update on the March 6th posting: After receiving the incorrect 1099 from PNC (they had included…read morethe original check amount that was voided when they issued it incorrectly as well as the corrected amount - basically resulting in a doubling of the amount on the 1099-R) we went to the local PNC branch and showed them the error. After waiting 2 hours in the lobby, and another 1 hour on the phone with the IRA "specialist" they finally admitted a mistake had been made by them. They said that the corrected 1099-R was input that day and that we would receive a copy of the corrected 1099-R within 8 business days via mail and that the 1096 form that is sent to the IRS to update the IRS records would be electronically sent that day. After waiting 15 days to receive the corrected 1099-R (and having the Federal and State tax filing rejected because it did not match IRS records), we again went back to the bank and spent another hour and a half waiting for an answer. We were then advised that " the 1099-R was mailed today" and that the 1096 form would be sent to the IRS "shortly". In other words, they misrepresented what they promised to do weeks earlier and failed to act on what was promised. So until PNC corrects their slew of errors and broken promises that was of their own creation, the required IRS filing can't be done. A complaint has been filed with the Indiana entity that oversees banks in the state as this is negligent, HIGHLY unprofessional and completely unacceptable. DO NOT USE THIS BANK FOR ANY PURPOSE. YOU WILL SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS INEPT ORGANIZATION!
