Situated on a junction of the busy Plumstead Road, this library is easy to find but does not have much parking to offer. However, I can usually find somewhere down Hilary Avenue, a road just off this.
It is a branch of the Norfolk Library and stocks a decent selection of adult and children's books. The children's area is particularly lovely and appealing to young children especially. Some of the books are set out in a row of colourful wooden boxes to look like a train. There are also soft round cushions and some shaped like chickens etc where the children can sit to look at the books. (Although my children like to try and make a tower with them!). There is also a sofa area where you can sit and enjoy flicking through books with them or read a magazine while they are busy choosing.
Most libraries these days stock a selection of CDs, DVDs and computer games as well and Plumstead Road is no exception, all very reasonably priced and up to date.
Computers for internet access are also available, free of charge.
I am looking forward to visiting the outside area of this library on my next visit as earlier this month they opened their new Butterfly Garden. Apparently, there are benches to sit on and relax in landscaped gardens. By spring, the buddleias etc they have planted should be attracting many butterflies and I imagine this will be a lovely place to escape to for a quiet read! read more
