I went to her office thinking I had all the necessary papers, and then discovered I was missing the title. While I searched for it in the glove box (spoiler: it wasn't in there), she went to my former state's DMV site and started filling out the request for a duplicate title "just in case." She printed it out for me and gave me excellent advice on what to do while I was waiting to get the duplicate titled mailed to me. Her excellent service continued when I was finally able to return with all the needed documents in hand, plus the cash payment. For all PennDOT transactions, it's cash only. She even lent me a screwdriver to put my PA plate on the car immediately. As Notary Now Plus is a one-person operation, you may need to wait. There is a small waiting area, with no TV or Muzak blaring. Soft drinks are available at a reasonable price; she also stocks envelopes of various sizes, which is a thoughtful touch and again, very reasonably priced. Barbara's very professional and also empathetic. I was actually looking forward to my second trip, to complete the transaction. Compared to other estimates I received for the service, her fee is very reasonable, and her exceptional customer service adds even more value. A neighbor told me to go to a "tag and transfer" place, so I called one near my home. The woman was rude and I felt as though I was bothering her. So I searched online and found Keystone, which was about twice as far away but I called anyway. Jason answered all of my questions thoroughly, I went in later that day and transferred both of my cars to PA within 15 minutes. He knew exactly what he was doing, and did so efficiently and quickly. We had a situation where I had a "vanity" plate that I was no longer needing, and someone from the area (Latrobe) wanted this same tag for his car. I consulted with the State (PennDOT) on how to ensure he could inherit my plate, and they gave me step-by-step procedures. However, he could not travel to Harrisburg to do this. We decided to do this at Latrobe at "The Auto Tag Store" (the place recommended by PennDOT, themselves). I drove to Latrobe and had the other person meet me at The Auto Tag Store, and we had all the required documents (i.e. my letter RELINQUISHING rights to the tag, his application for REQUESTING the tag, et cetera). Well, the lady (owner) at The Auto Tag Store was adamant that it could NOT be done, and that she has been "working here for [30+] years!!!" I think she said "37", but unsure if memory is accurate on that number. But, even though she was very adamant that it could not be done, I insisted that she process the application.....AND.....include my tag and letter as PART of that package. My point is that the lady at The Auto tag Store, in all her resistance to do what steps were directed by PennDOT, itself, needed to be held accountable and serve the customer. Do NOT allow her temperament to dissuade you from requesting services that are an actual PROCESS per PennDOT. Stand your ground...or at least get any resistance/denial in writing.
